The aim of this thesis is the impact analysis of hosting the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Prague and Ostrava in 2015.The first part of thesis is about sport events, event marketing and event tourism. The second part of thesis is the analysis of impacts of hosting IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on tourism in Prague and Ostrava.
The impacts of hosting the Ice Hockey World Championship using the Examples of Sweden, Finland and Slovakia

The aim of this thesis is the impact analysis of hosting the Ice Hockey World Championship using the examples of Sweden, Finland and Slovakia. The first part of this thesis is about sport tourism, sport events and their economic and non-economic impacts. The second part of this thesis analyse the impacts of hosting the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in years 2011, 2012 and 2013 on the examples of Sweden, Finland and Slovakia. Having analysed and compared the impacts of the event, the thesis concludes that for Slovakia was hosting the most profitable of the comparing countries.
The significance of sport events for tourism

The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate a significance of sport events for tourism and to analyze their impacts on tourism in the region. The thesis is divided into four chapters, the first two summarize theoretical knowledge - the economic importance of tourism, the inclusion of events into the context of the tourism industry and also specifics of sport events and their general impacts on the region, in which they are held. The next two chapters are devoted to the most important sport events in the Czech Republic as well as abroad and to the evaluation of their impacts on tourism in the destination. The final chapter focuses fully on the analysis of impacts of the Biathlon World Championship 2013 in Nové Město na Moravě on tourism in the region.
Accident and Coincidence - the Influence of the Important Sport Events on the Accident Rate Immediately after Them

If the people are driving under the influence of alcohol the drive is more dangerous and the risk of the traffic accident is significantly higher than if the driver is not under the influence. One of the reasons of the traffic accidents caused by consumption of alcohol before the drive could be important sport events. This thesis which is operating with the day data from years 2007 to 2011 is researching the influence of important sport events in Czech Republic like the matches of the Czech football and hockey representation on the number of traffic accidents caused by the influence of alcohol. The thesis proved that the biggest influence on the number of traffic accidents had the football matches. Anyway, in the regress analyses on the five percent level of importance could have not been proved that important sport events have the influence on the number of the traffic accidents under the influence of alcohol.
The analysis of economic and non-economic impacts of organization of the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship in Slovakia with emphasis on tourism

In the first part of this final thesis the theory of tourism events and their impact on the host destination is discussed, with particular focus on major sport events. Impacts are divided into two categories: economic and non-economic (socio-cultural, environmental, marketing impact and impact on infrastructure). These break into sub-categories and are described in detail. The second part of the thesis uses the theoretical knowledge outlined in part one to analyse the impact of a specific major sporting event -- the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship that took place in Bratislava and Kosice in Slovakia. Emphasis is placed on analysing the effects the event had on the tourism sector in Slovakia. Having analysed both economic and non-economic impacts of the event, the thesis concludes that the overall impact of the event on the Slovak tourism sector was positive and the Slovak Republic can use this momentum in favour of further development of Slovak tourism sector.
Increase the Great Sports Events Sick Leave?

In case that watching sports yields more benefits than costs of the activity, employees are tempted to find a way to avoid work and watch sports. The thesis looks into influence of the most watched sport events on amount of sickness rate among employees in the Czech Republic using daily data from 2004 to 2010. Gender-specific regression analysis proved relevant impact of summer Olympic Games 2004 and 2008 on rising of men and women sickness rate. During these Olympic Games by more than 16 percent of men and 17 percent of women started to receive sick pay compared with other days. On the contrary, the impact on sickness rate was not proved in case of observed football championships and winter Olympic Games 2006 and 2010.
Limits of price policy of Organizing Committee of Worl Ski Championship in Liberec 2009

This work deals with the organization of World Ski Championship in Liberec 2009, which was one of the biggest sports events, which were held in the Czech Republic. Work shall discuss an election of appropriate price strategies for tickets prices of World Ski Championship, because on this issue led an extensive discussion.
