Strategies for improving the class climate

The diploma thesis is divided into two parts. Practical part and theoretical part. The theoretical part is focused on the characteristics of the younger school age of pupils who are the subject of the practical part of the diploma thesis. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with the personality of the teacher, who is one of the main co-creators of the class climate. Diagnostic tools are described here that are used to evaluate the climate of a given class. In the practical part, I use action research to verify which methods and forms of work have led to an improvement in the climate of my class. Morning letter as a tool for promoting reading and literacy

This Master's Thesis deals with the Morning Letter from the program Step by Step as a possible tool for developing reading literacy. The theoretical part deals with the definition of reading literacy, the individual components and its anchoring in the Framework Education Program for Elementary Education. Thesis compares the key competences set out in the Framework Education Program for Elementary Education with reading literacy and explains their relationship and the importance of their equal development. It also describes one of the key program in this area, the program Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking, and its methods of developing reading literacy. It also deals with program Step by Step and the development of reading literacy as its component. Thesis focuses mainly on the Morning Letter as a possible reading strategy. The practical part is based on observations and interviews with teachers from the program Step by Step and their experience with Morning Letters and which forms of them are confirmed to be useful and how is perceived its overlap in reading literacy. It also includes a set of Morning Letters applied in mainstream class and their analysis and reflection in terms of reading literacy. Application of the Innovative Teaching Methods in Education at Primary School

My master's thesis with a title Possible Applications of Innovative Methods for Reading Literacy Development in Elementary School is aimed at the critical thinking methods. These methods lead pupils in elementary school to a development of reading literacy. The theoretical part of my work provides an overview of the curriculum reform and the following changes in learning. The terms teacher, innovation, pedagogical constructivism and reading literacy are explained. The key competences of primary education are described, because their development and fulfilment are important goals of education. Furthermore, the educational programme Reading & Writing for Critical Thinking and the three-phase model of learning with its phases learning, awareness and evocation with emphasis on methods supporting a reading literacy of pupils are narrated. The methods of critical thinking supporting reading literacy of pupils are examined in the practical part of my work. The action research with help of an observation method is used in order to evaluate the impact of the critical thinking methods on the development of key competences and level of reading literacy of pupils. School preparedness support for children with postponement of school attendance

The theme of bachelor's work is School preparedness support for children with postponement of school attendance. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the period of preschool age and its characteristics. Further, are defined the concepts of school readiness, school readiness, enrolment in the first year of nursery school, postponement of school attendance and its reasons. It is described and analysed pedagogical diagnostics, its methods and support options for children with the postponement of school attendance in kindergarten. The practical part is realized in the research the investigation of the possible ways of pedagogical diagnostics to verify the assumptions of the child before commencement of compulsory schooling. Part of the work are three case studies of children with delayed compulsory school attendance, in which are taken into account, the proposed recommendation of the pedagogical-psychological counseling for the creation of the plans of the pedagogical support, which are directed to the overall development of the child.
Readiness of Children to Start School in Cesky Brod Region

The diploma thesis concerns with the school readiness issue in region Cesky Brod. High number of children with compulsory school attendance postponement resists these days, which the government decided to solve with compulsory preprimary year implementation. When framework education programs came into force, schools drew up their own school education programs. The basis, with which they enter the school, diversified. The goal of the thesis is to determine the areas in which most children had problems during the first grade enrollments in Cesky Brod region. The readiness of children to enter school is studied also from the parents' and the teachers' point of view and their points of view are compared. The research combines three methods - observation, questionnaire and case history. For the research during the first grades enrollments the observation was chosen. On the basis of the theory the areas for observation were determined and assessed according to the chosen assessment criteria. The points of view of the parents and teachers were examined in the questionnaire. Teacher and the teacher's assistant's mutual cooperation in the first year of studies at primary school

The topic of this dissertation is the case study which is concerned with the cooperation of the teacher and the teacher's assistant in the process of education of the first class' pupils at primary school. Theoretic part is collected knowledge from the professional literature. There are described possibilities of pupils' support at the beginning of the compulsory education and the role of the teacher's assistant under the terms of this support. The text also includes the position of the teacher's assistant in legislation and the work of personal assistant. I paid attention to ethical and other problems which are connected with the work of teacher's assistant. In empirical part is processed the case study of the first class at quite common elementary school. It was caught the progress and the changes of teacher and teacher's assistant's cooperation in the term of one year. Collecting of the information was made by the form of observation, field research, dialogues and questionnaires. The cooperation between teacher and the teacher's assistant was not under way I expected. I think that on the basis of acquired experience the teacher's assistant did not pay attention to pupils enough time. Bullying prevention in primary school

The master's thesis is devoted to bullying prevention with a focus on primary school pupils. It has both theoretical and empirical character. The theoretical part provides a deeper insight into the issue of bullying clarifies relationships among its actors and the displays of bullying while focusing on types of pupils'aggression. It further provides knowledge of developmental psychology. The bullying prevention part is divided into a sub-part, which teachers can use at class level, and a sub-part, which schools implement at the level of school education programme. At the end the preventive programmes for primary school pupils and organizations which provide primary prevention are described. The empirical part comprises a research conducted using Korthagen's "Spiral of Professional Development". A "Cats'Garden" preventive programme was implemented in the second grade classes of a primary school. After the implementation, a detailed reflection was carried out, in which the basic aspects were evaluated and the alternative options were suggested. Cooperation of a Czech Teacher With an English Native Speaker Teacher in a Bilingual School

The diploma thesis concentrates on characteristics of cooperation between czech and english speaking teachers in bilingual classes. The aim of this thesis is to explore the cooperation at elementary school and to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the collaboration between the two. The theoretical part of this work is based on the literature and it summarizes the main characteristic of this problém. The practical part is an outcome of the qualitative research. Case study focuses on detailed describtion of the bilingual programme backround gained by the author's personal experience. The choosen methods of the reaserch are intviews with bilingual programme teachers and observations of a native speaking teacher. The outcome of the thesis is analysis of data gained from the intrview and observing. On the based of the action research the thesis states the recommendations to rise the efectivity of the bilingual teacher's collaboration. Mutual college support in the Start together program

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of Mutual collegial support in the Step by Step program. It examines how this support is implemented at a selected innovative school. In the theoretical part describes the professional development of a teacher, mutual collegial support, mentoring in teaching and mentor quality. It focuses on the educational activities of Step by Step Czech Republic. In the case study, the research part describes the realization of collegiate support, especially in the form of mentoring. This research method is based on participating observations, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, material and video analysis. A portrait of a mentor, which depicts her style of work, is created in the form of a metaphorical comparison. And it also describes individual forms of collegial support and its benefits or possible constraints. Class management at the 1st and 2nd year of a primary school in non-standard conditions.

The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of managing classes at the first and second level of elementary school in non standard conditions. Specifically, the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions which prohibited physical attendance of children in schools required a change in teaching and a necessity to by flexible in reacting to the crisis measures. Distance learning was a new form of learning for teachers, the pupils and their parents alike. The theoretical portion explains views on guidance of the classroom, discusses the school classroom and the specifics of the first and second level of elementary school. Managing a classroom is a demanding field and there is no general united guide to a functional approach. The teacher perfects themselves through experience and decides on their own what strategies to use. The last chapter of the theoretical portion describes the pandemic and characterizes distance learning. It goes into detail on the situation in the Czech Republic and offers an overview of arisen platforms that should provide communication aid not only for teachers.
