Post-traumatic and stress disorder and its biomarkers
Shalkin, Ilia ; Telenský, Petr (advisor) ; Honc, Ondřej (referee)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) originally referred to conditions observed among military people. It was first widely accepted as a diagnosis during the First World War. As a result, PTSD was no longer attributed exclusively to the military environment and, at the moment, there are a large number of studies that relate to civilians who developed trauma as a result of a terrorist attack, rape, the death of a loved one, natural and man-made disasters. Severe trauma can affect everyone, and most people manage to cope with stress and continue to live their everyday lives. However, some people may develop PTSD. A person diagnosed with PTSD may have sleep disorders and nightmares, increased irritability, feel guilty and look for the cause of problems in themselves, and may not experience positive emotions. Symptoms of PTSD have a destructive effect on the patient himself and affect loved ones, leading to a break in social ties and loss of work. PTSD is a complex disease affecting various regulatory systems of the body, but despite many studies, the aetiology of PTSD development is not clear today. This fact limits scientists in developing a treatment for PTSD. One of the ways to develop research on the treatment of PTSD uses preclinical and clinical methods to track biomarkers associated with...

Spoustová, Ivana ; Elischer, David (referee)
The dissertation thesis "Relationship of parents to minors with regard to the specifics of domestic violence" focuses in particular on judicial proceedings in cases of custody of minors where family relationships are affected by domestic violence. It attempts to explain why it is necessary for the courts to take into account this fact and to adopt such measures within their decisions to provide sufficient protection to persons at risk and at the same time to stop violent behaviour. Domestic violence as a dangerous social phenomenon is described in detail; information on its individual appearances and forms is brought; briefly mentioned are also other scientific disciplines whose knowledge is important not only for the recourse of offenders and the protection of victims but also for creation of a strategy of effective prevention. Negative impacts on mental state of minors are stressed, who must be viewed in all cases of domestic violence as its victims, i.e. also when the violent behaviour is not immediately directed against them. The thesis brings interpretation of the current legislation with reference to the most important changes in the legislation in the last decade. Last but not least, measures de lege ferenda are proposed the implementation of which could contribute to eliminating this...

Vrbová, Markéta ; Vodáčková, Daniela (advisor) ; Havránková, Olga (referee)
Markéta Vrbová Abstract The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of using psychotherapy while working with the victims of domestic violence. The aim is to introduce the perspective of this issue from the view of workers from several crisis and intervention centers in Prague. The thesis is structured into two sections; theoretical and practical. The theoretical part contains the definition of domestic violence, its consequences including post-traumatic stress disorder, working with a violent person, and last but not least the possibilities of using psychotherapy and its definition. The empirical part is based on qualitative research, which describes the steps throughout the whole survey. The analysis and interpretation of the data contain the most important extracts of the interviews. This thesis discovers not only if social workers use psychotherapeutic elements with victims, but also other significant topics that are marginally mentioned. The focus must be on these marginally mentioned issues as well to improve the quality of work with victims of domestic violence.
