Traces of the disappeared neighborhood. The Art Project for 1st Grade of Elementary School (theoretical-project thesis)

This Master's Thesis represents theoretical bases and practical source for teachers of Art education at the first stage of elementary school. It focuses on introducing the issue of disappeared municipalities of the Temelín microregion through the art installations of pupils in the first grade of elementary school. The individual issues are first debated on in the theoretical part which acquaint the reader with lost locations, the history of the villages and further develops project teaching in Art education. In the following practical part, the reader is presented with a specific art series documenting individual art lessons. The Master's Thesis is then completed by graphic attachments.
The Shoes Stories. Themes for the Creative Project for Art Education at Primary School.

Diploma thesis called "The Story of Shoes" introduces shoes as an inspiring theme for art-project teaching at primary school. The theoretical part offers a brief overview of footwear history in the context of cultural and social development of civilisation. The introduction of technologies and material composition for shoe manufacture brings us the complex view into the problematics and it clearly processes the shoe typology from the point of view of its function and design. Treatise about shoes as a motive and theme in history of fine arts and its application in the context of art-project teaching is the next object of exploration in the first part of the text. The practical part of the thesis realized at elementary school Máj I. in ČB then researches applicability of the theme into praxis of art lessons at primary school.
Drama and educational lessons designed with primary school children

In my thesis I focus on the benefits of drama education for primary school pupils. In the introduction, I consider the theoretical basis of drama education, project teaching, their use and the impact on the child's personality. An important chapter of the theoretical part is the developmental specifics of first-grade children. Main part of the work is the design of educational lessons for all grades of primary school. The focus of the work is the elaboration of drama-educational lessons within one topic (St. Ursula - the patroness of Ursula's education). Every lesson is designed so that it corresponds to the developmental level of students in a particular year. The practical part contains action research and evaluation of the questionnaire, which will check the depth of students' knowledge before and after the project within the given topic. Further includes a questionnaire for feedback from teachers of individual classes. The implementation of the proposed project is supplemented by a description, self-reflection and comparison of work in individual years. The second part of the diploma thesis also includes a comparison of the used methods of drama education in terms of functionality, with regard to the age and developmental specifics of students of individual years. Options of implementation of the project teaching for German language teaching in the first level of elementary school

This Diploma thesis deals with the project teaching and with the options of implementation of this method into second language teaching in the first level of elementary schools. Theoretical part of the thesis focuses on history, characteristics, classification, phases, advantages and disadvantages of the project teaching. In the second part, the thesis is based on a five-hour long project called "Berlin entdecken" created by the author and realized in the fifth year of elementary school with the extended second language teaching specialization. The thesis aims to find out students' attitude towards the project teaching. Also, based on a case study, it tries to find out whether the integration of this teaching method is applicable to teaching process among students with different education expectations. The research draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods (i.e. questionnaire, observation, and structured interview). Based on the carried out research, the thesis find out that the project teaching is an appropriate method for second language teaching in the first level of elementary schools. Development reading literacy by project in primary school

This thesis open the problematics of reading literacy and its development by project teaching. Dissertation is divided into two parts - theoretically and practically. In the first part there is described foundation of projects and project teaching, its history and advantages of its technique. Another topic is reading literacy, especially different concepts and ways of development by RWCT, creative drama and project teaching. Particular project is described in empiric part. Pupils of third class at primal school were observed during project. Qualitative and quantitative research is used in this thesis. The aim of research is influence of project teaching on pupil's motivation during the work with reading matter.
Use of drama methods in historical studies at primary school

This thesis examines the possibilities of linking historiographical education and drama curriculum in primary school using action research. The theoretical part examines various educational and psychological bases that support the idea of linking drama and historiographical education and defines the possibilities of the involvement of drama as a teaching method in the primary school. The practical part contains specific proposal of two lessons with historiographical themes and also includes evaluation of their implementation in 4th and 5th class. Both lessons are designed and implemented in accordance with the teachings of Three-phase, respecting the psychological aspects of the target group. Lessons use mainly drama methods, marginally methods of curriculum Reading and writing to critical thinking, Experiential learning, Project teaching and Cooperative learning are used. Action research is evaluated through observation and detailed description of teacher reflection.
"Become a detective" - Topic work focused on forensic analysis

UHERČÍKOVÁ, G. : "Become a detective" (Topic work focused on forensic analysis). Master thesis. Prague, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Science, Department of Teaching & Didacties of Chemistry, 2013. This thesis deals with the preparation of a draft project for secondary school students on the theme "Become a detective." This is a complex project that is focused not only on the information of biology and chemistry, but also for forensic analysis. The theoretical part is focused on a general production project, forensic analysis, fingerprints, DNA and qualitative analysis. Theory of this part helps pupils and teachers to understand the problem. The practical part contains the whole project within worksheets to copyright solution for teachers. Worksheets are designed to help students manage the entire project. Materials designed for students are attached to this thesis. The project was tested on 30. 4. 2013 in the laboratory of the Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. The project involved 13 pupils from Gymnasium Omská, Prague, 10.
Industrial Revolution: efficiency of the project teaching compared to lecture method

The thesis is aimed at two different teaching methods, which are compared not only from the viewpoint of their positives and negatives, but also their effectiveness is valuated. One thematic unit from the history curriculum at lower-secondary school is chosen and two different methods are applied, one is based on lecture method, the other one involves project teaching. The effectiveness of the methods is ascertained on the basis of applying these methods in two teaching classes of elementary school. The common thematic unit is Industrial Revolution. According to the number of points every pupil achieves in the didactical test, the class with project teaching turned out better, however the difference was not so prominent. Important is that the effectiveness of both methods cannot be measured based only on number of obtained points. For this reason the author uses another evaluation of methods based on the Bloom's Taxonomy of educational objectives. By analysing the pupil's answers it was ascertained, that the pupils using the project teaching achieved (apart from factual knowledge) also the procedural and conceptual knowledge, which was found in their answer formulations. This diploma work Addicted Substances - project for the lower secondary school is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The aim of this work is giving information about addicted drugs and method of teaching by form of projects, proposing and realization of project with this topic, which could be used for other teachers. Theoretical part is intent on summary of question of addicted substances, where the terms addicted substances, abuse of addicted drugs - its symptoms or risks, causes of drugs addiction and some terms, what are connected with this question (e.g. habit, tolerance, addiction, syndrome of abstinence), are clarified. In this work, there are also mentioned division of these substances in more points of views, character of chosen addicted substances, where is described basic division according to availability - legal and illegal drugs. Representatives or categories of addicted substances, their characteristic and effects on human organism, are mentioned within this dividing. Issues of projects, their methods and project teaching, fall into theoretical part too. The terms like schooling, its methods, project method or project and key term project are also clarified here.
