Müllerová, Anna ; Veverková, Kamila (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee)
This thesis provides a balanced overview of the active ideological currents in the late Middle Ages in the Czech lands concerning the doctrine of the Antichrist and the second coming of Christ. It not only deals with the religious situation during that period, but also emphasises the political, cultural and social circumstances. The text is divided into seven parts that discuss the apocalyptic sentiment and the eschatological visions prevalent in society in that period. Presented in it are the principal ideas of such prominent reformist scholars and thinkers as Jan Milíč of Kroměříž, Master Jan Hus, Jan Rokycan and Petr Chelčický. The text charts the teachings of these men, as they followed one another, concerning the issues of the concept of the Antichrist and the coming of Christ up to the period of the Hussite revolutionary movement and even later, during the early days of the Unity of Brethren. Special attention is also given to the spiritual circumstances involved in the founding of the Unity of Brethren; there the roots of its founding and its beginnings and its distinctive features are documented in the thesis. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of the reformist and the Hussite struggle for its creation. The familiar interpretations of the doctrine of the Antichrist and the coming of Christ...

Schejbalová, Dominika ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Jarošová, Markéta (referee)
In my diploma thesis I deal with the family of the lords of Hradec, who in the 15th century strongly opposed George of Poděbrady and at the same time worked in important diplomatic circles, mostly alongside the rulers of the Czech kingdom. The main point of my work is Menhart II. from Hradec, an important diplomat and nobleman who was an important figure in the Hussite era. I also focus on Oldřich V. of Hradec, who fought in the affairs of his father and Henry IV. from Hradec, appearing in a unity armed against George of Poděbrady. The work is supplemented by the Strakonice and Zelenohorský units, which arose during individual disputes.

The Image of Hussitism in Operas of the 19. and 20.centuries
Gemza, Tomáš ; Moree, Pieter (advisor) ; Noble, Timothy (referee)
The image of the Hussite movement as a phenomenon of the Czech nation of the Middle Ages and the present day was portrayed in the music of that time and also in the operatic works of the 19th and 20th centuries. The purpose of my work was to find a way to handle this idea of individual composers, particularly in Zdeněk Fibich's opera Blaník, in Karel Šebor's opera Nevěsta husitská and in opera written by Karel Bendl Dítě Tábora. I would like to highlight in my work how we perceive currently Hussite images captured in these two operatic works, written in thein particular time of the 19th century.

Prokop, Jan and the Others. The Younger Rabštejn Family in the Turbulences of the Hussite Century
Kozler, David ; Zilynská, Blanka (advisor) ; Novotný, Robert (referee)
The thesis deals with the significant western Bohemian noble family of the younger Rabštejns in the turbulent "Hussite Century", known also as the short 15th century (1400-1485). The primary focus of the research is the examination of the lives and careers of individual members of the family, the most prominent of which are the Chancellor Prokop († probably 1470) and the humanist Jan (1437-1473), author of the famous Dialogus. Their critically written biographies, appropriately set in the context of the political, religious and cultural history of the given period, review the factual errors of present research and answer the question of how specific nobles of the Rabštejn family managed the dramatic events of the "Hussite Century". The explication elaborated based on a classic genealogical and biographical approach is supplemented by sections on the social and economic rise of the younger Rabštejns in the 15th century, using knowledge from a modern, dynamically developing study of social mobility, royal court issues and noble representation. This, along with extensive source and literary heuristics on which the thesis is based, enables us to look at the history of the studied noble family with multiple lenses and place it in a wider context. The sources used are critically examined, and their selection...
