Background: The bachelor's thesis deals with the assessment of the long term health- related the quality of life (HRQOL) in children up 2 to 8 years of age following burn inury by The Brisbane Burn Scar Impact Profile (BBSIP) questionnaire in the Czech Republic. Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis was to provide a review of the literature and individual studies about HRQOL in children following burn injury and its context. The aim of the empirical part was to assess the influence of individual socio- demographic and clinical determinants on the HRQOL in these patients, identify, which of these variables most predict the HRQOL and implicate these findings into the context of nursing practice regarding comprehensive care for pediatric patients with burns. In this study we also examined the psychometric properties of the czech version of the BBSIP questionnaire on a sample of pediatric patients in the Czech Republic. Methods: The study population comprised n = 1221 children aged up 2 to 8 years, who were hospitalized at the Department of Burn Medicine, 3rd Medical Faculty, Charles University and the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital in the period 2016-2021 and met inclusive and exclusive criteria. Influence of Religiosity on Quality of Life of patients with Epilepsy
Kolská, Marta ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to investigate how the variables Locus of Control, God Locus of Health Control and religiosity predict the quality of life of patients with epilepsy and whether these variables differ in prevalence in a healthy control group. Methods: The research group consisted of 275 patients with epilepsy examined within the neuropsychological Centre for the Treatment of Epilepsy of the Department of Neurology, 2nd Medical Faculty and Motol University Hospital. The comparison group consisted of a group of 182 healthy respondents. Respondents were interviewed using WAIS-III, EPQ R abbreviated version, BDI-II, VAS, QOLIE-89 (version 1.0) and GLHC. The t-test and the Mann-Whitney test were used to determine differences between groups. Contingency tables were used for discrete quantities. The relationship between the variables was demonstrated by Spearman's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Motol University Hospital. Results: The resulting model of stepwise linear regression prediction of the Mean score showed that by including the variables Neuroticism HS and GLHC˃6 in the overall model, these significant variables can explain 21.44 % variability of Locus of control (R2=0.2144). It was also found...

Needs of patients and carers in palliative care
Oktábcová, Marie ; Mádlová, Ivana (advisor) ; Javůrková, Alena (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the needs of patients and caregivers in palliative care. The theoretical part defines the concept of palliative care, the forms of its provision and the specifics of the work of a nurse in palliative care. A separate chapter is devoted to needs and their evaluation. The aim of the work is to use a standardized questionnaire IPOS (Integrate Palliative Outcome Scale) to find out what are the differences in perceptions of needs between patients and their caring family members, as well as between patients and caring professionals - general nurses. It was found that the needs of patients are assessed by their caregivers differently from patients themselves. The biggest discrepancy between the assessment of patient's needs and caring family members were on the area of physical needs, specifically in the question of pain or dryness in the mouth. The biggest discrepancy between the evaluation of patients and nurses was in the psychological needs, in particular the level of depression. Professionals have evaluated the palliative patient needs better than caring family members. However, none of the nurses and families answers to the standardized questionnaire were 100% in agreement with patient responses. Use of a measuring tool to assess the needs of patients in the palliative...

Another aim is to identify potential risk factors for anti-seizure medication use and sociodemographic and clinical characteristics in epilepsy. The study includes a total of 222 individuals with epilepsy. The results based on ROC curve analysis indicate good results in terms of concurrent validity of the Emotional Thermometer and the suitability of its use for screening depression and anxiety in people with epilepsy as part of...
