The Impact of EU Sanctions on Russian Involvement on Eastern Ukraine (2014 - 2016)
Husák, Matěj ; Kofroň, Jan (advisor) ; Kuľková, Miroslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the influence of EU sanctions on the behavior of the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine. The use of sanctions as a tool of foreign policy, or a means of achieving the objectives of this policy, is the lively discussion of many authors. In this thesis, we try to analyze the effectiveness of EU sanctions by using the method of testing the rival theoretical arguments of advocates and opponents of the effectiveness of sanctions. Unlike many other studies related to the effectiveness of EU sanctions, we are dealing with foreign policy implications, not the economic impact of sanctions. In the theoretical part of this paper, we present in particular the used typology of sanctions, in which we analyze in more detail the historical effectiveness of the sanctions. In the empirical part, we mainly analyze the development of the conflict in the East of Ukraine, which we divide into individual stages in order to better analyze the effectiveness of individual phases of EU sanctions. At the end of our analysis, we find out that the impact of EU economic sanctions on Russian engagement in eastern Ukraine is entirely minimal. Russia continues to behave like an aggressor who does not respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Therefore, the theory of the ineffectiveness...

Husák, Martin ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Vaněk, Miroslav (referee) ; Stehlík, Michal (referee)
The thesis "Controlling and managing a music production in the period of normalization on the example of rock music and its media portrayal" describes and analyses the system of controlling and managing Czechoslovak music production in the period of normalization with a particular attention to the mechanisms that deployed socialist ideological and aesthetical standards in the area of rock music. Additionally, this included a prescriptive media coverage highlighting socialist values using coordinated and centralised management through state institutions. The goal of the thesis is then to reveal a modus operandi of communist cultural policy on the examples of media approach to the trials with leading underground music protagonists in 1976 as rock music was a vehicle for expression their dissent attitude toward the system in an artistic way.
The selected music periodicals (beginning, development and present)
Kábelová, Romana ; Köppl, Daniel (advisor) ; Husák, Martin (referee)
Bachelor thesis called the selected music periodicals examines the three titles of music magazines that have a tradition in our country for more than twenty years. First, historically the oldest magazine are Musical (Hudební rozhledy). Another title, Rock and Pop, began to appear only in the early 90s and is involved in rock and pop music. The last is a monthly journal of Harmony, which is largely focused on classical and jazz music and world music and dance. All titles mentioned have a firm place in the market of music magazines and their readers are focused on the content of individual titles. In addition to the content focus of the individual journals they differ from each other mainly economic support from their publishers.
Media image of the rock music in the Czechoslovak print media in the period of normalisation
Husák, Martin ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Cebe, Jan (referee)
The rigorosum thesis "Media image of the rock music in Czechoslovak print media in the period of normalisation" outlines the basic characteristics and features of the media's coverage of rock music from 1969 to 1989, relating to factors which shaped common music journalism standards both for official publications as well as the unofficial area of 'samizdat' magazine production. The aim of this research focuses on the role of rock music in Czechoslovak sociological and cultural development as well as on the censorship systems that undermined the qualitative values and principles of music journalism as a whole. On one hand, information for this thesis has been gained through oral historical accounts, on the other hand other methodical elements have been utilised to fulfill the defined goals in a more comprehensive way, i.e. by analysing descriptive and comparative perspectives, using samples from relevant periodicals. At the conclusion, the findings are supported by an analysis and interpretation of selected cultural and music events. They are divided according to the type and extent of media coverage received by official and samizdat periodicals.
Perception of Landscape Heritage and its Protection - Case Study of the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area
Husák, Miloslav ; Kučera, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Chromý, Pavel (referee)
Protected Landscape Area is an area in which values are represented by the harmonious interconnection works of man and nature in one unit. Conservation and development primarily of these values is the mission of specially protected areas, which facilitates their administration. The territory of interest for this work is protected area Kokořínsko. The work evaluates on the example of Kokořínsko how different groups of participants, which are related with the territory, perceive the value of different landscape. The first group is designated as protected area administration, the second group are local residents representing permanently living participants in the area and the third groups are the occasional residents - cottagers. Last fourth group are then selected mayors of municipalities of the area. The selection of these groups corresponds to certain assumptions regarding the (potential) different perspective on the landscape and its development. The opinions of participants are manifested in perceptions of reflection in the management and reflected in everyday life. It has been investigated not only the view of individual participants who live in the landscape of the area, but also on its recent development. Keywords: cultural landscape, landscape heritage, landscape protection, landscape character, Kokořínsko
Czech music journalism focused on rock music during the period of normalization
Husák, Martin ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Vedral, Jan (referee)
The thesis "Czech music journalism focused on rock music during the period of normalization" reflects the position and importance of Czech rock music journalism within the structure and development of normalization of the media system. It is brought back through the oral historical research based on authentic evidence of their protagonists. It defines the initial prerequisites (ideological, political and socio-cultural) which are important to understand the circumstances under which rock music could be created and developed into an institution. It all depended on the confrontational attitude of communist power towards rock music generally. The next methodic element how to fulfill the defined goals is descriptive and comparative perspective. On this basis there is confronted official and samizdat's area of magazine production on the example of chosen periodicals. There also belong other qualitative aspects of music journalism (personalization, professionalization and every day editorial job). At the end the accepted conclusions are supported by the analysis and interpretation of chosen cultural and music events. They are divided by the method of their media coverage from official and samizdat periodicals.
Gas Microsensors Based on Self-Organized 3D Metal-Oxide Nanofilms
Pytlíček, Zdeněk ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Kolařík, Vladimír (referee) ; Prášek, Jan (advisor)
This dissertation concerns the development, fabrication and integration in a gas sensing microdevice of a novel 3-dimensional (3D) nanostructured metal-oxide semiconducting film that effectively merges the benefits of inorganic nanomaterials with the simplicity offered by non-lithographic electrochemistry-based preparation techniques. The film is synthesized via the porous-anodic-alumina-assisted anodizing of an Al/Nb metal bilayer sputter-deposited on a SiO2/Si substrate and is basically composed of a 200 nm thick NbO2 layer holding an array of upright-standing spatially separated Nb2O5 nanocolumns, being 50 nm wide, up to 900 nm long and of 8109 cm2 population density. The nanocolumns work as semiconducting nano-channels, whose resistivity is greatly impacted by the surface and interface reactions. Either Pt or Au patterned electrodes are prepared on the top of the nanocolumn array using an innovative sensor design realized by means of microfabrication technology or via a direct original point electrodeposition technique, followed by selective dissolution of the alumina overlayer. For gas-sensing tests the film is mounted on a standard TO-8 package using the wire-bonding technique. Electrical characterization of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm reveals asymmetric electron transport properties due to a Schottky barrier that forms at the Au/Nb2O5 or Pt/Nb2O5 interface. Effects of the active film morphology, structure and composition on the electrical and gas-sensing performance focusing on sensitivity, selectivity, detection limits and response/recovery rates are explored in experimental detection of hydrogen gas and ammonia. The fast and intensive response to H2 confirms the potential of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm as highly appropriate active layer for sensing application. A computer-aided microfluidics simulation of gas diffusion in the 3D nanofilm predicts a possibility to substantially improve the gas-sensing performance through the formation of a perforated top electrode, optimizing the film morphology, altering the crystal structure and by introducing certain innovations in the electrode design. Preliminary experiments show that a 3D nanofilm synthesized from an alternative Al/W metal bilayer is another promising candidate for advanced sensor applications. The techniques and materials employed in this work are advantageous for developing technically simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions for practical micro- and nanodevices, where the well-defined nano-channels for charge carriers and surface reactions may bring unprecedented benefits.
