Happinesss in Romantic Relationships

This thesis pursues the topic of satisfaction in romantic relationships. The previous research was focused mainly on unhappy relationships, marital crises and divorce. This thesis follows the other direction. Its aim is to describe variables which make longterm romantic relationships satisfying. In the theoretical part is an overview of literature and researches that adressed this topic. In the empirical part of this thesis is qualitative research that tries to enlighten the specifics of happy couples in Czech Republic. The grounded theory was used to analyze interviews with 22 respondents. The results are 10 categories representing various areas that contributed to satisfaction in respondents' relationships: harmony, safety, good choice of spouse, stable financial situation, family, overcoming of differences and obstacles, doing things together, communication, endurance and trying not to solve everything.

Coping strategies and mental hygiene in the context of the burnout syndrome of accompanying staff

This thesis is based on the diploma thesis (Šípová, 2015), and the issues covered in the thesis further develop the issues of the diploma thesis. It covers different psychological stress coping strategies, mental hygiene in the context of the burnout syndrome that can be observed at staff working in organizations that support and accompany foster care families. In the first part the thesis analyzes the problem of guidance in the context of the helping professions, the requirements issued on the staff accompanying foster care families, as well as the specifics and risks associated with this profession and its clientele, the foster families. Furthermore it covers the issues of occupational stress, stress and burnout syndrome, coping strategies and mental hygiene all related to the profession of staff accompanying foster families. The second part of the thesis is elaborated in the form of empirical research investigation, whose aim was to explore the issue of coping strategies and mental hygiene as a possible prevention of burnout syndrome in the staff accompanying foster care families working organizations that accompany foster families. Affective state elicitation using pictoral and audiovisual stimuli: A comparative study

Both pictures and films are widely used elicitors in experimental approach to emotions. However, there is no consensus regarding their relative impact. I describe conceptual underpinning of these methods, their theoretical comparison, and related methods. In a study of 124 students I assess and compare the impact of pictures and films on experiential, behavioural and physiological reactions. There were stronger reactions in response to positive film than to positive pictures. Negative film and pictures were similar in strength yet different in kind of reactions they yielded. The difference can be explained by different temporal characteristics of both methods. Gender Differences in Sources of Well-being

(in English): This submitted thesis deals with gender differences in sources of well-being. It defines well-being and focuses on defining two significant approaches which are the subjective well-being (SWB) and the psychological well-being (PWB). In the theoretical part it summarizes the most significant demographics and socioeconomics factors which affect the well-being, gender and sex issues, and also focuses on the links between personality and well-being. The empirical part deals with the analysis and exploration of gender's differences of correlations between the well-being and the key characteristics in personality according to the Big Five model, the Schwartz Theory of Basic Values and coping strategies formulated by Carver. Research sample consisted of 2317 students of Masaryk University. The statistical analysis found correlation 0,602 between inventories measuring SWB and PWB. The significantly stronger positive relationship has been confirmed in men between extraversion and PWB, between active coping and PWB and also it has been confirmed, that women have significantly stronger relationship between coping strategy using emotional support and SWB. Psychologic concept of guilt in the work of Karl T. Jaspers

The bachelor thesis describes the concept of guilt in the work of german psychologist and philosopher Karl T. Jaspers. The first part is dedicated to introducing Karl Jaspers as author and thinker, the second part will be elaborating on the context of his own thinking in he light of important thinkers who influenced him. The third part analyses in detail Jaspers's fundametal work The Question of German Guilt, while emphasizing moral and metaphysical guilt. The fourth part is dedicated to the issue of collective guilt and Jaspers's view of this matter and tho reactions of other authors. In the fifth part is developed the concept of conscience, which partly answers some of the questions raised in Jaspers's work. Attachment Representation In Drug Addicted Patients

This research study focuses on the connection between types of attachment (levels of anxiety and avoidance in a relationship) and drug addiction. We researched the levels of anxiety and avoidance in drug addicted patients in their relationships with their mothers and fathers, romantic partners and best friends and compared them with the levels of anxiety and avoidance in informants from a control group who were not addicted to drugs. We examined an experimental group of 103 addicted patients receiving treatment in a therapeutic community and 105 informants in a control group. The results of the research confirmed the hypothesis that drug addicted patients manifest significantly higher levels of anxiety and avoidance in relationships with mothers, fathers, romantic partners and best friends in comparison with the control group informants not addicted to drugs. Although the differences in all areas were substantial, illustrating the attachment typology proved to be problematic. While dividing the responses into quadrants does not consider natural variations of the responses, they were taken into account in both of the mentioned scales. The effect of Gender on Adolescent's theory of mind

The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of gender in adolescent Theory of Mind. The term Theory of Mind (TOM) was introduced more than 30 years ago. Most of the TOM studies investigated Theory of Mind among animals, infants, children and clinical patients. Based on literature review, we know that developmental changes do not stop in childhood but continue through adolescence and into adulthood. Evidently there is a lack of studies on Theory of Mind in adolescents, despite the fact that adolescence is a critical stage for social, emotional and relationship skills. One of the variables important for our research is the effect of gender and gender identity. Gender differences are considered one of the least examined aspects of TOM, and further studies are not specifically aimed to gender-related differences. The tests we employed were Reading Mind in the eyes test (revised version, RMET-R) and Bem Sex-Role Inventory (BSRI). Statistical analysis revealed that older adolescents (17- year old) scored significantly higher than younger (16-year old) on the RMET-R test. Sensation seeking tendency and its relationship to well-being

In the first part, diploma thesis presents theoretical background of well-being and sensation seeking tendency concepts. By analysing available resources in Czech and foreign literature it presents current theoretical understanding of these concepts and discusses their relationship to other psyche phenomena. In the empirical part, research hypotheses about existence of the relationship between well-being represented by SWLS questionnaire (Satisfaction With Life Scale; Diener et al., 1985) and sensation seeking tendency represented by SSS V scale (Sensation Seeking Scale V; Zuckerman, 1979) are examined. As support, Ten-item personality inventory TIPI (Gosling et al., 2003) is used. Two groups of respondents participated in the study: Czech (N = 137) and Slovak (N = 181) which were considered one sample (N = 318). Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis showed negligible significant relationship (r = 0,12; p < 0,05) between sub-scale Experience Seeking (ES) and SWLS. However, EC score did not predict SWLS variance. Overall, study failed to accept hypothesis of existence of the relationship between SWLS and SSS V and hypothesis of mutual independence was accepted.
