Formation of witness testimonies collected at CVH Malach

Ve své práci ukazuji na svědeckých záznamech přístupných v Malach jakými způsoby je utvářeno svědectví. To ve své práci vnímám jako specifický žánr, který je ovlivňován zároveň diskursem a pravidly vyprávění. Ve své práci se pokouším ukázat způsoby, tomu dochází, a tím přispět k lepšímu pochopení svědectví jako takového. Důvodem této snahy je pak mimo jiné i vzrůstající míra využívání svědectví k vzdělávacím účelům, ve kterých se původně doplňkové funkce ve vzta historiografii dostává svědectví stále více prostoru i jako vlastnímu zdroji informací. Skrze výpovědi pamětníků je svědectví schopné přenášet nejen prosté informace, ale díky své autenticitě také emoce a morální apel. Ve své práci na materiálech USC Shoah Foundation Institute ukazuji způsoby, kterými dochází jak k omezování vyprávění diskursem, tak příklady, ve kterých nachází vyprávění v diskursu oporu, či taková, ve kterých se projevuje moc vyprávění nad diskursem. K tomuto závěru docházím na základě analyzování oficiálních dokumentů nadace USC Shoah Foundation Institute. Mezi ně patří podklady pro tazatele a pamětníky, které mají zmiňovaní k dispozici dříve, než je videozáznam pořizován. The Discourse of Visuality of Grammar School Pupil

The dissertation deals with visuality, its perception by pupils of the secondary school. The theoretical part of the work defines the concept of image, visuality, their contextual frameworks. It takes into account the discursivity of these concepts. The aim of the research is to determine students' preferences in the concept of visuality. It seeks theoretical foundation in the areas of: visual sphere - artistic production, new media; art history; spheres of humanities - philosophy, pedagogy, psychology. It also deals with communication and linguistics. It applies knowledge of a semiotic nature. Research design is applied action research of a qualitative nature. It uses the methodology of Grounded Theory and triangulation. The research part of the thesis contains evaluated questionnaire surveys, reflecting selected artifacts. Interpreted student outcomes. These are evaluated using the obtained data to answer research questions. The thesis brings a new perspective on visual information, from the perspective of the pupil. Nowadays, we as educators, are searching for the most appropriate way to offer children and adolescents the necessary competences for to be adapt in the contemporary visual society. China in the Czech Press: Comparing Representations of Authoritarian Political System in Democratic Media System

Diploma thesis "China in the Czech Press: Comparing Representations of Authoritarian Political System in Democratic Media System" uses qualitative content analysis to examine attributes ascribed to China by selected Czech mainstream newspapers in selected periods, systematizing and categorizing the findings into instituted categories. The analysis serves as a basis for answering the key question: How media representations of political and social system - which is unacceptable in the system where the media work - can be ideologically adapted? Brief insight into history and contemporary problems of China and interpretation of the term "ideology" based on description of the development of this term firstly in its negative definition of Marxist line stay before presentation of results of the qualitative research. The thesis includes also extensive part full of graphical supplements which denote image of China in discourse of dailies Lidové noviny and Právo in five selected periods. It allows easy comparison of separate partial discourses, so distinctions among the partial images of China are well discoverable.

"Most people don't mind global warming": Climate change denial in Czech politics between the years 2018 - 2021 This thesis deals with the topic of climate change denial in contemporary Czech politics. It aims to describe how the narrative of climate change denial is formed and reproduced. The first part captures the origins and the background of climate change scepticism in both Czech and international context with the special stress laid upon ideology. Based on the critical discourse analysis of the rhetorics of Alexandr Vondra, Jan Zahradník, Václav Klaus Jr., and Tomio Okamura, the second part of this paper aims to contribute by unravelling the key symptoms of climate change denial discourse of the above mentioned politicians as well as the dominant frames and discursive strategies used to deny both the anthropogenic climate change and the climate change politics. The last goal of the analysis is to describe in what aspects the linguistic means of selected right-wing populists differ or intertwine with the language of right-wing conservatives. Author and the World of text

In my thesis I focus on common resources of the concept of author in the context of philosophy and literary criticism, mostly in twentieth century. Moreover I look for specifics in particular fields and authors which are specific for them. The first chapter is an introduction to the issue and represents Fichte's concept of author. Next chapter introduces principles of hermeneutics and shows us the function of hermeneutic circle on the background of the text reading theory and understanding. In the third chapter are shown Roman Jakobson and Jan Mukařovský as representatives of structuralism. The first mentioned shows us a diagram of the speaker and the recipient, the second mentioned shows us on a principles of a poet. In the next chapter I introduce post- structuralism and deal with the development of terms like archive and discourse as well as the changing of the role of an author. The last chapter is focused on orality and narrative in the context of an author as a narrator. The world of fiction is also reflected.
How Linguistics Can Assist in the Court of Law

The thesis defines selected key areas of judicial practice in which linguistics can be beneficial. These areas include trial discourse, using language analysis as evidence, interviewing child witnesses, and court interpreting. There are several linguistic subfields and theories which can be used in the court of law in these specific cases. The specific subfields and theories are mentioned and described while putting emphasis on the way they can be used in practice. The thesis also aims to mention concrete cases from the court of law and show how it is possible to apply linguistics and what is its contribution to improving the practice of the court of law

of diploma thesis ‚Seek Russians behind everything: Critical research of "Russian disinformation campaign" discourse in the Czech republic'. Author: Bc. Adam Čech Supervised by: Dagmar Rychnovská, M.A., LL.M., Ph.D. Study programme: International relations Year of work defence: 2019 This study researches the "Russian disinformation campaign threat" discourse, that was established in the Czech republic since 2014. The study utilizes a method termed for the purpose of this work as "lesser discourse analysis". It explores the origins and influences that played a role in creation of a specific understanding of the topic. Subsequently it engages in a critical analysis of the discourse and assesses whether the understanding of the Russian hybrid threat, especially regarding the disinformation, is legitimate and based on known facts and correct interpretation of them, or whether it is not (partially) based on delusions, myths, logical shortcuts, misinformation (or possibly disinformation) on part of the creators and active participators of the discourse. The study also presents a set of recommendations to "straighten" the discourse on this important topic. The Selected Aspects Affecting Formation of the Pension Policy in the Czech Republic in 1990-2017

1 Abstract The diploma thesis focuses on defining the factors that significantly influence the frame of the pension reform in years 1990-2017. It observes the evolution of the predominant discourses relevant to each period, as well as the role of political parties, both from the point of view of individual governments and during their activity within the expert committees focusing on adjustments to the pension system. The thesis analyses the election programmes of political parties and movements, which are then confronted with the submitted variants within the I Bezděk Committee and the Expert Committee on Pension Reform. There is also a role analysis of other selected participants, who significantly contributed to the creation of possible reform options. The thesis finds answers to the set hypotheses dedicated to the issue of political parties and their interest and possible consistency in the field of pension reform. The impact of the created coalitions on the deviations from the originally declared intentions and the expert committee's influence on the possible form of the pension reform are discussed, too. Annotation The Bachelor Thesis is a result of survey in a field of Literary history and Literary theory. As might be expected it is based on qualitative research. Outcome of quantitative research is meant only to second our thesis. The Thesis reflects the latest state of research in above-mentioned fields and it leans on some of the former structuralistic or neostructuralistic Thesis. The Bachelor Thesis endeavors to bring new knowledge about one of literary group members associated with weekly magazine Lumir and a disciple of Jaroslav Vrchlicky Augustin Eugen Muzik (1859-1925). As far as general phase is concerned, in the context of bohemian literary discourse Thesis is devoted to 80s & 90s and it is further focused on artifacts of parnassism. The analytical part of the Thesis is based on poem analysis Libusino loze, Balady a legendy (1884) and its intepretation. There is also comparison to Toman a lesni panna, Ohlas pisni ceskych (1839) by F. L. Celakovsky included since we spotted some similarities between these two poems.
