Diagnostics of Time Perspective in Grammar School Students
Škvařil, Václav ; High, Radka (advisor) ; Pavelková, Isabella (referee)
This Bachelor thesis focuses on time perspective in grammar school students and the possibilities of its diagnostics. The text is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The emphasis is given on the practical part. The theoretical part describes basic psychological findings about a time factor with the emphasis on its regulatory function. Different theories and approaches, that occured throughout history, are presented. The greatest attention is given to the Nuttin's personality- motivational concept of time perspective, Pavelková's theory of the perspective orientation, Zimbardo's time perspective theory and description of the diagnostic methods. The empirical part presents the research that was realized in the period from May to June 2015 in grammar school students of three classes in Prague. The major objective of this study was to map the time perspective of these students and to compare the diagnostic methods. As a main instrument was used the Motivational Induction Method, which finds out information about objects of time perspective and their position in time. To collect data we also used Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI), The Perspective Orientation Questionnaire and The Inventory of Motivational Categories. The Inventory of Motivational Categories was applied in order...
Interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experience of trafficked people
Bittnerová, Soňa ; Pavlas Martanová, Veronika (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
This thesis focuses on the topic of human trafficking and exploitation from the perspective of the trafficked persons themselves. Using the interpretative phenomenological analysis seeks to determine the lived experience of these people. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 4 respondents who are clients of the organization La Strada ČR. These interviews were recorded and they were subsequently analyzed according to IPA. Trafficking and exploitation had a significant impact on the lives and experiences of these people. Interpersonal relationships are affected the most, especially the ability to establish contacts with strangers. Also relationships with families are disturbed because of fear of rejection and misunderstanding of what you went through. People live in fear for their safety and future. Interpersonal relationships are on the other side one of the elements helping to manage the traumatic event and their absence deepens negative experiences. KEY WORDS Trafficking in human beings and exploitation, interpretative phenomenological analysis, experience of trafficked people, psychological trauma

Pražáková, Kateřina ; Mudrák, Jiří (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
At present, there is a growing interest in the theme of giftedness and gifted students. However, newer and less familiar theme is the theme of gifted children and students with disabilities called "double exceptionality". The theoretical part focuses on describing the theme of giftedness, some theories and models of giftedness, highly specific field and problems of gifted children and students with learning disabilities, eventually with other handicaps too. In the empirical part of this thesis the aim is to present specific expressions, the link with development and influences of educational approach to children and students through casuistries. This data should be a practical replenishment of mapped psychological problems of gifted children and students with handicap that the theoretical part of the thesis deal with.
Engagement by task in mathematics
Neudörflová, Blanka ; Pavelková, Isabella (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The concept of engagement can be commonly found in educational literature - mostly in its negative form (pupils are not engaged). Therefore, we focused on the examination of pupils'engagement in mathematics. Using the questionnaire survey in two classes (9th grade) of primary school, we were mapping long-term motivational charakteristics of pupils and their situational motivation before and after perfoming mathematical task. What we were interested in was which motivational variables are related to pupils'engagement by task and whether their engagement has changed before and after performing the task. We tested the links among the engagement by task and cognitive motivation, achievement motivation, flow experience, taste to perform the task, activity in the task and the importance and popularity of mathematics. Our results suggest, that the pupils' engagement does not change during the task. Major part of our hypothesis related to the links among engagement and selected motivational variables was not proved. Research has only revealed the links among the engagement, the taste to perform the task, positive school achievement motivation and the importance of mathematics. Our results do not show that the engagement in mathematics has links to the indicators of quality of work (pupils, who were engaged...
Flow experience and engagement by task in German lessons
Vaníčková, Monika ; Pavelková, Isabella (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
Theoretical part of this theses discussed different types of motivation to learn, the extended cognitive model of motivation, attitudes towards school subjects, issues regarding interest and grades, flow theory and the conceptual model of student engagement and optimal learning environments. In the empirical part was presented a pilot study focused on flow experience and engagement by task in German lessons. This study was realized in one class of a grammar school (n = 28). Questionnaire methods were used and acquired data were of both quantitative and qualitative nature. The aim of the pilot study was (1) to map motivational variables related to engagement and flow in the task situatuon in German lessons and (2) to discover, which contextual characteristics can facilitate student engagement from their point of view. In this study has been investigated the connection between engagement before a task and after it, between engagement and flow in the task and their connection to attitudes towards German lessons, achievement motivation, grades and success in the task, emotions and concentracion. It was discovered a more stable nature of flow and engagement in two consecutive tasks of the same type, but with increasing difficulty. In the pilot study were suggested connections of flow and engagement with...
