Impacts of alcohol addiction in the relation to spirituality of addicted persons - questionnaire survey

INTRODUCTION - The bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between negative effects of alcohol addiction on a person's life and his/her individual spirituality. OBJECTIVE - The main aim of the thesis is to find the relationship between impacts of alcohol addiciton in different areas of life and the individual's spirituality. Another objective was to clarify the differences in spirituality and other characteristics of Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) members and clients of professional addictology services. PARTICIPANTS - 98 respondents participating in the questionnaire survey were members of the AA groups in various regions of the Czech Republic and clients or patients of six addictology health or social care services. METHOD - The research was conducted through an anonymous questionnaire survey, in both paper and online form. The questionnaire was based on the Motivational questionnaire of MUDr. Karel Nespor and Pražský spirituality questionnaire (the Prague Questionnaire of Spirituality, PQS 36). The data were processed in Excel and the IBM SPSS Statistics. Treatment approach in alcohol addiction in the Hundred Year - comparative study of Velke Kuncice and Apolinar

Background: The treatment of the alcohol addiction has achieved a level where there is needed an institution that will control its treatment, define it, process it and evaluate its outputs. Although it is necessary to follow new trends it is also necessary to use already defined sets of rules so that the previous results obtained during the treatments activities are not lost. Aim: To compare development in the treatment approaches of the alcohol addiction during the century focused on treatment approaches of the P. Bderich Konarik, which were used in the Velke Kuncice facility and with the treatment approach of the Apolinar facility during the Jaroslav Skala's leadership period in the facility. Methods: The analysis was processed in the format of a simple historic comparation of the institutions where there was carried out indentification of the historic information and a basic review of the documents. They were found using the National museum interfaces and the local areal archives. A systematic evaluation of the information connected with the treatment facilities and their staff was processed. "The experience of alcohol-addicted clients after institutional treatment"

Bases: In institutional care, the clients are taken out of their natural ambient. In safe institutional ambience, the abstinence is easier. During the institutional treatment, the client should get new overview of his addiction, enforce his decision for a change and reevaluate his lifestyle. The clients often return back to their unsatisfying living conditions. The addiction influences all domains of human existence, therefore it is important that clients get the care in accordance with their needs during and after the institutional treatment. Aims: The main aim of this thesis is to find how the alcohol addicted clients, the clients repetitively hospitalized for the relapses, lived through the retrieve into the normal life after the institutional treatment. The other aim is to find usual problems that arise after the treatment and reasons for the relapse. Moreover, the question is what the experience with the aftercare care is and what is the main support on their way to recovery. I have focused on the period between the first and the last treatment. The principal research questions: Which factors influenced the relapse of the clients? Other research questions: What are the experiences with the aftercare programs? Analysis of male and female diaries in addictology services

The Bachelor's thesis titled "Male and Female Writing during the Treatment Process: Analyzing the Journal Entries of Alcohol Addicted Men and Women" deals with the differences in motifs present in personal journal entries written by patients diagnosed with alcohol addiction who are in the process of undergoing mid-term residual treatment at Brno Psychiatric Hospital. The theoretical part defines the writing of a journal as a psychotherapeutic instrument, the notion of differences between alcohol addicted men and women, the "Apolinar" (or "Skala") model used at Brno Psychiatric Hospital, and the treatment stages. The empirical part addresses the matters of research, methodology, and the process of data collection to enable a qualitative content analysis of written documents created during the treatment. The research showed that the most effective motivational factors for both genders are group psychotherapy, which the clients would appreciate in higher intensity, and the support from their families and partners, including their involvement in the treatment. The results point out the importance of cultivating both social and family relationships as a part of the treatment. International comparison of alcohol abuse treatment in the Czech Republic, Belgium and Uganda

Background: Alcohol addiction is a widespread social problem worldwide. Countries with high prevalence of alcohol consumption try to react on this situation. Addiction treatment is closely determined by public health and the health care system of each country, which define its role. Aims: The main aim of this study is a description of comparison focused on alcohol abuse treatment in the Czech Republic, Belgium and Uganda. Secondary aim is to understand basic principles of treatment in chosen countries through qualitative research methods and the insight into advantages and disadvantages of treatment programs. Methods: The concept of the study is based on a qualitative research methodology. The starting point of this research was an analysis of interviews conducted by David Kalema with patients treated in medical facilities in Belgium and Uganda. Also semi-structured interviews were conducted with patients of two mental hospitals in the Czech Republic. The selection method used in this study was a purposeful sampling method. The phenomenon of alcoholism and opportunities for social work

This diploma thesis explores the phenomenon of formation and development of alcohol dependence. In the first series focuses on the historical description, which demonstrates considerable anchored in the life of our ancestors already. It also defines the concept of addiction, its causes and consequences, whether psychological, medical or social. Its objective is to describe the possibilities of social work in this phenomenon. defines therefore primarily targets and understanding of social work and consequently specifics of client alcoholism. An important element is the role of the social worker in the client's motivation to change, which uses Nešpor's model of spontaneous changes in motivation. Then, on the basis of available social services selects several most suitable, which can help to improve the client's situation. Has an essential role in this issue also primary prevention, ie it discusses the methodology, target groups, focusing on adolescents and the focus is on the firm role of the family. Finally contains some official documents on primary prevention, which are discussed current issues of primary prevention practice and subsequent survey, mapping aspect of social workers on the incidence risk of alcohol dependence among adolescents attending social facilities.

The position of community Alcoholics Anonymous in addiction services system: Experience and attitudes of AA members in Prague

Alcoholics Anonymous is the largest and best-known self-help organization. In the Czech Republic, neither its position nor its number and characteristics of its members are known yet. Therefore it is necessary to learn more about them. There is a supervised therapy, as well as AA. Is it possible to find a connection between these "different" approaches to alcohol addiction therapy? The theoretical part contains a description of alcohol addiction, information about the system of medical care for alcoholics and information on the current situation in the Czech Republic. The most important information is described in the chapter on Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship. The main research objective is to describe the characteristics, behavior and motivation of all AA groups in Prague and possibly find out which place can AA hold in the system of addictology services. In accordance with the objective five research questions were specified. Data were collected through a questionnaire and subsequently analyzed using mathematical and statistical techniques with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 20 software. The nutrition of clients addicted to alcohol during treatment stay in a psychiatric hospital

The topic of the thesis focuses on nutrition for people addicted to alcohol. The theoretical part of the thesis is to describe and adequate nutrition recommendations, which should people addicted to alcohol optimally receive. This section will describe the appropriate food components in the context of a variety of somatic and psychological changes in clients addicted to alcohol. There is also described the problems with the long-term consumption of high doses of alcohol occur in the context of micro and macronutrients. Trying to look for personality structure of individuals dependent on alcohol, psychoactive substances and pathological gamblers. Describes differences in personality structure between the user and the differences between men and women. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to the present the accessible knowledge in the field of personality-dependent individuals. The empirical part of the work deals with a research carried out at the pavilions of addictions in a psychiatric hospital Prague Bohnice. In the empirical part of the research hypotheses and set goals that are subsequently evaluated. This thesis provides insight into the personality of addicted individuals and their own research conclusions are largely consistent with findings from the literature.
