Dietary habits of patients with upper respiratory tract diseases
PANUŠOVÁ, Michaela
The issue of respiratory diseases is very broad, and therefore I focused my research on obstructive sleep apnoea. In the theoretical part we will discuss the anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pathology of the respiratory system. In addition, sleep apnea will be defined its types and emphasis will be placed on the description of obstructive sleep apnea. The greatest risk factor for the development of OSA is obesity. As the number of obese people is increasing worldwide, the number of people with this condition is also increasing. The Mediterranean diet is considered a healthy lifestyle and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. It may also have an impact on the treatment of OSA. The practical part focuses on qualitative research that aims to map the dietary habits of patients with obstructive sleep apnoea, to determine their awareness of diets related to this disease and to map OSA patients in terms of body weight. The research revealed that the dietary habits of patients are not ideal. Patients have a problem with high fat intake and lack of vegetables and fruits. Patients were not well informed about their diets. The last finding was that the more the patients gained weight, the worse their breathing difficulties became. This affects their sleep and they also wake up more often at night. The results of this work may help doctors and patients in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea and promote healthy lifestyles, and could also serve as a reminder that a multidisciplinary team of specialists is needed to treat this disease, just as it is for diabetes mellitus, for example.
Weight loss with the help of physical activities and healthy eating
KOPEČKOVÁ, Vendula
My bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of weight reduction. The aim is to set and verify a month-long program to reduce weight thanks to regular exercise and balanced healthy diet. Statistic methods, methods of exercise program application, rules of healthy eating, anthropometric measurements, and questionnaire were used to research how the intervention program affects body weight, muscle weight, the size of problematic body parts especially waistline and hipline. There were positive changes in the experimental group in connection with the intervention program. There were statistically important changes connected to weight loss, muscle weight, hipline, and waistline. On the other hand, there were no changes in the testing group which did not follow the intervention program. The effects of the formed program have been verified.
Potential utilization automatic weighing cattle to evaluation health and nutritious condition of herd.
SMUTNÁ, Šárka
The aim of the dissertation was to develop a methodology for evaluating the health and nutritional status of a dairy herd based on data from an automated liveweight weighing system. A weighing unit in the Astronaut A3 milking robot from Lely was used to obtain dairy cow weight data. Two farms with Holstein dairy cows were selected for monitoring. 55 dairy cows were selected to determine the general equation of the weight curve. The weight curve was divided into 5 significant points. Of the diseases, only ketosis was present on the weight curve. The worked methodology is ready to build an algorithm to program the module for weighing dairy cows.
Philippine measurement as a one of the criterions of maturity for the school attendance (?)
FÜRBACHOVÁ, Gabriela
This thesis presents the Philippine measurement as one of the criteria for school maturity and its dependence on individua) Basic physical dimensions. The Basic physical dimensions of four to eight-year-old children (natural height, height in sitting position, body weight, span of arms) were monitored for the purpose of this thesis. Then, the length of the lower segment of the body was calculated by taking the height in sitting position off the natural height. Some of the measured data were used to calculate indices: the height in sitting position to the natural height, the span of arms to the natural height and the length of the lower segment to the natural height. The data were statistically interpreted and the results put finto tables and graphs accompanied by texts. The data of the Basic physical dimensions and the age in relation to the Philippine measurement are an important part. On the basis of our results and measurements, the age of six is appeared to be a minimum requirement to start school. A more optima) solution would include postponing the age limit by about three to six months back.
Growth of the foot in children aged 6 - 15 years. (Probe to the 6th nationwide anthropological survey of children and adolescents in the Czech Republic 2001.)
PAVLEČKOVÁ, Jana
The thesis is focussed on the issue of the growth and development of children aged 6-15 years in the Czech Republic. Data on children?s growth and development is determined within the framework of nationwide anthropological surveys of children and adolescents. In this case, it is a supplementary probe to the 6th National Anthropological Survey of 2001, which determines 4 bodily dimensions among children: body height, body weight, foot length and foot width. All of the obtained information and data was entered into a questionnaire specially prepared for the 6th NAS. The measured data was then saved, sorted, controlled and statistically processed. Furthermore, the basic bodily dimensions were used to calculated the following indexes: BMI, index of foot length to body height, index of foot width to body height and foot length-to-width index. The results of statistical processing of the measured data were then entered into table and graphs, and compared with literary information.
The effect of nutritional intervention on weight development, development of body composition and dietary changes in obese patients
Lahodová, Klára ; Sadílková, Aneta (advisor) ; Souza Lopes, Kristýna (referee)
Introduction: Despite modern methods of obesity treatment, such as pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery, lifestyle intervention remains a key element of therapy. Changing exercise and dietary habits leading to a negative energy balance is a prerequisite for weight reduction. Undoubtedly, this is a long-term process in which the patient needs the professional supervision of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Dietitians provide the obese patient with individualized dietary recommendations with regard to his or her health and current living conditions. Thus, regular nutritional intervention can contribute to a higher success of the reduction regime. Objectives: The aim of this theses is to find out what effect nutritional intervention has on the development of body weight, body composition and dietary regime in a cohort of obese patients who consulted with a dietitian during 6 months. To compare changes in body weight, a control group of obesity outpatients who were under the care of a physician only and had not attended any consultation with a dietitian or had attended at most one nutritional consultation was selected. Methodology: Data collection took place on III. Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles...

Šindlerová, Hana ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Kovářová, Lenka (referee)
Title: Innovativ ways to affect overweight and obesity (use of the machine Body - Space VacuTherm). Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate if walking on Vacutherme encourages and accelerate body fat loss and figure forming as advertisements claim. Based on my own measurements of the clients of our clinic MS Clinic in Slaný I will examine body weight loss, particularly body fat loss, decrease of centimeters of those areas that are exposed to vacuum and change in body composition. I compare the results of clients enrolled in group used to weight reduction only VacuTherm lesson in the machine, with clients of the second group, which combine lessons in the machine with another physical activity attending at least 2 times a week for longer period of time. Methods: To get results important for bachelor thesis I chose only measurement method. For data processing, this method is most accurate. I used two forms of measurement. With one presentation helped me body analyzer Tanita BC-1000, which provided me with information that can not be measured by conventional methods. The second option is a common way of measuring the circumference of lots tracked to within one centimeter. At work I examine a group of 20 women who underwent diagnostic input on physical analyzer, where they were measured value...
