Grammar school's libraries and their activites for reading development and information literacy education

The diploma thesis deals with grammar school libraries and their activities for reading literacy and information literacy development in the Czech Republic and Sweden. The first part of the thesis defines theoretical methods for reading and information literacy development, current level of reading and information literacy in the Czech Republic and Sweden. Part of the thesis describes school system and legislation of school libraries of both countries. Practical part of the thesis is composed of analysis of websites of the libraries and comparison of one Czech and one Swedish school library.
Information literacy standards for elementary education

The aim of the thesis is to gather data for the creation of information literacy standards for graduates of 9th grade of elementary school in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part contains the definition of information literacy, organizations in the field of information literacy, documents in the information society, as well as existing standards of information literacy in the Czech Republic and abroad. Finally, research activities in the field of information literacy in the Czech Republic are described. In the practical part, the analysis of the current situation in the information literacy development in the UK and Sweden is introduced. The analysis of the currricula of selected elementary and grammar schoools in Benešov distrikt is described as well. The main contribution of this thesis is the analysis of the selected schools and a proposal of the information literacy standards. Interactive technologies for museums: analysis and possibilities of implementation with focus on enhancement visitors' motivation and engagement

This work focuses on interactive technology for museums and its influence on visitor experience. The theoretical part is aimed at museum context, museum education, and visitor behaviour. The concept of interactivity is defined and the importance of interactive technology for museums is analysed. Technologies and their implementations are described. In the chapter on interactive exhibits design, the process of planning, design principles and possible pitfalls are outlined. The purpose of the practical part is to evaluate and compare selected interactive installations. The M-Dimensions framework is used for this task

Geospatial Revolution: Location Based Services as a Medium for New Forms of Civic Activism

The diploma thesis is focused on Location Based Services technology and its use in the field of citizen activism. The aim of thesis is to define field of citizen activism and its old and new form, moreover to describe how LBS work. In the practical part is presented multi-case study which analyses 5 examples of use LBS as a medium for new forms of civic activism (project Let's Do It 2008, project Uchaguzi, project ESRI Australian Flood Map, application Appapa and Occupy Wall Street movement). Thesis also contained conceptual draft of application, which uses LBS for fulfilment of activist goals. The possible ways of progress of LBS are described in the last part.
Social aspects of social network gaming

The thesis entitled "Social aspects of gaming on social networks" focuses on the currently much discussed topic of contemporary digital era. The introductory section presents definitions of related terms, explains the vagueness of the concept of the game on the social networks and presents several possible partitions of these games. Finally, it mentions the development of the phenomenon, whose existence is evident only in the 21st century. The middle part reflects the perception of games on social networks in the perspective of current research in the world and displays a range of gaming using the current statistics. The empirical part of the thesis includes the performance of methodology, which was laid down, by studying the available literature, to achieve the set objectives of this work. These goals are firstly, to establish player's features and find his gaming (on social network) style and, secondly, to investigate the influence of motivation on the player's gaming activity. Research is conducted on a sample of Czech population using questionnaires. The diploma thesis deals with the method of using computer simulations in education, with a focus on medicine. It also presents possible usage of computer simulations in other fields. The thesis presents possible usage of computer simulation to support the education, analyses of effective approaches and possible barriers that may arise during the implementation. The thesis on the theme "Reading literacy of primary school children: educational programmes influence" is focused on reading literacy, its development and influence of the educational programmes. First chapter is devoted to theoretical analysis of reading literacy. Next chapter discusses about resources and options of reading literacy development and also about the role of parents, libraries and schools in this process. Third chapter deals with the topic of alternative education and methods of teaching reading. Fourth chapter describes the research of the educational programmes influence on reading literacy. Final chapter is focused on cooperation of library and schools in the town of Kladno, analyzes the shortcomings and brings in the possibilities of development.
Analysis and concept of partial modification of simulation mechanics and graphical user interface of the educational simulation Europe 2045

The presented work is concerned with systematic analysis of the user interface of computer simulation and serious game Europe 2045. The author then puts forward modifications of the current user interface, which aim to enhance the user experience, and allow for further utilization of the computer simulation. Europe 2045 is approached as an information system, and proposed modifications of its user interface are based on evaluation, which was provided by users of Europe 2045 during the years 2008 - 2012.

Tato práce se zabývá konceptem imerze ve videohrách a analyzuje možné implikace, které mohou videohry mít pro kinematografii. Imerze je zkoumána jakožto kvantifikovatelná zkušenost prostřednictvím hry ?Heavy Rain? (2010 PS3 titul). Tato práce taky prozkoumává negativní aspekty imerze a současné argumenty pro a proti prosazování prostorových a kinestetických imerzních technologií. Nakonec se práce věnuje vývoji těchto dvou médií a pokouší se predikovat budoucí podobu vyprávění příběhu.
