Paratexts, their shape and significance
NOVÁK, Jakub
The bachelor thesis is primarily focused on the aspect of paratexts in literature and book market, deals with its characterization, division and their possible realization in practice. It presents exapmles mainly from the Czech literature, on which it demonstrates the specific form and functions of the paratexts. It refers to variety of approaches to the creation of secondary book and non-book texts, their tranformations depending on the dates of publication, their importance for literary communication, the interpretative character of the paratexts and their influence on individual works.
Media and digital technologies in primary school education
Novák, Jakub ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Lucký, Jakub (referee)
The end of the twentieth century is the beginning of significant development in the area of digital technologies. Modern technologies make our everyday life easier, they enable us to work more effectively, and they are a source of fun for all the age groups. Modern technologies have a great impact on us and our environment and thus they deserve our attention. Children, who are in everyday contact with modern technologies since the day they were born, are an especially sensitive group exposed to modern technologies. Thus this thesis aims to investigate whether Czech primary schools are aware of these digital changes in society and whether they react to these. In the theoretical part, an overview of the digital world (media, cyberspace, virtual reality) and the state of equipment at schools is being mapped. The research then focuses on using technologies in everyday life at schools. It concentrates on computer literacy of teachers at public elementary schools in Prague 7, their attitude to digital technologies, and their readiness to adapt to the fast pace of technological innovations.
Influence of core stabilization influence on young floorball players
Novák, Jakub ; Geržová, Eliška (advisor) ; Kobesová, Alena (referee)
The bachelor thesis evaluate the immediate effect of core stabilization on a speed and accuracy of the young players floorball shoot. In the theoretical part is described the floorball play and its movement characteristic. The main attention is focused primarily on the shooting problematic. Further, the bachelor thesis brings the preview of an inadequate load while children are sporting and the possible negative impact on them, when the sport is unilateral. In form of research are summarized the results of studies relating to the musculoskeletal disorders of sporting children. In the second half of theoretical part the possibilities of treatment are described and how to prevent these problems by using core stabilization. It is also point out on a possibility of an improvement when using core exercise. The work primarily concerns the core stabilization from the perspective of Dynamic Neuromuscular stabilization. Methodology: The research involved 30 floorball players from the age of 13 to 15 years (average age: 14.20 years; SD +/- 0.86), which were randomized into 3 groups of 10 probands. According to the physical characteristics of floorball were chose the exercises in compliance with Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), which the first group practiced individually for 20 minutes. The second...
Changes in the intensity of road transportation in CZ - 1995-2010
Ulrich, Lukáš ; Novák, Jakub (advisor) ; Marada, Miroslav (referee)
Changes in the intensity of road transportation in CZ - 1995-2010 Abstract This diploma thesis focuses on the development of intensity load of road network between 1995 and 2010. Theoretical part is devoted to general definition of transport and transport systems. The next part is the theoretical concept of research that is focused on the spatial interaction and road transport in terms of spatial structure. The conclusion of theoretical part is devoted to characteristics of the road network and transport resources of Czech Republic. The empirical part of the thesis is describing the methodology of data processing at first. The following is an initially analysis of the evolution of traffic intensity on the motorway and road network in Czechia. Then they are analyzed regional differences in the intensity of road traffic and their evolution over time. Finally, here are three studies. The first is focused on the road transport at inputs to districts with the regional centres. The second is focused on the development of transport in the border region and compared with the hinterland. The latest study is focused on symptoms of suburbanization in the development of traffic intensity. Keywords: intensity of transportation, regional differentiation, Czech Republic
Judgment and Action. On the Concept of Judging in Arendt and Gadamer
Novák, Jakub ; Čapek, Jakub (advisor) ; Ritter, Martin (referee) ; Holub, Štěpán (referee)
The dissertation focuses on the theme of practical judgment (i.e. judgment related to human action) in Hannah Arendt and Hans-Georg Gadamer. Despite substantial differences in philosophical approaches, perspectives and motivation, I show that there are important areas of overlapping. I approach the problem of judgment in a systematic way, being fully aware that especially Hannah Arendt does not treat judgment systematically; what is more, a book she meant to dedicate to the problem of judging remained unwritten. The dissertation is divided into three parts. I start with the relation between judgment and rules. The second theme is judgments' validity, especially the specific kind of validity of political and moral judgments, while the third part concentrates on how judgment is related to other people and the world. I also try to evaluate the way Arendt interprets Kant's theory of aesthetic judgment as well as Gadamer's criticism of Kant. In the third part I investigate not so well known areas of Gadamer's and Arendt's philosophy such as their notion of solidarity and the way how they grasp the relation between judgment and responsibility (or responsibility of judgment, both towards one's own self and towards the world).
Possibilities of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Commercial Suburbanization Process on the Example of Prague Suburban Zone
Koloušek, Petr ; Novák, Jakub (advisor) ; Němec, Michal (referee)
Possibilities of monitoring and evaluation of the commercial suburbanization process on the example of Prague suburban zone Abstract With a transition to the market economy, we can observe an entirely new phenomenon in the hinterland of Czech cities, which has significantly contributed to the transformation of the selected settlements. It is the commercial suburbanization process, which is characterized by a decentralization of the economic activities from the metropolitan cores. Selectivity of the commercial suburbanization process has resulted in its differential manifestation and consequences, which are not often beneficial for a suburban area. Despite the great influence of the process on landscape and population, there is a limited amount of literature dedicated to it, which is partly due to lack of appropriate data sources for its monitoring. The work aims to evaluate possibilities of the study of the process and to create a consistent and repeatable study method using available data sources. With this method a pilot study will be performed on the case of selected locality. Through this study, the suitability of the established method will be verified, but the results will be self-supporting and tell us about evolution, scope, form and the consequences of the process in the selected localities....
Spatial externalities in transport: Prague case study
Tomášek, Radek ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Novák, Jakub (referee)
Spatial externalities in transport: Prague case study Summary: This diploma thesis deals with spatial externalities in transport, namely occupation of land in the centre of Prague. It is divided into eleven chapters, which are further divided into individual subchapters. Literature review, in which the theoretical part of this work is contained, deals with the issue of externalities in transport and real estate evaluation and is listed in chapter four to seven. Practical part of thesis, which is primarily focused on quantifying and evaluating of occupation of land is contained in chapter eight. In its introduction there is also mentioned the methodology of work, including the data and programs used. Following part is a brief description of the monitored area. Based on the results of quantification and evaluation of occupation of land by the transport infrastructure there is subsequently elaborated discussion of possible use of the acquired knowledge. Ninth chapter is the conclusion in which the objectives of this work are repeated and thanks to their fulfilment also answers to the research questions that the author put in the introduction. Key words: externalities, sustainable transport, occupation of land, land evaluation, paid parking zones

In the empirical part is solved the traffic situation on congested roads that substitute this unfinished section and the resulting consequences in terms of emission. Key words: traffic, highway, Ústí nad Labem
Analýza regulace komplexů cytoplazmatických poly(A) polymeráz
Novák, Jakub ; Staněk, David (advisor) ; Hrossová, Dominika (referee)
The regulation of gene expression is achieved at many levels. Chromatin-based gene regulation has been the central focus of many decades of research; however, posttranscriptional control mechanisms are emerging as a fundamental complement to direct protein synthesis. This thesis is focused on a specific mechanism of posttranscriptional control - the translational regulation of mRNAs in the cell cytoplasm. This control is a consequence of the balance between translational repression and activation and hinges on the selective recognition of regulated mRNAs by RNA-binding proteins and their ability to recruit RNA modifying proteins. In this thesis, Caenorhabditis elegans germline was used to study translational control of the germ cell-enriched gene, gld-2. Mutants of known RNA-binding proteins of the PUF and CPB protein families were analyzed by performing Western blots, using anti-GLD-2 antibodies. Yeast 3-Hybrid system was used to identify the cis-regulatory sites in the gld-2 mRNA conferring translational regulation by members of PUF and CPB protein families. Potential autoregulatory loop of gld-2 gene expression was also investigated. This thesis shows that FBF proteins positively regulate expression of gld-2 and bind to a conserved sequence in the 3'UTR of its mRNA. Mutations of gld-2 negatively affect...
Spatio-temporal aspects of emerging "edge cities" in Prague metropolitan region
Beneš, Jan ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (advisor) ; Novák, Jakub (referee)
The phenomenon edge city has its roots in U.S. metropolitan areas. Similar urban formations currently also appear in other developed cities. Transformations in post-socialist cities starting in early 90th caused the emergence of new socio-spatial formations in suburban area of Prague metropolitan area. The case study of commercial zone Čestlice-Průhonice shows the newly created cluster of advanced services in Prague suburban area resulting in high concentration of daily population and vehicles. The main aim of this study is to uncover the time dimension of outer-spatial relations of the commercial zone by analyzing the daily rhythm of transportation. The method of direct observation of passing vehicles and its registration numbers is used. Furthermore, it has been proved that the commercial area has a regional significance. In this thesis, new socio-spacial formations in suburban fringe of Prague are ilustrated as an important subject for further geographic research. Keywords: edge city, commercial suburbanization, daily rhythm, transportation
