Bartuňková, Eliška ; Kinkorová, Ivana (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Author: Eliška Bartuňková Title: Health risks and incidence of injuries in BMX racing Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the frequency and prevalence of different types of injuries in BMX racing athletes of different ages and different levels. Furthermore, to determine the causes influencing the incidence of possible injuries or accidents and to compare the differences between athletes under 18 years of age and athletes over 18 years of age. Methods: A questionnaire survey was used to collect data, containing both open and closed-ended questions regarding the prevalence, causes, frequency, severity and prevention of injuries in BMX racing. The survey was sent in electronic form to Czech and international BMX athletes and was completed by 222 respondents. Results: The research showed that 94 % of respondents had been injured while riding BMX, confirming the claim that BMX is a high-risk sport. There was no evidence that the sport was more dangerous in competition or training, almost half (48 %) of the injuries were recorded in training and 53 % in competition. In addition, a total of 634 injuries were recorded, an average of 2.8 injuries per athlete. Minor injuries in the form of abrasions were the most common type of injury, while concussion was the predominant type of serious...

Nutrition awareness of U19 football players
Hlous, Vojtěch ; Jandová, Tereza (advisor) ; Kinkorová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Nutrition awareness of U19 football players Objectives: The primary aim of the bachelor thesis was to determine the knowledge of individual players in the field of rational diet and then to evaluate these results obtained by means of an online survey. A secondary aim of the study was to gain insight into the extent to which individual players are interested in the use of a rational diet during their sporting career. Methods: In the practical part of the bachelor thesis a quantitative research strategy in the form of a survey was used. The questionnaire survey was used to collect data about the probands and their eating habits and awareness on the issue of rational diet. The results were evaluated and the results were shared with the representatives of the clubs where the survey was conducted. For ethical reasons, only adults or probands over 18 years of age were approached for the survey, as there was no use of invasive methodologies and the questions were not personal in any way, were anonymous only, and no approval was sought from the UK FTVS Ethics Committee. Results: The questionnaire survey showed that football players are quite informed about the topic of rational dietary principles, but their knowledge of this topic is not at a level where they can navigate it completely...
Motivation to sport climbing
Brezina, David ; Turčová, Ivana (advisor) ; Baláš, Jiří (referee)
Title: Motivations of Climbers for Sport Climbing Objectives: The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to determine what motivates climbers to engage in the activity of sport climbing. Additionally, we investigated the influence of age, gender, and duration of climbing practice on climbers motivation. Methods: The research was conducted through a survey among 78 sport climbers (37 women and 41 men) in the Czech Republic. The survey inquired about various aspects of climbing motivation, such as personal reasons, risk perception, and social factors influencing participation in climbing activities. The survey included a total of 14 closed or semi-closed questions with selectable options. The results were processed using Microsoft Excel and Google Forms. Results: We found that the most common motivations for sport climbing are: overcoming personal limits and fears, the desire for physical improvement, the social aspect-meeting friends and building community, and the climbing activity itself. Furthermore, we discovered that younger climbers tend to seek adventure and excitement more. Older climbers cited being in nature and the climbing activity itself as their main motives. Both genders mentioned the social and communal aspect as an important motivation. Men leaned more towards the physical challenge and...
Implementation of thermal convection model in ASPECT
Štencová, Ivana ; Čížková, Hana (advisor) ; Čadek, Ondřej (referee)
The outermost layer of the Earth, the lithosphere, is broken into several pieces called lithospheric plates. These plates move relative to each other at a rate of several centimeters per year. In regions where two tectonic plates meet, one plate may be forced beneath the other, a process known as subduction. One of the most important tools enabling us to study this phenomenon is nu- merical modeling of thermal convection. Dozens of different programs are used within the international geodynamic community to solve the system of equa- tions describing the flow. Among them, a software package called ASPECT has been gaining prominence recently. ASPECT utilizes the finite element method to solve the governing equations and is particularly distinguished by its imple- mented adaptive mesh refinement. This feature is highly practical when study- ing subduction of lithospheric plates, as it allows for precise resolution of the narrow deformation zone at the plate boundaries. In the course of our work, we compared this program with the alternative software package SEPRAN, which has been used at the Department of Geophysics since the late 1990s. A sub- duction model with a mobile overriding plate was created in ASPECT, and its results were compared with an equivalent model implemented in SEPRAN. The fundamental...
Václav Klaus' Idiolect: A Corpus-based Analysis
Schmid, Ondřej ; Škrabal, Michal (advisor) ; Bozděchová, Ivana (referee)
This thesis explores the idiolect of Václav Klaus using the tools and methods of corpus linguistics. The main aim of the research is a comprehensive analysis of Klaus' idiolect and its potential changes over time and depending on the public offices that Klaus held, with particular emphasis on the lexical level of the idiolect, which is most telling about the meanings that are conveyed. In order to achieve the main research goal, a corpus of Václav Klaus'texts was built for research purposes, compiled from his texts publicly available on his official website. The main method of data analysis in this research is the corpus method of keyword analysis, which works on the principle of comparing the relative frequencies of units (usually word forms or lemmas) in the text or corpus under study with the relative frequency of the same units in a reference corpus, which usually serves as a standard of language usage. On the basis of this comparison with appropriate reference corpora, key units (lemmas in most of the analyses conducted) are identified in the Klaus corpus that occur statistically significantly more frequently than would be expected on the basis of their occurrence in the reference corpus. A combination of other quantitative and qualitative methods is then used to identify those key lexical...

,,It was like a job for me": Transition of Ukrainian refugees to the private rental housing market in the Czech Republic
Kostelecká, Veronika ; Rapoš Božič, Ivana (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
(in English): The Czech Republic has become one of the top destinations for refugees from Ukraine following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. However, research conducted in the Czech context regarding housing for refugees from Ukraine has yet to fully capture the complexity of their experiences in this regard. Utilizing qualitative research with a phenomenological framework, I conducted semi-structured interviews with refugees from Ukraine who have secured housing in the private rental housing market within the Prague metropolitan area. The primary research question addressed their strategies for finding accommodation in the private rental market, along with sub-questions exploring their motivations and barriers to entry into this market, as well as their utilization of capital during this transition. Thus, I identified a strategy of maximising one's own independence, a strategy of maintaining financial sustainability and a strategy of mobilising social networks. The findings of this study revealed that refugees are proactive agents, actively seeking to control their own lives. They employ creative strategies utilizingcapital available tothem to overcome various barriers and successfully access the private rental housing market. Consequently, this thesis contributes valuable insights...
