Comparison of major paradigms for application development
Hartman, Michael ; Procházka, Josef (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Tomáš (referee)
4 ABSTRACT This thesis deals with comparison of major paradigms for application development, namely procedural, object oriented and functional paradigm. First chapter consists of brief history of application development with emphasis on the paradigms being used. Second chapter introduces main principles and constructs, which are these paradigms based on. For some of which, especially the more complicated ones, examples are included to facilitate easier understanding of the subject. The thesis also contains analysis of existing projects, which are using described paradigms and model implementation of simple application using each of given paradigms. This whole thesis focuses on comparison of the described paradigms and differences among used principles and constructs. The advantages and disadvantages of analyzed paradigms for different types of projects are discussed in chapter four. Based on conclusions of this paper, it is best to use procedural paradigm for development of simple and small projects. For more complex projects of larger scale, it is better to use object-oriented paradigm. Functional paradigm could be used for any type of project, but it has higher requirements for the experience and level of abstraction of the developer who implements the project. 7 Habits and principles of management
Tyl, Alan ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Lejsal, Matěj (referee)
This thesis aims to identify the principles that managers use in their work. The work of Stephen Covey "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" is used as an object of research. Primarily, a Covey's claim that the 7 habits are universal and timeless is analyzed, in an effort to identify universal principles of effectivity and their relationship to management. All of the habits are paraphrased and compared to the work of other popular authors from the area of social sciences. Subsequently, a comparison between the 7 habits and historical development of organization theory and its lessons is conducted. Further along, a description of critical reflection of the 7 habits from five standpoints is presented: post-modern, feminism, critical pedagogy, non-functionalism and exclusive representation. Finally, the author of the thesis presents his personal experience with implementing the 7 habits in his professional and personal life. From the findings, this thesis comes to the conclusion that Covey's system of 7 habits is possibly a quality source of information when searching for universal principles of effectivity. At the same time, it warns that it is possible that the habits are only universally applicable within the scope of the time and background of western thinking they were developed in. In the closing,...

Tumours in historical and social context in the modern period
Hrudka, Jan ; Komárek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Tinková, Daniela (referee) ; Stingl, Josef (referee)
Univerzita Karlova v Praze Přírodovědecká fakulta Studijní program: Filosofie a dějiny přírodních věd MUDr. Jan Hrudka Nádory v dějinném a kulturním kontextu v novověku Tumours in historical and social context in the modern period Disertační práce Školitel / Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Stanislav Komárek, Dr. Praha, 2017 SUMMARY: The PhD thesis called Tumours in historical and social context in the modern period is an attempt to describe a change of medical thinking in modern period; science and medicine turns from antique humoral pathology, explaining all diseases as an imbalance of the four body humours, to pathological anatomy and experimental physiology. In the point of view of pathological anatomy, the viscera of diseased person are no more "screen" or "mirror" of the disease, but it becomes directly the "stage" or "theatre" of the acting disease. This shift in the thought may be labelled as movement from humoralism to localism or ontologism; the disease isn't just abnormal amount of some natural juice any more, but becomes new original entity. This change undergoes the understanding of tumours and cancerous disease as well. Instead of antique understanding tumours as precipitates of black bile, the cell theory occurs in the 19th century. This theory explains tumours as a mass of cells undergoing excessive...
Patterns of Czech Film-dramturgical Poetics
Csicsely, Lukáš ; Svatoňová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Klimeš, Ivan (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on Czech academic film dramaturgy. Dramaturgy in this sense refers to the activity of the dramaturge in the creation of a film work of art. His performance is theoretically grounded upon a long tradition beginning with Aristotle's Poetics, generally called poetics, and this thesis consists of a comparison of such film poetics published at FAMU, within the department of scriptwriting and dramaturgy, examined through the perspective of Prague structuralism, and with the mentioned traditions on background. No other theoretical work has dealt with this material so far, so my aim is to map the basic problems of this closed field, with an emphasis on how the tradition is adapted to the specific requirements of film.

Evolution of Mykola Bazhan's poetry: from avant-garde to socialist realism (illustrated by his works of 1920s-30s).
Babak, Galyna ; Chlaňová, Tereza (advisor) ; Sverdan, Tetiana (referee)
This MA thesis is focused on the analysis of stylistic originality of Mykola Bazhan texts of the 1920-30s. The texts are considered in cultural and ideological context of this period, which is a result of a mixture of two artistic and philosophical platforms: avant-garde and socialist realism. Trying to reach this aim I trace the correlation of avant-garde and socialist realism poetic and cultural paradigms in Mykola Bazhan poems, the correlation which defines the stylistic originality of his texts from this period. The introductory chapter presents a detailed analysis of the development of Ukrainian literature in the late 19th - early 20th century. I focus on modernist and then on avant-garde movements and literature groups. One part of the MA thesis is dedicated to literary theory - I attempt to apply basic terms like "modernism", "avant-garde", "socialist realism", etc. to the area of my research. Another problem discussed is the change of Bazhan's approach to the communist ideology during several periods of his career. After that the dissertation shifts to philological and cultural analysis of several chosen poems of Mykola Bazhan in historical, philological and ideological contexts which were discussed in the previous chapters of my work. Keywords Mykola Bazhan, modernism, avant-garde,...
Changes in Thinking About Science: Parallels of M. Foucault's Concept of Episteme and T.S. Kuhn's Concept of Paradigm
Řeháček, Pavel ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Janas, Martin (referee)
This work is focused on introduction of two science theorists Michel Foucault and Thomas S. Kuhn and their concepts of science itself. The crucial concept of Michel Foucaults work is the episteme which can be understood as epistemological field which knowledge is enabled. Foucault puts this concept into the field of archaeology of knowledge which is a methodological tool for his research. Further in the work the term discourse is explained which is used as an information value of certain epoch. This work also structures Foucaults three historical times of episteme which are interdivided by discontinuities. In Thomas S. Kuhn perception the paradigm is the key concept. This concept is the pattern of scientific research of particular historical period and represents values and approaches to research. Paradigm works in normal science as a cycle in which the cumulation of problems - anomaly - is present. When the science reaches the point where explanation of anomalies is impossible the revolution of science takes place and the whole cycle starts again. The last part of this work compares these two crucial concepts.
