The Rehabilitation of the historical center and adjacent surroundings of Kyjov with a focus on the public space
Kratochvilová, Jana ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the construction and activation of the territory in connection with the historical center of Kyjov. Part of the proposal was to work with an existing urban brownfield and an extensive park, which accounts for almost half the area under consideration. The goal, as I set out in my work, is to activate the territory and design an urban sprawl with a suitable functional structure. The proposed design respects the context and character of the site in a modern and sustainable manner. The principles followed in my work are based on the current urban and city-forming rules. I have put an emphasis on the human scale, the priority of pedestrians over traffic, and especially the shortcomings and needs in the territory that arise from the analysis. The draft concept is based on the permeability and interconnection of the individual parts of the city, the insertion of a new public space and the completion of the city block. The new urban sprawl clearly defines the street, completes the boundaries and makes the most of the area on the released land. The newly designed buildings are residential and multi-functional houses with active parterres. Part of the proposal is the revitalization of the city park, which explores its hidden potential. The basic step is to remove obstacles in the permeability of the park and to highlight its strengths, such as the flowing river Kyjovka, healthy large trees and the size of the park itself.

Chosen territory is located on the Libušina street, Brno - Kohoutovice. Socio-kultural center with townhall will serve as the dominant of district. Due to its shape, which is growing up, it reflects the character of the surrounding high-rise buildings. Entrance to the building is concentrated in one space, the communication part, which connects two masses - the town hall and socio-cultural center. Office space is structured around the perimeter of the building and also organized as a contact point with the society, due to glass partitions. The interior space of the town hall is lighted by glass atrium that allows sunlight penetrates to the whole building. Socio-kultural center with townhall is an expressive architectural element and includes three functions: culture, recreation and sport. The main part of the building is the multifunctional hall, that is used for such purposes as big celebrations, performances, music and dance events and film screenings. Urbánek, Libor ; Pechman, Tomáš (referee) ; Sochor, Jan (advisor)
Architectural conception reflects most problematic issues of the contemporary status. These issues are: too many functions under one roof related to confusing operation, low constructional height and poor backlightening. Thanks to elimination of too many functions and clear definition of new operation the new space has been established inside the building, which is not already used but it is removed from mass of the building. the new solution creates proper backlightening as well as enhances orientation inside of the building. The construction is therefore more open towards its surrounding.
Modern Art Gallery
Aulisa, Marco ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the draft of a new building of the Modern Art Gallery. The plots in question, i. e. no. 272/51 and no. 272/56, on which the construction project is placed, is located in the cadastral area of the city of Brno, with the main access to the land from Benešova street. The building is situated on the land near the border of the plot with Koliště Street, i. e. on its northeast side. The basic concept of the project, that originates from the sole frequency of the surrounding streets, aims to balance the unevenness of the housing development. At the same time, one of the objectives of this thesis is to develop the plot so that the character of the circular bypass around the city centre is preserved. The shape of the final draft was greatly influenced by two urban axes, namely north and southwest, one of which characterizes the housing development in the direction from the Brno City Hall and the other is characteristic for buildings located in the direction of the Main Train Station. The axes then meet in the middle of the proposed building. The proposed building has four floors, while the underground floor also serves as an garage. On the first floor there is a café, which is connected to a outdoor space with staircase steps. The layout of the gallery on all floors is multifunctional. The third floor also partially serves as a terrace. The proposed building is characterized by inducing a feeling of lightening, which was achieved by embedding the first and third floors inwards and also rounding the corners of the façade of the second floor. An important element of the building is also the solution of natural light penetration. Within the exhibition areas, natural lighting is solved by a fully glazed façade, where a foil is inserted between the individual glasses, which absorbs all direct rays. Only neutral dispersion light gets inside the object. The facade of the building is solved by concrete cladding in its natural design.
