Effect of structure on mechanical properties of covalent ceramics
Čtvrtlík, Radim ; Kulykovskyy, Valeriy ; Vorlíček, Vladimír ; Boháč, Petr ; Stranyánek, Martin
Mechanical properties of hard amorphous and nanocrystalline films with dominant covalent bonds are nowadays the subject of enhanced interest. Such films can be harder than corresponding bulk material due to peculiarities of structure and numerous growth defects.
Studium plazmatu během pulsní laserové depozice kompozitních vrstev nanokrystalického diamantu/amorfního uhlíku a jejich strukturní vlastnosti
Novotný, Michal ; Jelínek, Miroslav ; Bulíř, Jiří ; Vorlíček, Vladimír ; Mosnier, J.-P. ; Duclére, J.-R. ; Popov, C.
Nanocrystalline diamond/amorphous carbon composite thin films were prepared by hybrid technique combining pulsed laser deposition with a capacitively coupled radiofrequency discharge. Optical emission spectroscopy was performed for plasma monitoring during the deposition process.

Plasma sprayed and in oil electroeroded implant surfaces were studied by various surface analytical techniques including cell adhesion.

We used pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and hybrid PLD (HPLD) techniques for NCD thin films preparation. KrF excimer laser beam (Lumonics, .lambda.=248 nm , 20 ns, 500 mJ) was focused on graphite target with energy density of 4-7 J.cm.sup.- 2./sup.. Films were deposited on sapphire and Si(100) substrates in hydrogen and argon/hydrogen ambient

In this paper, we report on the growth of NCD films by PLD in pure hydrogen ambient and by HPLD in Ar/H.sub.2./sub. ambient. HPLD systems were based on combination of PLD and addiational RF discharges. The deposited films were studied using Alfastep profilometer, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy
