Housing estates and their author's reflection ABSTRACT The housing estate itself and its development represent a fascinating topic that encompasses a wide range of aspects from urban planning and architecture to social and cultural phenomena. The central theme of the thesis is the environment of panel housing estates and their reflection in the author's and didactic parts. In the theoretical part, the thesis addresses the idea of the emergence, realization, and development of housing estates in the area of the capital city of Prague. It focuses on the relationships of the housing estate with other elements of the city and studies them in sociological, political, and geographical contexts. It deals with the theme of the place itself, its character, and its recording. It seeks connections of the topic in art, architecture, and urbanism and interprets them into the didactic and practical parts. The didactic part is based on the findings obtained in the theoretical part and proposes their use in visual arts classes. Using mental maps, it explores the environment of housing estates from the perspective of elementary school students. It motivates them to actively explore the environment in which they live and offers various activities to support their interest and understanding of the topic. In the practical...

Mix/Match

The project is centered around architectural design of a mixed-use building primarily tailored for residential purposes, with a specific focus on student accommodation. This decision is grounded in a thorough analysis of the surrounding area. I am proposing a design that integrates tennis club already existing on the site while introducing new functional elements. These include a café/bar, study spaces, interior sport hall with a padel court and a hostel. One of the tennis courts is on the ground and one is on a roof of the building. In my proposal, I am opening the site more to the public, allowing anyone to enjoy the views and atmosphere it offers, thereby creating a place for a community.

Football Recycling

In the centre of the city, near Lužánky, there is a strange brownfield that represents an interesting mix of past and present. This place has been the target of many plans and visions, but their fate has been different. Some have come to fruition, others have remained on paper, waiting for their chance. Different people have been involved in the creation of this complex space, coming and going over time, creating a distinct entity with many faces. Here you will find a luxury hotel, abandoned sports venues from the past and tennis courts still attracting sports enthusiasts. All this is complemented by a vast car park that seems to be a kind of inhospitable oasis in the middle of the city's concrete. But behind this urban kaleidoscope lies Planýrka, a special piece of nature in the heart of the city. Only the beaten paths and untrodden greenery here testify to a life that takes place beyond the reach of human hands, a life according to its own rules.

Commercial center Miris Garden in Croatia

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the preparation of project documentation for building permits and documentation for construction implementation, based on the assignment provided in the 3rd year during the winter semester in the subject BGA 032 – Architectural Studio IV. The study focuses on the design of a new commercial center placed in the area of a newly planned holiday resort in Croatia. The addressed plot is located in the Croatian Dalmatia region, near the village of Stari Grad-Paklenica. Currently, the whole area is unused, undeveloped, and overgrown with wild vegetation. The architectural concept aims to create a building that responds to the sloping terrain of the plot and provides its future visitors with a sense and atmosphere of Croatian architecture. This is achieved through the use of stone cladding and wooden shading elements, which are typical materials for this region. The irregularly shaped building consists of two above-ground floors. The first floor is used for dining, commerce, and sports, while the second floor accommodates dining, services, administration, and entertainment. In contrast to the first floor, the second floor is more shallow, creating a walkable terrace from which individual units are accessible. The terrace also features outdoor seating for gastronomic establishments, complemented by wooden pergolas with sliding fabric shading. One of the dominant elements of the complex is the outdoor staircase connecting both floors. It is not only a guiding element but also reveals views of the sea and the setting sun. The design also emphasizes public spaces. In the front area of the commercial center on the northeast side, the space is divided into green islands with seating. These green islands, along with a water feature, complete the square in front of the commercial center facing the sea. The area also includes wooden pergolas with sliding fabric shading, resembling waves of the sea, providing a unique atmosphere.

A NEW SPACE FOR LIFE - KROMĚŘÍŽ - LUTOPECKÁ

It is located on the outskirts of Kroměříž, near the flower garden undeveloped area intended for housing in apartment buildings. The first goal is to design an area with housing in apartment buildings, including a basic one civic amenities and recreation that will be suitable and pleasant for life of future and surrounding residents or even tourists. The second goal is design of a concrete multi-functional house with housing that will be suitable function from an operational point of view, it will increase the value of the territory with its aesthetic value form and will become the beloved home of its inhabitants. The territory will be built up with rectangular point houses with a total number of 170 flats in contrast with the organic curves of the public space. Citizens will have access to a community center, small shops, and a municipal one library, pastry shop with bar, walking and cycling paths, public grill point, children's playground, workout field, ball sports field, sitting under the trees even a sunny day. The multifunctional building with civic amenities on the ground floor has a total of 40 flats and studios, each of which has its own loggia. The facade is made up of irregular placement of window and loggia openings, which is based on the imaginary orthogonal grid. The material of the facade is gray facing brickwork in contrast with window sashes.

Residential Complex on the Red Hill in Brno

As part of my bachelor's thesis, I am undertaking the design of a residential complex located on plot No. 1057 in the cadastral area of Štýřice, situated southwest of Brno's city center. The site shares its borders with Kamenná colony to the north, while the southern boundary is defined by the former LDN area, earmarked for the future development of a health and social care facility on Červený kopec. The aim of the proposal is to address the housing crisis and the current deficiencies in civic amenities in the vicinity. The proposed apartments are designed in accordance with contemporary housing trends, with an emphasis on ensuring maximum comfort for future residents. Their placement and architectural design are planned to harmonize with the surrounding landscape and respect the natural character of Červený kopec. The residential complex is be complemented by a diverse public space and services. The proposed complex includes a multifunctional center, community garden, and newly created road.

A media discussion about rebuilding the Marian collumn at the Oldtown square in Prague

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the media debate regarding the reconstruction of the Marian Column in Prague's Old Town Square, particularly focusing on its broader political implications. Utilizing methods of critical discourse analysis, primarily the so-called discursive-historical approach (Wodak 2001, Wodak and Reisigl 2009), a comprehensive qualitative analysis of selected texts from two prominent discourse coalitions - proponents of the reconstruction and their opponents - will be conducted. The thesis will concentrate on fundamental discursive strategies (Wodak et al. 2009: 31n) and will describe the dynamics of discourse and its connections to other textual domains. It will also include a detailed analysis of all texts through situational anchoring and its own semantic analysis.

HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?

The diploma thesis is based on the pre-diploma project, which deals with the vacant buildings after the railway is moved from the center of Brno to the newly proposed location of the transport hub according to the KAM study. The diploma project focuses specifically on the heritage-listed building of the Brno main railway station. The aim is to find a suitable function for this building and to integrate it into the context between the historic center and the newly built southern quarter. The proposal also solves the building's surroundings, which include the area of the vacant railway track and the station forecourt with its complex traffic situation, which has been one of the least popular public spaces in the city for many years.

The Ideal City Brno: The New Stará Osada

My master thesis deals with the urban locality Stará Osada, which is an artery of the urban district of Brno- Židenice. It is a social and transport hub for the Brno - Židenice district. Stará Osada is part of the wider city centre. This traffic junction is defined by a development of prefabricated houses, where the dominant feature of the environment is a thirteen-storey building. Stará Osada could be defined similarly to Mendel Square in Brno. Compared to Mendel Square, the space of Stará Osada is very fragmented, disorganised and people only use it as a transfer point for public transport. In connection with the construction of the New Armoury and the traffic tunnel, traffic calming on Gajdošova- Svatoplukova Streets, which currently form the city ring road, will be addressed in the future. Stará Osada has the potential to be a full-fledged centre of Židenice, which supports the development of the urban district, which the district strives for. The aim of the thesis is to design a public space in the form of a square with new buildings, supporting the development that is lacking in the urban district. The buildings, by their mass, will enclose and integrate the space of Stará Osada and will be a manifesto of a possible architectural and urbanistic solution for Stará Osada. The square and the adjacent buildings will provide the opportunity for increased social events and new housing.

Contemporary city

To limit urban sprawl into the surrounding countryside, densification of development and use of neglected areas is necessary. In this thesis, I seek to address this by finding an ideal balance between density, open spaces and a diversity of functions that support the further development of the current area. The result should be a city that is viable, resilient and adaptable, delivering a quality living environment for its residents and supporting sustainable growth. A city that works as a whole with its new neighbourhood but is not overrun by it.
