The development of the first facilities offering treatment programmes for alcohol-dependent patients in Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia: analysis of the historical and institutional framework and context of the origin, development, and dissolution of such programmes until 1945

Background: The tradition of specialised institutional alcohol treatment in what is now the Czech Republic dates back over a hundred years. The first modern institution aimed at treating alcohol dependency began to operate on 7 September 1948. While formally constituting an organisational unit of the Psychiatric Clinic, the "U Apolináře" facility, headed by Dr. Jaroslav Skála, was an independent workplace which gave rise to a distinct treatment approach. Becoming known as the "Apolinar" treatment model, this approach was adopted by all the residential alcohol treatment facilities which came into existence or operated in Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1989. Before the establishment of this department, three similar treatment facilities existed on the historical territory of Czechoslovakia - Velké Kunčice (1911 to 1915), Tuchlov (1923 to 1938), and Istebné nad Oravou (1937 to 1939/1949). Reintegration of people after alcohol treatment into daily life

This diploma thesis deals with an issue of treatment of alcohol dependence and the process of social inclusion of people who have undergone this process. The thesis provides an overview of services and other forms of assistance that are targeted at this group. Attention is paid mainly to the current set-up of the services and assistance system to identify strong and weak aspects of the system. The work is based on a qualitative research. The research was conducted throught expert interviews and interviews with users of these services. Theoretical basis of the work is the ethiology of addiction, which offers various explanations of the origin and persistence of the problem of alcohol dependence. The work also uses the findings of the life course perspective, which allows to map the life trajectories of the interviewees, including the recognition of key events in their lives affecting the emergence and development of addicton. The last theoretical starting point of the work is the concept of social inclusion.

The aim of this work is to bring a comprehensive overview of the problems of alcoholism, its impact on the patient's health, obstacles for the therapist and used physiotherapeutic approaches. The introductory, theoretical part describes the origin of alcohol dependence and its composition, incidence and abuse. It deals with the effects of alcohol on the human body and comorbid disease. Problematics of an alcohol addicted patient at the psychiatric department of the general hospital

This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of alcohol dependence and nursing care provided to patients with this dependence in the Psychiatric Ward of General Hospitals. The theoretical part of this thesis is devoted to the concept of addiction, alcoholism and the impact of alcoholism on health. Then there are desribed types of treatment of alcohol dependence and specifics of nursing care of patients with alcohol dependence in Psychiatric Ward. In the empirical part of this thesis the research goal was set: to map the issue of providing nursing care for alcohol-dependent patient in Psychiatric Ward. Based on this research goal, research questions were prepared: What role do nurses play in nursing care for alcohol-dependent patients during hospitalization in a Psychiatric Ward and what is the difficulty of providing nursing to alcohol-dependent patients. Qualitative research was used to achieve a set goal. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews. The research sample consisted of 16 nurses working in the psychiatric ward of General Hospitals. The obtained information was then processed by open coding, using the pencil-paper method. The results of the research show that the issue of providing nursing care for alcohol-dependent patients depends on the current state of the patient, previous attempts to treat addiction or many other factors. The role of nurses has its specifics and has an integral part in the treatment of alcohol dependence. The difficulty of providing nursing care can be influenced by the frequency of encountering alcohol addicts, the length of their hospitalization or the occurrence of agitation and aggression.
Legal, Social and Criminogenic Aspects of Alcoholism

This bachelor thesis deals with alcohol dependence, and what problems this dependence has. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the influence of alcohol dependence on the individual's social status and, above all, on what social problems are most often encountered by people dependent on alcohol. Equally important is to find out what the relationship between increased alcohol consumption and crime is, and what crime is most often done under the influence of alcohol. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part, with the help of specialized literature, defines the characteristics of alcoholism. Furthermore, it is important in the theoretical level to describe the legal, social and criminogenic aspects of alcoholism. In the practical part, the work goes in social and criminogenic direction. Alcohol-dependent social problems were identified through questionnaires. Research on alcohol-related crime was carried out through analyzes of statistical documents of the Police of the Czech Republic.
