Role of the teacher and his/her responsibility in assessing student's maturity when enrolling in the first grade of primary school

The topic of this diploma thesis is devoted to the issue of a children enrolment to the first form of a basic school as an important milestone in their life. The theoretical part deals with the topic of the enrolment in its full scale. The author presents an overview concerning the issue of school maturity, school preparedness and their diagnostics. Further she deals with the topic of a postponement of school attendance and legislation. The main chapter of the theoretical part is the topic of competencies which a teacher of primary education should have at disposal during enrolments. In the practical part of this diploma thesis the author gives space to teachers, who, by means of a questionnaire and an unstructured interview, reflect their opinions and feelings concerning their role during enrolments. The author deals with their pedagogical competency. The teachers have an opportunity to present their opinions about the current form of the enrolment procedure. The outcome of this thesis is a discussion about usefulness of the current enrolment procedure and concrete suggestions for a change.
Strategies of teaching gifted children at primary school

This master thesis aims to describe the strategies, methods and forms of work, which are effective in teaching gifted pupils at primary school. Another aim is to compare the possibility of their applications in integrated and segregated forms of gifted education. The theoretical part summarizes findings about this issue and the aim is to specify the issue of gifted children in relation to the intelligence, creativity and heredity. Based on the analysis of Czech, but mostly foreign literature, this work definine the strategies and methods of teaching gifted students, which are nowadays used in the classroom. The practical part is focus on a qualitative research method aimed at comparing the work of teachers of gifted students in integrated and segregated forms of teaching. Based on the analysis of teaching and subsequent in-depth interviews with teachers, this thesis is trying to figure out how the teacher in a particular form of teaching is working with talented pupil, which teaching strategies he or she is selecting and how these strategies correspond with the literature search in the theoretical part. In terms of research, it is possible to observe the individual approach of teachers who were surveyed on the issue of gifted.
Cooperation between parents and school at the beginning of school attendance

This diploma thesis deals with cooperation between family and school at the beginning of school attendance. Position of that subject in Czech education system is clarified in the theoretical part, as well as some educational programs and initiatives focusing on this domain of a teacher's work. The practical part presents action research, which is focused on the reflection of my own work experience. It explores possibilities of specific methods and forms of cooperation of class teacher with parents according to an analysis of effectiveness of cooperation between family and school evaluation tool of "Competent Educators of the 21st Century: ISSA's Definition of Quality Pedagogy". This research confirmed that the parents welcome any offer to closer involment in school education and choose the kind of cooperation that best suits their needs and abilities. Development of Educational System in Pelhřimov Region with Concentration on a Small School with Mixed-age Classes in Častrov village

1 ABSTRAKT The aim of the thesis was to eleborate the development process of the Častrov comprehensive primary school in the district Pelhřimov based on the school chronicles and refer to the contribution of the acquired knowledge for the schoolwork. The theoretical part is devoted to the study of commemorative books and also in the wider perspective of the whole P elhřimovsko region. The practical part describes a project carried out with pupils of this school. The purpose was to acquaint the pupils with the history of Častrov school through activation methods and have their impact on the school and the place where they live.
Connection between social skills teaching and classmates relationshipsde

Summary: This dissertation is aiming to find the connection between clasroom relationships development and regular social skills teaching. Specifically if social skills teaching creates positive development within students relationships and if it influences better classroom climate. The teoretical part defines the concept of pedagogical diagnostics, its methods and forms, especially focused on educational - research sociomethry, sociomethric methods and techniques. In the end of theoretical part is described educational program CESTY with subject ‚Social skills focused on the developement of positive relationships between students with ADHD, ADD issues. The empiric part is built on research which was made using sociomethric - rating questionnare of Vladimír Hrabal (S-O-R-A-D). This questionnare was used in three fifth year of elementary school classes for children with specific issues and in three regular elementary school classes. Rating of the results using sociomethric indexes and sociograms is the base for comparing the development of relationships in classes with ADHD students, where the social skills are taught regularly, and three regular classes without this subject. The questionnary was set twice in every class, first time at the beginning of school year and second time at the end of first mid-year.
Approaches of three teachers to the same subject matter

The thesis is focused on comparison of three teachers' approaches to the same subject matter in the area of curriculum, differentiation and high expectations. There are analysed topics in question it the theoretical part. The chapter about curriculum contains information about setting curriculum, where is it set, which role does the teacher play in setting curriculum and how he/she chooses the curriculum. We can find there also information about what types of curriculum and approaches to it do exist. The chapter about high expectations explains the term self-fulfilling prophecy and also the way how it is created and how it can be changed. The topic of the last chapter is differentiation, where there are types of differentiation and way of working with pupil according to their needs. There are concisely described two groups of pupils, pupils with special needs and gifted pupils. The approaches of three teachers are based on recordings and interviews. The results of this study give us information about, how the teachers work with textbook materials and what is their approach to chosen unusual topic. The results also tell us, if the teachers are differentiating and if we can observe different behaviour to various pupils. The thesis analyzes the importance of communication and cooperation between family and school. Further explores the degree and forms of effective communication and cooperation with difficult parents and parents with difficulties. It has been confirmed that each member of effective communication and cooperation benefits from it. Communication and cooperation, to be effective, has to prevent problem situations, that means that the teacher should be proactive. It is crucial to be sensitive to the warning signs from parents, teachers and school management and respond to them. It is important to gain the trust of parents and show them that we - teachers, want exactly the same thing as they do and that is welfare of the child. The empirical part analyzes opinions and experiences of primary teachers with communication and cooperation with difficult parents and parents with difficulties. The questionnaire survey explores how schools and families communicate and cooperate, whom teachers consider to be problematic parents and whom to be parents with problems. Title: Extent and Cause of Private Tutoringat Czech Primary School Summary: This dissertation explores the catch-up classes (shadow education) phenomenon and its forms. Presented research aims to map the scope and root causes of shadow education in the Czech primary/elementary school. Using a questionnaire for parents of primary school students, the research seeks answers how age, gender and social-economic family status relates to preferred form of this education type. The dissertation is based on the results of Mrs. M. Hoschl's research and develops it further. Research sample has been expanded to the area outside of the capital city. Integration of students with learning disabilities and behaviour in regular class

This thesis deals is focused the application of general individualization strategies during work in the regular primary school classroom where pupils with learning diasabilities and specific behavior are integrated. Its aim is to describe the way the teacher tries to find optimal solutions using a form of action research. It deals with the status of these pupils in the class. What is their attitude and how they are motivated for school work. It traces how is the process perceived by pupils themselves, by thein schoolmates and thein parents. Perception of their problems by classmates and their parents. It reflects how the choice of the strategy affects the level of professional competence and teaching style of the teacher. It describes the benefits and risks associated with the integration of children with learning disabilities in the common classroom. It maps the possible strategies of differentiation and individualization of teaching methods and strategies that support students with learning disabilities an specific behavioral.
