The folk dance issues from physiotherapy perspective

This bachelor thesis is dealing with the problematics of folk dances. The general preview of folk dances is mostly positive, also being considered as beneficial to health, although they put a lot of load and preasure on the lower limb joints. This thesis focuses on the physiotherapeutic aspect of folk dances. The first goal of the thesis is set up to find out what are the most common problems with the musculo-skeletal system that bother folk dancers and which parts of the body they have impact or affect to. The second goal of this thesis is focused on the options of compensatory exercises in terms of being part of primary and secondary prevention. Second part of the thesis describes folk dances, targets on the health effect of folk dances on the body as well as their basic characteristics. Due to the results of research in the practical part, the theoretical part also deals with the anatomy and kinesiology of the knee-joints and on their examination. The practical part of this thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is designed in the form of quantitative research, when this (previously mentioned) was sent to approx. 130 amateur and professional folklore ensembles from all around Czech republic. The main aim of the this questionnaire was to find out which musculo-skeletal problems most often afflict folk dancers. The second part is focused on seven probands from the folklore group Rokytí from Rokycany, selected by purpose. The condition for participation was existence of problems with a part of the locomotor apparatus so as a close-fitting results of the previous questionnaire. These participants were tested on the effectiveness of the suggested compensatory exercise based on the sort of their suffered issue. According to the results of the questionnaire, it can bedeterminated that a large number of folklore dancers suffer from musculo-skeletal problems. There must be said that only few of them use compensatory exercises, and many of them do not pay any attention to the pain what so ever. It is just the fact, that compensatory exercise serves as a primary prevention against injuries of joints, ligaments and muscles and do compensation for the consequences of one-straight stress and preasure. In the future, this thesis may be used by physiotherapists dealing with problems of the musculo-skeletal system of dancers or by members of folklore ensembles themselves and to provides a prevention of damage. It can also be used by teachers at pedagogical faculties and conservatories as a educational inspiration.

Metamorfosis of vax flowers

The diploma thesis Metamorphosis of a wax flower deals with the searching for identity in the layers of folklore from the point of view of a contemporary being. For this project, a floral crown was created (a head decoration in the form of a wreath or "crown", most often made of textile or wax flowers or possibly beaded ornaments or just rosemary and ribbons) as the main artifact of the concept of a transitional ritual to adulthood. The flower crown is part of a performance adapted to a traditional wedding ceremony, when the bride's crown is removed after the ceremony and is replaced by a hat covering brides hair. This work recreates this historical ritual, which had acquired an archaic meaning, and shows a possible alternative, when the key moment of rebirth is applied to the leaving from the academic land and the entry into the business market.

Architecture in landscape - Environmental Education Center

The aim of the task was to design a building situated in South Moravia near the Nové Mlýny dam with a view of Pálava hills. The house is designed with respect to the environment as extremely efficient building. Part of the ecological concept is also water management and purification. The primary function of this object is an environmental education aimed at primary schools and its students. There are two classrooms available, both of them designed for 27 children, and a lecture hall for 66 students. There is an accommodation for 60 persons including dining room arranged in the object. Also there is room for cultural events in the area, a separate building that provides refreshment and bicycle or boat rental.

Ambivalence of Identity: Cultural Traditions As a Theme in Contemporary Czech and Slovak Art

The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of a new presence of references to traditional folk culture in contemporary Czech and Slovak art. Emphasis is placed on the period from the year 2000 to the present. The core of the work consists of chapters devoted to artists who in this period significantly thematized various aspects of traditional folk culture, either as a partial element of specific projects or in the form of continuous interest in the field. The essence of this part is to show the breadth and heterogeneity of the examined manifestations across the media spectrum. The main purpose of the work is to analyze and place the researched phenomena in a relevant context within the theory and history of art. The reason is their different nature from thematically similar manifestations in the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, when compared with current trends abroad, a number of connections are shown, such as links to environmental issues, criticism of the state of society and, above all, to new issues related to personal and collective identification. Therefore, I base the analysis of these phenomena on a hybrid interdisciplinary basis using theoretical approaches to identity in the social sciences and humanities. I do so in the introductory theoretical chapters, but the main focus is on the final analytical synthesis. To a large extent, it also builds on data obtained from interviews with artists, the transcripts of which the reader will find in the appendix. Finally, the documentation of curatorial projects and exhibitions realized as a practical part of the dissertation project is attached.

Vztah generace Z k folklóru a tradicím jako součásti nabídky destinace cestovního ruchu

The bachelor's thesis is targeted on tourism in the area of Uherske Hradiste and on the relationship of generation Z to folklore and it’s traditions. The aim of the thesis is to identify the current offer of tourism products with the theme of traditions and folklore in the Zlín region and to find out how is the relationship of generation Z towards folklore and traditions while participating in tourism. To design new or innovate existing destination products of the Zlín region for generation Z. Due to the vastness of the Zlín region and the diversity of the cultural offer in the area of traditions and folklore, the aim of the bachelor’s thesis was narrowed down in a geographical matter to a specific smaller area of Uherske Hradiste only. The current state and possibilities for the development of folklore tourism in the area of Uherske Hradiste region were analyzed using secondary and primary data. Primary data were obtained through an online questionnaire survey, with it’s main purpose being to find out whether Generation Z is interested in folklore and folk traditions.

Care of the Intangible Cultural Heritage: Case of the Ride of Kings

Care of the intangible cultural heritage is nowadays dependent on several elements. The main element is people and community in the places where the habit or tradition is still kept. But their effort must be supported by national and international authorities who invest considerable resources into their preservation. Except this also the general awareness of public that is a guarantee of passing the tradition to the next generations is very important. On the example of the Ride of Kings there is captured historical evolution of the tradition, which during the previous century undergo the change in the people's celebrations. By their formation was conditioned preservation of tradition, which began to vanish in the second half of the 20th century. Folk songs from Študlov and their use in school and extracurricular music education

The aim of the thesis is to collect and analyse folk songs from Studlov and to propose their use in school and after-school music education. Thanks to the collectors and their musical notations, it is possible to analyse individual songs and thus look for connections in the folk music of this Wallachian village. Through these sources, I have created a songbook of Studlov folk songs for the purposes of music education and the preservation of traditions. In order to be able to extract as much information as possible from the multitude of songs for their analysis, I have divided them into several groups according to their content. The categorization helped to further research and clarified the weight of folk song in certain areas of the lives of the original tradition bearers. Finally, I have adapted a few selected songs, especially for the purpose of after-school music education. The aim of the arrangements is to engage listeners who do not prefer folk music with this genre. Another product of this research is a methodological material in which I have processed Wallachian customs in such a way that they can be used in music education lessons at primary school. Folklore traditions of the Prácheň region and their use in music education

This thesis is focused on the folklore of the Prácheň region and what are the possibilities of its use in music lessons, primarily in the first grade of elementary school. The theoretical part focuses on a detailed description of individual elements of Prácheň folklore. For the most part, it is devoted to musical folklore, specifically folk music, bagpipe tradition, dances or folklore traditions such as the konopická tradition, which is gradually falling into oblivion. In addition to musical folklore, it describes traditional dishes or costumes. The practical part is divided into two sections. The first section is devoted to questionnaires. One for pupils from the region of Prácheň, which aims to find out the level of knowledge of Prácheň folklore and the degree of motivation to learn about it further, and the other for teachers, who aims to find out whether and to what extent they pay attention to Prácheň folklore in their classes. The second section of the practical part contains preparations for music education, each of which is dedicated to a topic related to Prácheň folklore. The themes are bagpipes, konopická and Švanda the piper, while many other folklore traditions of the area appear in them.
