Tématem práce je radiofrekvenční identifikace a možnosti jejího využití v knihovnictví. Jejím cílem je představit tuto technologii, principy jejího fungování a možnosti jejího uplatnění v knihovnických procesech. Práce přináší přehled RFID zařízení, určených k použití v knihovnách. Pozornost je zaměřena také na výhody a nevýhody, které s sebou technologie nese. Objasněny jsou také negativní vlivy, které by technologie mohla mít na osobní práva jednotlivců. V závěru práce jsou představeny firmy, nabízející RFID systémy pro knihovny v České republice.

Optimization of processing of documents in library of Bohuslav Martinu Institute

This thesis describes the library of the Bohuslav Martinu Institute. First, there is described history and a current activities of the Institute. The main topic of this work is to decompose the library system of the local library and the information center. There are described static elements (the library collection in detail, catalogues and the library equipment) and dynamic elements (aquisition, organisation and services). The diploma thesis deals with library service quality in relation to the development of library budgets. In the introductory chapter, the teoretical knowledge of service quality is gathered and summarized. The next chapter is focused on the PLIS standard. Attention is paid to its history and current form. The next chapter present an integrated view of the librarianship in the Plzeň region, its financing and regional function. In the next chapter is a detailed analysis of three libraries focussed on their financing, performance indicators and filling PLIS standard. The next chapter looks ahead to autors subjective evaluation of quality of library services in analysed libraries.

Acquisition in (professional / public) libraries

The bachelor's thesis focused on analysis and description of acquisition work in five followed libraries specialised on art. The theoretical part of the thesis describes profiling of collection, acquisition process, financial option of the acquisition, different methods of acquisition (purchase, gift, exchange, legal deposit and other resources). It also deals with e- resources, types of special document which are typical for the professional libraries and methods of evaluating effectiveness of acquisition. The practical part monitors in each library fund profile, the acquisition process, budget and different methods of acquisition. Each chapter about the library is followed by a short summary. In conclusion of the practical part the libraries are compered to each other and it is compared with the theoretical part at the end of the whole thesis.

Unrealized library buildings - influence of the situation on operation and services

The diploma thesis deals with unrealised projects of new buildings or refurbishments of libraries in the Czech Republic. It is notionally split into two parts. The theoretical part contains the reasons, why to build library buildings today and actual requierements on these specific kind of buildings. The most important czech and foreign documents on this topic are presented. One specific part is dealing with funding of library high-priced projects and also examples of successfull projects. The main focus of work is a summary of six public libraries focussed on their poor space conditions. After this, gathered data are equated with each other, with recommended values in Standard of Public Information Library Services and with comparable data of libraries placed in new or reconstructed buildings. In conclusion, the author questions subjectively the future of these six libraries. Part of the thesis is also extensive supplement with photos and graphic visualizations of unrealised projects.

Teenage girls as a specific user group in libraries

Master thesis called "Teenage Girls as a Specific User Group in Libraries" is focusing on users of a library between the ages of 12 - 19 years and on the design of library space for this age group. The theoretical part of the thesis aims to provide the everyday library practice with the basis for creating space for teens, including marketing, staff, services and collections. The theoretical part also focuses on the physiological, psychological, emotional and sociological characteristics of teenage girls. The situation in the Czech Republic is also introduced. With regard to the fact, that the library services and spaces for the teenagers in the Czech Republic are at their very beginnings, the examples from abroad, Germany in particular, are introduced. The practical part is realized by means of a questionnaire survey and interviews. The practical part focuses on existing and potential users of the Municipal Library in Prague, where the new space for teens should be established in a near future. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
