Aljaška, která je od roku 1959 49. státem USA, je unikátní lokalitou hned z několika hledisek. Ačkoliv je součástí západního civilizovaného světa, je jednou z posledních zachovalých přírodních divočin na Zemi. Ačkoliv je postupně osidlována přistěhovalci a domorodci jsou již více než století stavěni před dilemata spojená s asimilací, nevytvořila si novou vlastní kulturu - její kulturní specifika jsou nadále určována kombinací původních kulturních vzorců Eskymáků Yup'ik a Inupiat, a indiánů Tlingit, Haida, Athabasků, Aleutů a importovaných kultur. Práce se zabývá studiem střetů civilizace a přírody, resp. civilizace a původních etnik, a to skrze obsahovou i strukturní analýzu audiovizuálních artefaktů, v tomto případě filmových záznamů i hotových filmů z kategorie fiction i non-fiction. Předmětem analýzy je metoda a variabilita možných přístupů k reprezentaci Aljašky prostředky audiovize, a zkoumá zejména vznik a rozvíjení stereotypů v zobrazení přírody a života člověka v tamních specifických podmínkách. Výhodou výzkumu je ohraničenost lokality, poměrně malá probádanost a svým způsobem i přehlednost (i početní) audiovizuálního materiálu. Vedle samotného teoretického rozboru práce poskytuje kontextuální kapitoly z geografie i historie Aljašky, vedle klasika G. Snydera v českém kontextu vůbec poprvé... Alaska, which has been the 49th state of the USA since 1959, is a very unique locality according to many viewpoints. Although it is a part of the civilized Western world, it presents one of the last well- preserved wildlife on the Earth. Although Alaska is gradually settled by immigrants, native people have to deal with their dilemma connected with assimilation for many centuries. They did not create their own new culture - its cultural specifics are still defined by combination of original cultural patterns of Yup'ik and Inupiat Eskimos and natural tribes Tlingit, Haida, Athabaska, Aleut and imported cultures. My work is a study of clashes between civilization and nature resp. civilization and original ethnic groups and it goes throughout structural analysis of audiovisual artefacts, in this case visual records and films from fictional and non-fictional category. The subject of my analysis is a method and variability of possible approaches to Alaska presentation by audiovisual means and mainly examines formation and development of stereotypes in presentation of wildlife and human lifestyle in their specific conditions.
