Architecture in Landscape - Winery

The project designs a small family winery near Strachotín, on the bank of Nové Mlýny. The land area is 35,9 hectares and the height difference is about 30 metres. There are a beautiful views of the Pálava Hills. One of the basic ideas was to link the vineyards with the embankment. Therefore, the proposed buildings are divided into two parts - the Wine Center ( including production, presentation and sales) and a restaurant with a pension. The buildings are based on the traditional archetypal shape - a rectangle and a gable roof. The asymmetrical roofs evoke panorama of Palava. Offset the production hall and the visitor centre allows free passage and the building does not act as a barrier.

Winery Marcinčák Novosedly

The subject of the bachelor's thesis for the academic year 2020/21 was the design of a representative and production space for winemaker Petr Marcinčák, the owner of the Marcinčák winery, whose current object does not correspond to the required representation. The newly created building is located on the outskirts of the village Novosedly, on an elevated hill Stara hora. This plot offers a unique view of the Palava wine region and the nearby wine town of Mikulov, which is dominated by the local castle. The land is situated uphill. Its terrain is sloping using the so-called terraces, where the individual terraces are spaced up to four meters in height. With the help of these height spacings, I could afford to design a partially recessed building. The representation part and the production part are located separately so that the production does not disturb possible guests of the winery. The production hall is designed in the lower part of the plot. Structurally, it is a skeletal system with a vegetation roof. The representative building is designed as a system of three blocks folded into a triangle with the height difference of the individual blocks. The space was created between the blocks and is used for communication. The first floor, also the entrance, serves as a reception for newly accommodated guests, a tasting room and accommodation. The second floor is used for catering and wine representation. The first underground floor serves as an accommodation. The whole building is designed from monolithic reinforced concrete. The main part of the tasting and catering is solved by reinforced concrete frames due to the large span. The roofs are used as terraces or vegetation roofs, with the exception of the roofing of the last above-ground floor, where it is a classic single-skin roof. The bachelor's thesis is based on an architectural study of the subject Atelier's work AG032 and a design study of the subject of the Comprehensive Project AG036. The award contained several requests from the investor. The subject of this bachelor thesis is the design of a new-build winery in the village of Novosedly. Sorted parcels with parcel numbers 5844/2, 5764/29, 5764/55 and 5764/3 on which the building project is located and is located in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Novosedly. The main access to the property is from the main road 414 and further along the asphalt road, which also serves as a cycleway. The building is situated near the property boundary, i.e. its northwest side. From the very situation emerges the basic concept of the project, which is to try to build a new domination of the village, while respecting the surroundings of the vineyards. One of the goals is to combine production, tasting and accommodation into one complex whole. The final design was influenced by the view of long-distance views from the area to the surrounding area (on Pálava) and another equally important one, by the creation of a resting place and meeting of people who go specifically for wine tasting or a selfless view of the surrounding area. The proposed building is two-storey, partially sunk in the terrain, when I took advantage of a large high jump in the terrain. On the first floor there is wine production and storage for subsequent export or preservation of wine. On the second above-ground floor there are areas for visitors, namely tasting and accommodation. A characteristic feature of the building is the saddle roof, which floats on the Old Mountain, thanks to considerable glass and lightening by means of columns. An important point of the proposal is the creation of a closed but open space (courts).

The main goal of this project is to fill the potential of the place, that is hidden behind the church wall. A proposal that will benefit not only the place itself but also the village community and visitors. A project that revives the spirit of the place but preserves its intimate atmosphere. The design itself includes a bistro, an art gallery, accommodation with sauna and a wine gallery. Between all of this is a Provence-style garden.

Strachotín is a village on the edge, not just from geological point of view, but in the sense it´s next development too. Currently it´s main problem is, that it does not offer anything specific to become interesting for turists. There are not the best wine, architecture, accomodation, catering or public services. What it does have is undoubtedly the best view of Palava massif. It is not used at all and that was the main reason that led me to think of building at the pier so this attribute could be finally used for further development of this village. For this purpose i chose the object gallery of wine which is missing here and is also welcomed by it´s citizens.

Characteristics of Moravian wines of the Pálava variety

This bachelor thesis deals with the chemical characterization of Palava wines from the Moravian region and the possibility of using chemical analysis of wines to verify the geographical origin of the Palava variety. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis describes the wine-growing areas in the Czech Republic and the origin of the Palava variety. The theoretical part discusses the chemical composition of wine and the issue of wine adulteration and methods used to check the authenticity of wines. The experimental part of the bachelor thesis is focused on elementary analyses, analyses of selected phenolic compounds, organic acids, total phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of wines. The measured data were evaluated using statistical analysis techniques. Analysis of variance, principal component analysis and discriminant analysis were used. The results of this work showed that with the help of chemical analyzes and statistical techniques it was not possible to distinguish samples of Pálava wines according to individual Moravian subregions. However, this study proved that the wines of the Pálava variety have a characteristic chemical composition and it can be distinguished on the basis of chemical analysis from other white wines from the wine-growing region of Moravia.
