It gives a description of these monuments and a detailed analysis of the extant murals. It also follows motivs used on paintings and it looks for parallels to these themes on older funerary monuments. Marginally the work deals with Roman copies of lost Hellenistic originals. Bachelor thesis "Martinic palace in Prague during the ownership of George Bořita of Martinic and his follower Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic. Its architectural form and decoration" is based on the Martinic palace in the Hradčany square during the ownerships of George Bořita of Martinic and Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic. At the beginning you can find the list of the owners, who owned the palace, during this there appeared important changes not only architectural, but also in decoration. The first cheapter is devoted to the list of the owners who owned the palace. The next cheapter is about the architectural appearance of the palace, that is about the inside and outside. There is also a cheapter, devoted to the Martinic family, the first of all about the two owners of the palace, which where pround to be discendents of this family. They are George Bořita of Martinic and Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic, who made important changes of the palace. Among them also sgraffitos on the main frontage in the direction of Kanovnická street. There are elaborated Joseph stories. Another sgraffitos was used on two walls of yards frontage, where you can see Samson's deeds and Hercules acts. Iconography of wall paintings in the Straka Palace at Malá Strana in Prague

Iconography of wall paintings in the Straka Palace at Malá Strana in Prague Abstract This thesis "Iconography of wall paintings in the Straka Palace at Malá Strana in Prague" deals with the interpretation of the iconographic program of the decoration of the Straka's of Nedabylice palace on Malá Strana. The work deals primarily with the wall paintings made by Swiss painter Johann Rudolf Bys, ordered by Count Jan Petr Straka of Nedabylice for his Prague residence. Particular attention is paid to the main hall of the palace, which concentrates the most valuable and the most complicated part of the iconography painted decorations. Allegorical and mythological scenes related to historical events and celebrate the Emperor Leopold I. as the victor over the Turks and Louis XIV. The work also describes and interprets the murals and stucco decorations in other salons representative storey of the palace. The interpretation of these paintings is filed under the historical and political context of the time and knowledge of personality of Jan Petr Straka, who was anticipated customer and Inventor of the iconographic program . Prague Johanniters in the Middle Ages - architecture and wall painting

Bc. Čestmír Cimler: Prague Johanniters in the Middle Ages This thesis, named Prague Johanniters in the Middle Ages- architecture and wall painting is focusing on architecture and frescoes of Order of Malta in Prague before the break of Hussite wars. One of aims of the thesis is also to figure out typology and function of buildings of the Order, falling within the Priory of Bohemia's authority. Art production od the Orderhas not been systematically examined till today. Range of authority of the Priory overlapped the area of Bohemia into Moravia, Silesia, Hungary and Austria. The relations among commandries were quite close, most likely because of expansion of the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. Under the autority of the Priory of Bohemia was a great amount of commandries. Several of them are preserved till today; others were partially destroyed or even damaged completely. The most important Order's seat in Bohemia was a commandry belonging to the Church of Lady beneath the Chain, founded in 60's of 12th century, developing till the first quarter of 15th century. The Church of our Lady beneath the Chain is a very significant monument because of its architecture. This church is composed of many construction phases, from Romanesque to baroque times. Mural art and its development in Czech republic This work deals with mural art as street art discipline. It briefly describes the development of muralism into the 20th century. Subsequently, he deals with the development of street art from the arrival of graffiti to the present, with the main emphasis being on mural art. The main part of the text shows this development in the Czech Republic, mentions the leading personalities of the Czech mural art scene and then maps its main centers and presents concrete examples of murals. Haptic model displaying the Saint Augustine for visually impaired people

This master thesis is composed of two sections, a theoretical and a practical one. The first chapter of theoretical part is focused on medieval European art with emphasis on a medieval artist and a wall painting. Next chapter describes ascetic life through religious order and their significant personalities. This part is primarily focused on a life of saint Augustin. The third chapter is about a project of Department of art which is focused on a creation of haptic models for sightless people and it describes its outputs. The practical part introduces a creation of haptic model according to a wall drawing of saint Augustin. This drawing is placed in cloister of a former Dominican monastery in České Budějovice. It represents a final conception of unordinary haptic model which is created in an embossed linear drawing.

The theoretical part of the bachelory thesis focuses on the character of Saint George and the importance of his cult. The emphasis is put mainly on various ways of depiction of this saint in the European context and also in Bohemian countries. Full attention is drawn to the art of painting and wall paintings with regard to the topic of the practical part of presented work. Hence there is mentioned the issue of people with visual disabilities and, in coherence with that, haptic perception. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to make a haptic model based on the fresco of St. George and the dragon, that is going to work as an aid for the blind or purblind people. The model is made of burnt ceramic clay and coloured with acrylic paints. The created work will be placed in the monastic Church of the Sacrifice of Virgin Mary in České Budějovice as a part of the exposition "Haptic models for disabled people".
Processing of gothic wall painting as compensational haptic aids for the visually impaired

The theoretical and practical part is dealing with the detail of a czech wall painting with the motif of the Virgin Mary from the peak era of the Middle Ages. The theoretical part introduces the marian theme. It describes its iconography, meaning in art and closely specifies the division of images according to devotional themes. The next part is focused on the description and analysis of the motif of the Virgin Mary the Protector, which is depicted on wall painting in a cloister of the Church of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in České Budějovice. In the practical part is fundamental creation of the relief as a haptic aid for the visually impaired. Created reliefs are polychrome reconstruction of the wall paintings of the above-mentioned motif. The work is supplemented by other materials, implementation procedure, sketches and photo documentation.
European context of phenomenon of green rooms on example of Castle Blatná decoration

Green room at castle Blatná and resources of its decoration Dissertation "Green room at castle Blatná and resources of its decoration" deals with the decoration of the room in the tower of castle Blatná called by plant decoration covering the walls of the green room. It is striving to find mainly models or inspiration of its painting. After evaluation of the basic literature there is a chapter which introduces castle Blatná as whole. Therefore, it includes the introduction of the history of castle Blatná, its construction development and decoration of the Room of a knight in the Old castle. The next part is already dealing with the green room itself. Gradually, it is searching for connections with graphics, book painting and tapestries. The last chapter contents the stylistic and iconographical-iconological evaluation of the whole decoration. It is striving to identify particular themes of figural paintings and to find a clue to the revealing the background of thought of the whole decoration.
An atypical mediaeval imaging of the Holy Trinity in Regni Hungariae in the Middle Ages

The thesis is concerned with an atypical image type of the Holy Trinity. Mediaeval authors stood in front of the hard question, how imagine three personed God (three different persons one substantiality) in the art work so that be express doctrine of the Trinity. They put up with this challenge in a different ways. In the first part of the thesis describing development, stabilizing and final acceptance of the "Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed". At the same time is this part some of introduction to this Christian mystery. The second part is then focused on a development particular iconographic types, famous analogies, trinity symbols, etc. Fourth chapter is dedicated to concrete three locations in Upper Hungary area (Žehra, Ochtiná, Rákoš), where we can see this atypical iconographical three headed type. Special care is devoted absolutely unique picture of the Holy Trinity in Rákoš.
