Health and quality of life of teachers in elementary school

This thesis deals with the health and quality of life of elementary school teachers. The aim of this thesis is to provide informations on selected aspects of the health and quality of life of teachers. The thesis is divided into theoretical part and research part. For the collection of data of research part was used the questionnaire method. The questionnaire verifies assumptions that have been drawn up on the basis of practical experience from the teacher's work. Some assumptions have been confirmed, others have not. At the end of the research, suggestions for a practice responding to the survey results are presented. The teacher's personality in relation to the stress situations coping strategies and its influence on education

The dissertation deals with the topic of managing and experiencing stressful (extraordi-nary) situations in teaching in connection with selected teachers' personality traits. The thesis has a theoretical-empirical character. Its theoretical part presents some basic know?ledge related to the topics relevant to the processed issues (teacher's profession, persona?lity, motivation, emotion, workload and stress in the teaching profession context, selected teaching methods and organizational forms, recommendations for effective teaching and learning difficulties solutions, basics of artefacts symbolic interpretation). The aim of the research described in the empirical part of the thesis is to obtain the detailed information about the experience of difficult situations in teaching and the possibilities of their man?agement in connection with the personality structure of the selected teachers. The re?search was carried out in the mixed methods design. His qualitative part contains a multiple? case study (semi-structured interviews were conducted with six lower se?condary school teachers, their teaching was observed, an interview about their thematic collage on the theme Me as a teacher in all its positions and roles was conducted, and the same questionnaires were applied as for the quantitative part of the survey) and some open coded interviews about the thematic collages. In the quantitative research section, the data from four questionnaires were evaluated the orientation questionnaire for detecting stress in teachers by Henning and Keller (1996), the Stress Management Stra?tegies SVF 78 (Janke & Erdmann, 2003), the Freiburg Personality Inventory (Kollárik, Poliaková, & Ritomsky, 1984) and a questionnaire of our own design contains open questions. Most of the participants in the research study experience extraordinary situa?tions in their teaching, which usually cause unpleasant emotions and affect their teaching negatively. Particular relationships between personality characteristics and the teaching of the participants have been found. Respondents did not show a higher level of psychoso?matic disturbance, emotional lability, depressivity or neuroticity compared to the com?mon population. Neither between the level of stress feelings and the age or length of practice, no statistically significant relationship has been found. On the contrary, the male self-description and the adaptive burden management showed a mutually significant con?nection. Also, a higher level of stress impact in physical aspect of women compared to men proved to be statistically significant.
The Burnout Syndrome in Teachers' Work

TITLE The Burnout Syndrome in Teachers' Work ABSTRACT The burnout syndrome represents a serious problem affecting the quality of the life of the stricken persons as well as their efficiency. The notion burnout is defined here. This bachelor thesis specifies the main theoretical sources of burnout, the evolution and the formation of its characteristics. It brings the summary of the circumstances which can facilitate or limit the origin and development of burnout. The burnout syndrome affects members of helping professions mainly. The concept of the helping professions is defined here. The teaching profession is one of the helping professions. The teaching profession is one of the demanding professions. There are the various influences disturbing the work of teachers which affect the overall personal performance and professional satisfaction. This bachelor thesis reports physical and psychical load in teacher work. Situations that can be the source of the emotional exhaustion for teachers are mentioned. The causes of the burnout syndrome, the symptomatology and some of its negative consequences considering the teaching profession are described. The view of the teachers' roles via the thematic collages

The work deals with motivation and emotions in connection with the teacher profession. The theoretical part provides knowledge of different approaches to motivation and emotions, and about the connection of this issue with the teacher profession. In relation to the teacher emotions there are also discussed the burden and stress in their profession. The practical part of the paper examines the above mentioned at eight elementary and lower secondary school teachers by using semi-structured interview and thematic collages, dedicated to the professional role of teachers.
Stress in profession of a pedagogue

Work deals with stress problems in the profession of a pedagogue. Theoretic part of the work describes stress problems, its causes, manifestations, effects plus ways of managing from the viewpoint of pedagogic profession. Conclusion of theoretic part of work is applied to personalities of a pedagogue of spare time, demands on his occupation and presence of stress at doing this profession. Practical part of work surveys whether pedagogues of spare time consider, on the grounds of subjective evaluation, their occupation as stressful and if factors of teacher's stress on teacher's and pedagogues of spare time agree.
