Preparation of a preschool child for the entrance to elementary school

This dissertation adresses the issue of preparation and readiness of a preschool child before his/her entrance to elementary school. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is concerned with the definitions of basic terms, such as school maturity and school readiness. The second chapter is dedicated to developmental psychology of a preschool child. The third chapter is concerned with diagnosis of a preschool child from the position preschool education, and the last chapter is centered on a child at risk in elementary school. The practical part is dedicated to qualitative experimental investigation which obser- ves the advancement of teak parts in selected sample of children from normal and spe- cial class of kindergarten school and it is supported by an intervention program.
Self-harm in children

Title: Self-harm in children Abstract This thesis deals with the topic of self-injury of adolescents. Its goal is to analyze the adolescents' view of self-injury, how the youth themselves define self-injury and what they perceive to be self-injurious behavior. The work is divided into two core parts. The first section focuses on the definition of the self-injury and reviews both current Czech and international literature. Particular attention is devoted to the inconsistent terminology, definitions and presentation of the recent classification system of self- injury. The second part is devoted to the research of explorative character. The data have been collected through a survey using anonymous self report questionnaire from 73 pupils between the ages of 13-15 and they were analysed using categorization and the method of factor and cluster analysis. Factor analysis extracted ten factors which served as the meaningful units and can be interpreted as adolescents' viewpoints of self- injury. Findings suggest the adolescents consider not only direct destruction of one's own body as example self-injury but also behavior that indirectly leads to negative health outcomes (eating disorders, smoking, abuse of alcohol). Using of the method of Camberwell Assessment of Need in people with mental illnes

anglicky The research study deals with the use of Camberwell Assessment of Need (CAN - Clinical version) in the process of assessing the needs of people with mental illness in order to find out whether the instrument appears to be useful for identifying the needs of people with mental illness in the process of providing specific social services (i.e. services provided by Fokus Praha) and to identify whether this tool may be used in practice in future as a supporting platform for designing of appropriate interventions. The work in this research has its theoretical and functional aspects. The theoretical part of the conducted research devoted attention to the needs particularly some of the theoretical aspects of needs. Aggressive behavior in children with autistic spectrum disorder

The bachelor thesis addresses the aggressive behaviour with children with autism spectrum disorder. A relatively wide range of manifestations of aggressive behaviour can be observed within the diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder. The aim of this thesis was to identify these manifestations along with their appearance rate. The thesis is devided into two parts - a theoretical one and an empirical one. The theoretical part deals with the question of problematic behaviour, mainly aggressive bahaviour. It further describes the autism spectrum disorder, classification of diagnoses, historical development of autism and the so called autism triad of impairments. The empirical part of the thesis presents a research aimed at identification of aggressive behaviour manifestations with children with autism spectrum disorder. The data were collected through a questionaire. The participant group was selected as parents of children with autism spectrum disroder.

Burnout syndrome of kindergarten teachers

RESUME This diploma is dedicated to stress and burnout syndrom. Objective of this diploma is to find out what is the rate of mental strain concerning burnout syndrom and to map occurence of burnout syndrom for kindergarten teachers. We were interested how burnout syndrom is impacted by professional experience, number of children, place of work, team satisfaction and level of personal satisfaction according to age of teacher. It is focused to teacher's career and to specific stress categories. I have used Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire which is standardized for measurement of burnout syndrom and questionnaire dedicated to find out sensitivity against stress. I have used own questionnaire to find out demographic figures. Final result indicates most of teachers are resistant against stress. Burnout syndrom across all three areas was indicated only for one respondent from total number of 100 asked teachers. For 8 teachers burnout syndrom was confirmed in two areas.
Children with Autism and their Interests

The aim of this thesis is to map the interests of the child with Asperger syndrom then compare them with the interests of the child in the same intact age, and on comparisons to specify the common and different features of interest. Another goal is to assess whether the development of a boy with Asperger syndrome and intact boys changes their interests. I focused on the boy with Asperger syndrome whether there is the possible link of interest based on the specifics of the disability itself. The theoretical part is devoted to describing the characteristics of autism spectrum disorders more closely with ideas about Asperger syndrome. It also includes the characteristics of interests and game of intact children as compared with the specifics of the game and the interests of children with autistic spectrum disorders. Qualitative type of research and the method of observation have been chosen for purposes of empirical studies. The practical part follows the theoretical part. It is complemented by concrete examples in the form of two case studies, which were based on the observation of a boy with Asperger's syndrome and the intact boys, and also based on additional information obtained from interviews with parents due to the need to complete anamnesis data.
Visitors' care - advantages and disadvantages

The baccalaureate report is focused on a new developing type of adoption and foster care - visitors' care. In theoretic part visitors' care is introduced as a one of the possibilities how to let children from children's home know family life and function of common family. In this part, there are named reasons of taking children away from their own biological family and the ways of working with those children. Visitors' care is introduced in the system adoption and foster care. Then the report treats about what conditions on an applicant of visitors' care are and what children can be included in this type of care and moreover, how should this care be realized. Because this report is concerned on possibilities of satisfying of psychological needs at visitors' care and advantages and disadvantages which visitors' care brings, one of the chapters is focused on theory of the basic psychological needs by Matějček and Langmeier. Practical part concerned on three sights on visitors' care and its evaluation including mentioned aspects. Those three sights come from interviews conducted with directors of children's homes and workers of Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children; and from questionnaires filled in by the visitors.
