Sagačová, Markéta ; Heřmanský, Martin (advisor) ; Wolfová, Alžběta (referee)
The thesis strives for the anthropological interpretation of the body within queer enterprise. It tries to capture, interpret and understand the processes that form human bodies in this enterprise, in this thesis called Osvěžovna. Osvěžovna can be considered a certain social field within the queer habit is manifested; and as it truned out some sort of "friendly" habit too. With regard to the research landscape and research questions, the main research method is qualitative - participant observation. The main theoretical concept is the division of the cultural dimension of the human body into three structural levels according to Soukup and Balcer. This structure affects the division of thesis itself, which gradually deals with the techniques of the use of the human body and the ways in which the human body in Osvěžovna is modified; the way the human body is disciplined there; and what cultural significance can be found in Osvěžovna. This division is supplemented by the level of consumption. In conclusion are these findings summarized and there is also confirmation that these structural levels of the human body are very often intertwined. That points the integrity of the body culture system in Osvěžovna. Key words body; queer; anthropology; discipline; habitus

Because of interdisciplinary character of gender research this work is also related to psychology and biology and presents the connection between findings of both disciplines. Hrdlička Museum of Man during years 1929-1939 as an example of a popularization of scientific knowledge.
Toman, Petr ; Stella, Marco (advisor) ; Šimůnek, Michal (referee)
This work is part of a broader effort to revitalize the Hrdlička Museum of Man and to research it from a historical perspective. Starting from the view that the popularization of science by museums in general is problematic and a viable topic for the social sciences, the work attempts to focus on the way the exhibition at the Hrdlička Museum of Man was constructed by its creators. This topic is analyzed from three main perspectives: 1st the scientific standpoints and personal worldviews of the creators, 2nd relations between the museum and the public, and 3rd relations between the museum and the nation state; also, the influence of the building process itself is taken into account. The intention of the work is to look at the origin of the Hrdlička Museum of Man within its cultural, social and political context rather than focus purely on a historical description. It is an attempt to bring to light all the "unscientific" phenomena that shaped the exhibition's scientific, objective and authoritative message to the public. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Representations of siege warfare in journals of British defenders of Bergen-op-zoom in 1747, adheres at specific genre of historical anthropology of war and military. It poses questions regarding ana-lysis of contemporary culture of war and its individual variables, their interdependence and changing configuration during the siege of Bergen-op-zoom in 1747, during culmination point of War of Austrian Succession. Meaning of this text consists of an effort to discover alternative way of treating historical sources and to depart traditional conservative methods of analyzing the war conflict using national or confessional military stereotypes, essential features of key actors or theoretical normative of military science. The text comes to conclusion that most irregular and dramatic character of the siege of Bergen-op-zoom was primarily caused by profound misunderstanding between defenders and attackers regarding culture of war, especially acceptable definition of military honour and of legitimate combat techniques. Comparison of Spengler's and Kroeber's Visions of Culture.
Hájek, Daniel ; Vrhel, František (advisor) ; Korecká, Zuzana (referee)
The thesis compares the concepts of culture of German historian Oswald Spengler and American anthropologist Alfred Louis Kroeber. Both authors shared interest in comparative study of civilizations and similar approaches to it, based on an assumption, that culture is a distinct level of reality, nonreductible to its parts, but on the contrary controlling them. This conception is sometimes refered to as superorganic. Each of the scholars compared here hit upon the idea by other ways, hence it carries some different implications for them. The concepts and related methods are analyzed in this work with focus on revealing their assumptions. The explicit comparison is made in the end of the work. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
