Upgrading of Praha Liběň Locomotive Servicing Depot
Ondra, Michal ; Burda, Petr (referee) ; Svoboda, Richard (advisor)
The topic of my thesis is to study the complex reconstruction of the locomotive servicing depot Praha Liben. The locomotive depot is both operational maintenance and repair trains. The section reconstruction begins in turnout number 1, the whole area locomotive depot will be reconstructed. The main task is to propose an exchange of stepped old construction turnout for turnout new one in the whole area of the depot. The total number of changed points is 27. Depot demolition tasks in order to extend the track number 10 on the minimum usable effective length of 105 meters is the other task. Establishment of two dead-end tracks number 15 and 17 will be extend to an effective length of 105 metres. Retaining wall with PU componentsis designed along track 17. The next task is to solve the drainage area. The area will be drained interconnected system drains into the sewer and trench walls.
Analysis of dynamic effects acting on the turnout constructions
Hajniš, Jan ; Vukušič, Ivan (referee) ; Smutný, Jaroslav (advisor)
Author´s name: Jan Hajniš School: Technical University - VUT, Brno Faculty of Civil Engineering Veveří 331/95, 602 00 Brno Program: Construction and Transportation Engineering Title: Analysis of dynamic effects acting on the turnout constructions Consultant: Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Smutný, Ph.D. Number of pages: about 70 + attachments Number of attachments: about 40 Year: 2012 This work describes the size and the process of dynamic effect – vibrations and shift – cockles in crossing panel and switch panels of the turnout constructions on steel and concrete sleepers in time and frequency domain. It compares the results of the measurement between these turnout constructions. Dynamic effects are undesirable physical phenomena for operation each train. It is therefore necessary to eliminate these phenomena as much as possible. The result of this test will by means of software programm and measuring set help to determine precisely the advantages and disadvantages of using both turnout constructions, or even to propose their improvements or dimensions.
Vsetin - Velke Karlovice Railway Track Refurbishment (section between km 2.725 - 6.000 km) Including Track Laying Technology
Klar, Vít ; Hoza, Miroslav (referee) ; Říha, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of track geometry parameters and the reconstruction of the selected section of Vsetín – Velké Karlovice railway track’s superstructure. This reconstruction expands to further include the connection track to the Bečva branch. This proposal has been designed with the following objects in mind: railway stops Ústí u Vsetína and Janová, railway crossings, bridges, culverts, etc. Finally, this proposal addresses the restoration of drainage along the tracks and track laying technology. It should be noted, that all proposed adjustments are designed according to current regulations and legislation.
Vsetin - Velke Karlovice Railway Track Refurbishment (section between km 17,000 - 19,950 km) Including Track Laying Technology
Kulich, Pavel ; Pokorný, Ondřej (referee) ; Říha, Tomáš (advisor)
Bachelor´s thesis deals with design of permanent way and track geometry parameters of the selected section of Vsetín – Velké Karlovice railway track. The design should be considered primarily on existing objects such as railway crossings, culverts, railway stops, bridges , etc. Thesis includes restoration of drainage and track laying technology. It should be noted, that all proposed adjustments are designed according to current regulations and legislation.
The analysis of dynamic effects acting on the turnout with a focus on structural condition

The effect of rainfall on voter turnout: Evidence from the Czech Republic
Kubíková, Kristina ; Palanský, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Existing research suggests that rainfall on election days has, at least under some circumstances, a significant negative effect on voter turnout. The purpose of this thesis is to assess whether this is also the case in the Czech Republic. The results support the hypothesis, with the preferred specification suggesting that one additional millimeter (mm) of precipitation on election day is associated with a drop in turnout rates of around 0.26 to 0.38 percentage points. We find that election type plays a key role in determining the effect of rainfall on voter's participation. For the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, we find evidence of an inverted U-shape relationship, consistent with the notion that small amounts of rain do not play a significant role in an important election, while heavy rain (around 6mm and more) decreases turnout with every additional mm of rain. For the elections to the European Parliament, which are generally perceived as less important, we find turnout to be negatively associated with even smaller amounts of rain: one additional mm of rain is associated with a 0.82 percentage point decrease in the turnout rate. Finally, we study the link between the closeness of the election results, precipitation, and turnout, and we find that for important elections, a close fight...
Technology of Online Voting Systems
Early Voting in the U.S. Election System
Horký, Miroslav ; Kotábová, Věra (advisor) ; Švec, Radek (referee)
The bachelor thesis Early voting in the U. S. Election System deals with the concept, which aims to significantly simplify the election process to increase the turnout and make the access to electoral process easier to most people. The bachelor thesis defines terms early voting and absentee voting and its expansion. The analysis is also focused on differences between Election day voters and early voters. The operation of early voting in practice is illustrated in three cases from states Florida, Oregon and Virginia. Advantages and disadvantages of this type of voting and view to the future are presented in final part of thesis. The emphasis is also placed on the global expansion of this type of voting, which allows to cast ballot prior the Election day. The current electoral system of the Czech Republic, which does not allow to vote early is also mentioned in thesis.
Voters and Non-voters in the Czech Republic
Vavřinová, Tereza ; Linek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Hendl, Jan (referee)
This study discusses voting behavior of the citizens in The Czech republic. Traditional studies of voting behavior differentiate between voters and nonvoters according to their turnout in one election. This thesis takes up multielection approach and differentiates three categories of voting behavior- voters, nonvoters and irregular voters. Specific features of voters, nonvoters and irregular voters are identified using logistic regression analysis. Theoretically, the study is based on socioeconomic, motivational and mobilization theories of turnout. The focus is put on the decision making of irregular voters. Circumstances tied with irregular voters' turnout are identified. The discussion on methodological problems connected with multi-election approach and research of electoral behavior generally is part of the thesis. The Czech election study 2010 is a main source of the data for analysis.
Upgrading of Viskafors Railway Station
Blaňková, Monika ; Melecký, Martin (referee) ; Svoboda, Richard (advisor)
The main aim of the diploma thesis is reconstruction of Viskafors railway station and its adjacent track at KM146+ 800 - 145+ 700 so as to satisfy the current traffic and at the same time the legislation is met. The tracks geometry and turnouts in the station was solved according to Swedish and Czech standards and conventions. As part of the reconstruction, the connection of the service track was resolved from the north side.
