Restoration of the monastery in Šternberk
Wernerová, Valerie ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the thesis was to create an architectural study of the revitalization of part of the building of the former Augustinian monastery in Šternberk, including its surroundings and garden. It was essential to find a new functional use of neglected spaces and determine the overall concept of the object's functioning. The building of the former monastery is to serve as a place for rest, cultural development and relaxation in a demanding era. It is functionally divided into two parts that intertwine. Firstly, it is a part intended primarily for the local population, for concerts, theaters, cultural days, social events... that is, for social and cultural enjoyment. The second part is aimed at people looking for a change of environment, relaxation in a pleasant space with high-quality facilities and recharging new energy. Within the monastery, pleasant accommodation has been created with spaces for rest, sports, relaxation, but also remote work. Both functions complement each other, the space of the restaurant, cafe or beer hall serve both residents and staying guests. The small wellness centre is also open to those interested from Šternberk as well as a gym, an open library or a beautifully landscaped garden that encourages relaxation for both locals and guests. A significant input into the architecture is the arrangement of the inner courtyard. Roofing of the courtyard, which is open today, is proposed. At the same time, a new staircase and an elevator are added in the courtyard. In the monastery grounds, it is possible to pass from east to west through the accessible monastery garden, in which parts of the English park intertwine with the baroque garden. In the south-western part, a underground garage is being built, hidden under green roof connected to the garden.

The main source of renewable energy is 13 PV installed on the roof. The house is heated by an air-to-water heat pump located next to the utility room. The water is heated by an internal heat pump and stored in an accumulation tank. Floor heating is solved in the house. The Object is carried out forced ventilation and air handling unit with heat recovery designed. The living area will have fan-coils installed for cooling. Rainwater will be accumulated in the storage tank and infiltration blocks, and then it will be used to irrigate the garden. Janečková, Klára ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The task of the diploma thesis was the development of an architectural study of the restoration of the former Augustinian monastery in Šternberk city and the compositional layout of the adjacent area. Since 1993, the monastery has been owned by the Šternberk municipality, which is trying to gradually revitalize it. The goal of the proposal is to carefully use the existing building and make the monastery garden accessible to the public. In response to the demands of the investor and the coexistence of the church, a primary art school, restaurant, wine bar, hotel, ceremony hall and exhibition spaces were designed in the building. The inner atrium was covered by glass roof and completed with an elevator and stairs. In connection with the proposed functional use and due to inadequate access to the premises, an underground parking lot was placed in the western part with the possibility of entry to the courtyard in front of monastery. Two new entrances were created to the garden, connecting Opavská street with Zahradní street.

Kabeláčová, Anna ; Kristek, Jan (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the use of the potential and possibilities of the Centre of Medicinal Plants at Kraví hora in Brno through the operation of an experimental scientific centre. The building is designed to expand the scope and significance of the centre within its current activities with ways of sensitive use of the garden by the public. The basis of the design is research on the effect of colours on plant growth, which also reflects their effect on humans. The function of the science centre is complemented by the operation of garden therapy on the site. Colours have become the link between scientific purpose and psychological effect on humans. A linear object along the boundary of the site responds to the problems associated with the cultivation of plants and also serves to raise public awareness of the existence of this garden.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is inclusive architecture. The aim of the thesis is the design of the dormitory and reconstruction of the Gemini High School in the Lesná housing estate in Brno, together with the reconstruction of the school's surroundings. The high school plans to increase its current capacity and aims for inclusive education, which is reflected in the new design. The current conditions are already inadequate. In the past, the school management was constrained by the available options and adopted a building with a kindergarten layout together with a garden. As a result, the school operates on a limited footprint or in cramped quarters. The aim is to provide quality education for all without distinction. An education that will be combined with a pleasant stay for the students, in the airy spaces in the school or the school garden, or in the new boarding building. The proposal includes a sustainable design approach to ensure that the investor incurs fewer costs associated with operating a building that functions as an educational institution.
