The psychology of murder
Rovná, Renata ; Netík, Karel (advisor) ; Boukalová, Hedvika (referee) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
The main concern of this thesis is to describe the motivation of the offender of murder and psychological background of this extremely aggressive antisocial act. The whole work was conceived from the perspective of expert's witness work. It draws mainly on the knowledge of forensic psychology, as well as other border areas. It is based on a total of processing 38 expert witness statements of accused murderers. In this set, Schlesinger's concept of criminal motivation was applied by using a simple methodology. The aim was to verify whether it is possible to determine the nature of motivation. Also used was the opportunity of causal assessment recidivism, and compared the responses with expert witness's opinion if they were comparable. Both hypothesis were confirmed on significance level α = 0,05. Since this is a relatively unique set of explorands with high proportion of homicide offenders active in organized crime and hired killers, there were compiled descriptive statistics of the tested group, which was divided subsequently into two smaller criterion: murder by organized crime. Group "organized murderers" (n = 17) was compared with the file "unorganized murderers" (n = 21). Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Hurníková, Linda ; Netík, Karel (advisor) ; Boukalová, Hedvika (referee)
The main focus of this thesis is to approach the issue of a criminal's (more specifically murderer's) personality, by means of forensic psychology. It is unfortunately not easy to explain why is one able to take another person's life. We on the other hand can gain a closer look to motivation and personal features, which can lead one to do so. The thesis focuses on knowledge of an official referee, which has been gain through a few recent years. The outcome data have been sorted out and eventually used to a criminal personality research. We've tried to map possible likeness of traits in behaviour, motivation and personal variables. A person's behaviour is, apart from the inner variables, influenced by outside factors as well. That is why this thesis pays attention to a broader area in a theoretical field of criminal engagement and criminal history. It offers a comprehensive picture of murder and factors, which influence it. Neverthless, the criminal and his personality remain the key factor. Psychological aspects of identification and its use in forensic context
Molnárová, Monika ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Urbanová, Miluše (referee) ; Netík, Karel (referee)
This dissertation thesis is an overview study of recognition of human individuals and its role in forensic identification. It begins with basic structures of identification, meaning and usage of mug books, facial composite identification, and for the most part, recognition. We discuss suitability and feasibility of these methods and base the reasoning on the results of research from other countries. Such methods are undoubtedly affected by eyewitness's identification accuracy and therefore we also focus on factors influencing this. We group the factors by the ones which can and the ones which cannot by affected by law enforcement while we pay a special attention to the variables which are objects of scientific research, such as sequential lineups versus simultaneous lineups, foil selection, age, race, and confidence of the eyewitnesses who are performing the identification. Finally, we include a practical administrator's manual which describes the identification procedure step by step in a greater detail: how to create photo arrays, live lineups, facial composite recognition, and mug books, how to instruct eyewitnesses, and how to supervise the entire lineup procedure up to documenting it. The guide is based on many U.S. manuals and contains standalone recommendations as well as explanations why some...

Our data were obtained in November and December 2003, when the participants answered an anonymous questionnaire with questions about their sexual behaviour. For statistical analyses the Statistical package for social sciences was used and the differences between the two samples were calculated by T test for two independent samples (for quantitative data) and Chí square test (for qualititative data). Sample: The sample consisted of 1000 men and 1000 women and was fully representative in terms of sex, age, obtained education, economical activity, region and the size of place of residence. The relationship between criminal personality and the way of commission serious crimes. Profiling with the application of geographical mapping
Buriánková, Lucie ; Boukalová, Hedvika (referee) ; Netík, Karel (advisor)
The topic of this thesis is the relationship between offender's personality and the way of commission serious crimes. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first of them introduces the basic concepts and terminology with respect to the offender's personality. Attention is focused on personality disorders and on some sexual paraphilias that are the most important for forensics. The topics that relate to offender's behavior are discussed as well - motivation, modus operandi, offender's signature, and the crime scene. The second part deals with psychological and geographical profiling. Various attitudes and theories are discussed. Third and at the same time the closing part of the thesis focuses on practical applications of knowledge derived from psychological and geographical profiling in a geographical information system. Two real cases of serious crimes are analyzed. The evaluation of the findings, and of the discussed methods is presented in the discussion. The appendices are placed at the back of the thesis and involve map outputs of the geographical profiling and a vocabulary of important words.
Psychological profiling of the offender during investigation of serious offences with emphasis on sexually motivated delicts
Doležalová, Barbora ; Boukalová, Hedvika (referee) ; Netík, Karel (advisor)
This diploma work overviews and clarifies findings which were made in the field of psychological profiling of the offender. Presented text is based on the interdisciplinary approach that connects and summarizes conclusions which were collated in the domain of specific forensic sciences and are closely associated with offender profiling. The principal inputs included in the theoretical part of the work are primarily gathered from American sources, but there are also mentioned significant European and domestic contributions to the profiling method. Besides general theoretical thesis, methodological principals and relevant historical connections it is particularly focused on profiling of those offenders who have committed serious sexual delicts, especially sexual murders and rapes. Throughout the work the accent is put on characteristic aspects of the crime scene, on specific methods of acting, on victimology and of course on wide spectrum of offender characteristics. The theory is illustrated by two criminal cases where the practical use of profiling process is clearly demonstrated. Some concrete suggestions of further research are also involved.
