Thesis Abstract This final bachelor thesis consists of two parts, czech translation of the french text and its commentary. The first part of this thesis is a translation of one section of the French breedes guide L'Homme et le chien. Bien communiquer. written by french veterinarian and entomologist Patrick Pageat. In this first part which consists on translation, I focused on creating a comprehensible and straightforward text for the czech recipient. I perserved the essential function of the original text - to provide information and give to the breeders the useful advice. The second part of the work consists detailed translation analysis of the original text. Then I focus on individual translation issues that I had to deal with in the czech text. The conclusion of the work summarizes the methods used in translation and provides the typology of problems.

The passive voice in old Awadhi

This thesis concerns with an investigation of the passive voice in Old Awadhi on the basis of one of the most important and extensive works composed in this literary dialect of Hindi - Padmávat of Malik Muhammad Jayasi (ca. 1494-1542). The main objective of the work is to compare different kinds of passives in Old Awadhi to the ones of modern standardized Hindi, both in terms of form and and in terms of its possible modal meanings. Besides theoretical description of formal and semantic aspects of the passive voice and analysis of passive verb forms in Old Awadhi, supported with a numer of specific examples, the thesis contains a description of the literary and linguistic context of Padmávat and a brief characteristic of Old Awadhi. Modality in the Teaching of German as a Foreign Language

This diploma thesis focuses on problems with expressing modality in German language system. It also deals with modality adaptation in contemporary textbooks for teaching German as a foreign language at CEFR level A1-A2. In the beginning the thesis deals with theoretical adaptation of modality and ist possibilities of expressing in grammatical and lexical system of contemporary German Language. The end of theoretical part pays attention to teaching German as a foreign language, especially to problems with grammar arrangement or more precisely modality. The empirical part focuses on analysis of modality presentation in selected textbooks at CEFR level A1-A2 at lower secondary schools and corresponding grammar schools. The attention is aimed at formal, pragmatic and stylistic aspect of presenting the phenomenon, as well as comprehensibility, suitability and reasonability of its adaptation.

Modality in German and Czech. A Contrastive Analysis

This bachelor thesis deals with the contrastive analysis of modality and its expression in Czech and German. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the problem of modality and the possibility of its expression in both languages; then modality is presented contrastively. The focus is mainly on modal verbs, modal particles and verb forms expressing modality. The practical part deals with the research itself, which is devoted to the contrastive comparison of modality in Czech and in German. For this purpose a corpus of parallel texts in Czech and German is created. Due to the character of the discussed phenomenon, Czech and German narrative texts are used, which offer sufficient amount of text stylistically diverse thanks to the essayistic elements; they also offer plenty of material for the analysed phenomenon.

Compound and Extended Final Particles

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore the morphological, syntactic, and particularly the semantic properties of specific expressions of the Japanese grammar called compound and extended sentence ending particles. The purpose of the research is to answer the question of which combinations of sentence ending particles exist in contemporary Japanese, what are the meanings of these combinations and how they can be translated into Czech. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the theoretical level, where sentence ending particles are examined in general and an overview of simple sentence ending particles is presented. In the second part, based on available academic literature and analysis of authentic language material, compound and extended sentence ending particles are examined, especially their meanings. Compound sentence ending particles kana, noka, yone and extended sentence ending particles monoka and janaika are analyzed. The conclusion of the thesis contains a summary of the specific features of the grammatical categories of compound and extended sentence ending particles.
