Social skills of auxiliary professions workers
Dobiášová, Šárka ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee)
This thesis deals with the social skills of helping professions. The aim was to capture the level of social skills of selected professions - a psychologist, social worker and clergyman. The research was focused on the social skills as a whole and tries to accommodate the multidimensionality of this researched issue. In the theoretical section, there are outlined the theoretical growing points related to the researched issue. In the empirical part, by means of the SSI R.E. Riggio questionnaire, there are mapped the individual dimensions of social skills in both the social (verbal) and emotional (nonverbal) dimensions while for each dimension it was dealt with the field of expression, sensitivity and control. The findings of this research show that the social skills of helping workers are lower than these expected with the common population. These findings, however, point at a certain uniformity and thus at the balance of various dimensions which are, in particular, verbal and nonverbal. As it regards the selected professions, the best results were achieved with the clergy while the lowest results were achieved with the profession of social workers.
Cultural identity of migrants in France
Sudová, Hana ; Štětovská, Iva (advisor) ; Slaměník, Ivan (referee)
This master thesis investigates adaptation and cultural identity of migrants living in France. The sample consisted of migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa and French overseas departments who went to France for their studies. The research contains a qualitative and a quantitative part. The qualitative study was realized through semi-structural interwiev, in which partici- pated 19 students in age from 21-33 years. Results indicate that the migrants identify in their country of origin mostly with solidarity and warmth of the people, which contrasts with impersonal relationships of an individualistic french society. In spite of occasional experience with discrimination in France, most of migrants seem to adapt quite well. In France, they appretiate mostly the opportunity to succeed in life, which is given to everybody, something that is far from the case in their country of origin. In the quantitative study, 40 migrants in age from 18-45 years completed a questionnaire survey on internet. Due to a small number of participants the research have rather orientatio- nal character. Results indicated, unexpectedly, that the strenght of ethnic identity diminishes over time, which is in contradiction with several previous studies. Another result reveal that African women show better social and psychological...

Furthermore, the theoretical part briefly introduces the development of the concept of quality of life including the definition of its overlapping to the philosophical anchoring in the conception of humanistic, phenomenological and positive psychology, and it presents research, which, at least indirectly, deals with the topic of art and quality of life. The actual research part compares the subjectively perceived quality of life of people interested in art (conservatory students, n = 73) with a comparative group (high school students, n = 66), with a focus on the present situation as well as future expectations. The research results show that the conservatory students attain higher values attesting higher perceived quality of life. However, in order to deduce the chain of causation it is necessary to conduct further research in this area.
