THE AUDIO COMPONENT IN TEACHING CZECH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

(in English): This thesis deals with the issues of teaching listening in Czech as a foreign language. It is based on studying theoretic sources, structured observing and the comparison of didactic materials, on questionnaires and informal interviews. In its theoretical part, it brings a brief overview of present knowledge in this field, using predominantly foreign sources that deal with teaching English as a foreign language. The second part enables the comparison of various didactic materials from the points of view acquired in the previous chapter, and it also provides an overview of the typology of listening tasks, including their evaluation. The last chapter designs some new sample materials based on what has been found out about their imperfections in this field so far, and it also mentions some suitable resources for designing the new listening tasks. The merit of this thesis on the theoretical level consists of making the main results of contemporary Anglo-American science accessible for the Czech auditory, on the practical level it lies in presenting an overall list of listening tasks and showing (in the Czech materials) some so far unknown possibilities of teaching the listening comprehension, these alternatives being accompanied with practical examples.
Effects of the Teaching Czech as a Second Language

Name of the thesis is "Effects of the Teaching Czech as a Second Language" and in its first part presents theoretical introduction to the field of study, empirical researches of student's productive skills (Czech as a foreign language) follow (speaking, writing). First part is focused on theoretical knowledges of second language acquisition, options and approaches to exploration of language's errors and approach and viewing of errors and mistakes in general, especially in foreign researches and literature. Bigger attention is paid to selected analyzes, those are basic instruments for making of practical part of the thesis. It is especially error analysis (EA) and analysis of fluency and accuracy. Because the thesis's topic is concerned to effects of teaching and affecting factors, there are defined terms of pedagogy and psychology in theoretical part. In practical part there is presented empirical execution of mentioned analyzes, its comparison, evaluation and making conclusions in relation to appointed variables, or rather determinants, which enter the education process. Life and Institutions in Czech Textbooks for Foreigners in Terms of Development of Intercultural Competence

Life and Institutions are some of the key factors of any culture. When it comes to successful communication with other cultures, Intercultural competence is crucial. The study of Life and Institutions should therefore by a mandatory part of teaching Czech as a foreign language. Based on extensive analysis, the thesis examines how Czech Life and Institutions are portrayed in select textbooks for foreigners reaching level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The outcome of the thesis is not only a detailed charting of Life and Institutions found in textbooks of Czech language for foreigners, but also a set of major findings based on the initially proposed questions. The analysis of textbooks is based on theoretical findings, which are introduced in the first part of the thesis and which form the necessary framework for the research part of the thesis. Intertextuality in Advertising

This bachelor thesis examines the intertextuality in advertising. The theoretical part first of all defines the basic concepts, such as advertising, intertextuality and its types or transtextuality, and in addition includes selected approaches to intertextuality in advertising and their subsequent comparison. The practical part contains a design of an information system for working with a corpus and the introduction of the corpus itself, accompanied by comments and evaluation. The final section consists of an analysis of the corpus, which leads to the formulation of conclusions about how the source texts are modified and adapted. This thesis aims to: 1) find out how frequent is the advertisement based on the principle of intertextuality, 2) ascertain what means of intertextuality are the most utilized in advertising texts, 3) determine what type of source text is the most frequently referred, 4) design an appropriate information system to store, search easily and comment on the collected material.
Political Advertising in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis focuses on political advertising in the Czech Republic. Based on the collected material its aim is to analyse and to depict language means of persuasion, which are used in advertising campaigns of different political parties. The topic of political advertising is being approached from the point of political discourse as well as the discourse of advertising.
Czech Language in the L-Pack

( Abstract(( This diploma thesis pursues an analysis of a language component in a didactical material called L-pack which is dedicated to A2 level migrants according to Common European Framework of Reference. This document projects an inner differentiation of the Czech language as well as communication needs of a focus group. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the importance of a situation in communication for didactical purposes considering the factual usage. In three chapters is focussed on pragmatic aspects of language behavior, to the choice of language and stylistic tools according to a character of a situation and monitors different approaches to communication situations to achieve optimal development of student' s communication competence. The methodological part presents the target and the work order and describes the didactical materials that have been analyzed. The analytical part of this thesis follows implementation manners of the L-pack in several dimensions. Visual components of textbooks of Czech for foreigners - analysis and evaluation

This thesis is devoted to the visual components of textbooks of Czech for foreigners. The five selected textbooks are investigated incidence of certain types of visual components, their position in the textbooks and the frequency of occurrence of these types. The aim of this work is to determine what specific visual aids in textbooks Czech for foreigners appear and whether they are used functionally or not, and give an idea of the form of the visual component of textbooks Czech for foreigners. The questionnaire, which was attended by teachers of Czech as a foreign language, should contribute to this outline. Their task was to evaluate the visual amenities of textbooks Czech for foreigners who are most frequently used in teaching. The first chapter is devoted to the textbook as a didactic resource function including textbooks in foreign language teaching and research textbooks at home and abroad. Attention is focused on the design concept of visual means to learning from visual material and finally the creation of categorical systems under which they were selected textbooks analyzed. Visualization in teaching Czech for foreigners

Abscract The topic of the master thesis is focused on the visualization of the Czech language curriculum as a foreign language. It summarizes the findings of the importance of images in the teaching process and the principles of its use. Individual chapters are devoted to didactic functions of the image, the relationship between image and text and the use of image specifics in foreign language teaching. Furthermore, presents graphical and pictorial means by which are teaching materials visualized. The work also focuses on visual media and their use in the classroom. Theoretical knowledge is applied in the practical part, which deals with research of the visual part of Czech textbooks for foreigners. Research part examines the didactic functions of the image, use of visual aids and presentation of vocabulary, grammar and cultural studies. The thesis also partially covers the issue of signaling grammar and didactic use of film clips. The thesis main focus is on practical advices and examples of how to integrate visualization elements into foreign language teaching and is intended for experts and for foreign language teachers.
Characteristics of the Czech language of Russian students(with a focus on selected phonetic and morphosyntactic phenomena)

Language adaptation of foreigners is always accompanied by a number of problems connected to the acquisition and the use of the language which becomes the primary communicative tool in the new environment. Ignoring and underestimating these problems typical of a particular language community can result in a failure to master the target language and consequently in the unsuccessful integration in the new society. This thesis is aimed at specific problems in the area of morphosyntax and phonetics, characteristic of Russian-speaking students of Czech. At the same time, it warns about the danger of overestimating positive transfer from Russian and emphasizes the necessity of using special didactic approach in teaching this group of foreign-language speakers. The analysis of the chosen language phenomena is based on the data from the Database of the voice recordings of spoken Czech by native speakers of Russian and the Database of language mistakes in Czech made by speakers whose native language is another Slavic language, which were created, among others, for the purpose of this thesis. Czech for Foreigners in the Preschool Education Institutions

v anglickém jazyce The present M.A. thesis deals with teaching the Czech for foreigners in the preschool education institution. The work with the preschool children is connected with lots of specifics and thus it requires teacherʼs special attitude towards their very young learners. Children- foreigners often come from families, where nobody speaks Czech and their vocabulary is very restricted. Therefore, their inclusion into the Czech educational environment is not easy. In the theoretical part, at first we will focus on analysis of curriculum documents for preschool education, particularly with regard to children-foreigners. Afterwards, we will pay oneʼs attention to possibilities of support of integration of children-foreigners during education in Czech preschool institutions. After that, we will outline the aspects accompanying foreigners' integration into teaching and theoretical ways for child-foreigners integration process. At the end of the theoretical part, we characterize group and individual courses. Two case studies are subject of the empirical part and they contain the complex analysis of situation of children-foreigners in selected preschool institutions.
