Mapping the influence of the Mediterranean (kosher diet) and traditional Czech diet on the incidence of colorectal cancer

This diploma thesis deals with mapping the influence of the Mediterranean (kosher) diet and the traditional Czech diet on the occurrence of colorectal cancer. The aim of the study was to identify differences between the eating habits of Israelis and Czechs and to assess their potential impact on the development of this type of cancer. The methodology included an analysis of the eating habits of both groups, epidemiological data and a literature review of relevant studies. The results of the study indicate that there are differences between the eating habits of Israelis and Czechs, with the Israeli diet, although influenced by westernization, showing positive tendencies compared to the traditional Czech diet. This observed difference may play a key role in the prevention of colorectal cancer. Despite the fact that Israelis are not strictly limited to the Mediterranean diet, the study highlights its positive effect on reducing the risk of this disease. On the contrary, the negative contribution of the traditional Czech diet underlines the need to improve eating habits in the Czech population. Addiction in people with the spinal cord lesions Questionnaire survey

Background: In Czech Republic, the use of addictive substances in the general population is regularly evaluated. In people with spinal cord lesions, the issue of substance abuse is not sufficiently mapped. Difficulty to get feedback can also play a role in this regard. There are many factors for possible risky behavior in people with spinal cord lesions. In Czech Republic, there are several aftercare facilities that comprehensively address clients with spinal cord lesions. In these facilities, obtaining feedback from this specific group of clients would help get better target interventions and set up other specific services for the monitored subpopulation. Objectives: The main goal of the research was to map the issue of dependence on legal and illegal addictive substances in a group of people with spinal cord injuries after injury or illness. A secondary goal was the feedback from the Centre's clients on whether and how they would use addictology counseling. Need Assessment of Alcohol-dependent Seniors in Medium-term Institutional Treatment

Background: Owing to current demographic trends reflecting an aging population, there is an increase in the group of older individuals facing issues related to alcohol consumption. This group is increasingly seeking assistance within the network of addiction services, including medium-term institutional treatment. Due to the unique physical, emotional, and cognitive characteristics associated with aging seniors and older adults respond differently to treatment compared to younger adults. Currently, healthcare providers often lack sufficient interventions related to treatment and harm reduction for substance use among older adults, addressing a broad-spectrum risk associated with substance use in this age group. Goals: The goal of the thesis is to use needs analysis to determine the needs of older users in medium-term institutional treatment and to assess whether the range of interventions meets these needs. Prevalence of substance use among regular listeners of different music genres: a questionnaire survey

Background: Music is an essential part of human life. Substance use is often associated with music artists, but research has shown that the risk extends to their listeners. Studies show that the genres at risk include rock, pop, techno and rap. Listeners, especially during adolescence, may be influenced by this music and as a result be prone to various types of risky behaviour. Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of substance use among listeners of different music genres, i.e. how substance use differs among listeners of different genres and to what extent they use substances. A further aim was to determine the CAGE screening questionnaire scores designed to assess the riskiness of drinking. Further, the research focused on the prevalence of lifetime dance drug use and subsequently in the nightclub setting. Methods: An online questionnaire inspired by the European Model Questionnaire was used for data collection, which contains a set of questions assessing the prevalence of substance use at lifetime, 12-month and 30-day intervals. Background: The bachelor thesis is based on the author's interest in the interaction between therapists and clients. Exploring the therapeutic alliance allows us to understand better the interactions in therapy and identify areas that may need improvement. This can lead to better therapeutic practice and improved quality of care for clients. Clients with substance use disorders often face complex issues, including problems in interpersonal relationships. The therapeutic alliance can be a key factor in their treatment. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to map the working alliance between therapist and client. The research questions focus on identifying different aspects of the alliance from the perspective of the therapist and client, exploring the similarities or differences in their perceptions of the alliance, and assessing what specific aspects of the alliance are subjectively rated as positive or negative. Methods: A WAI questionnaire supplemented with a semi-structured interview was used for data collection. Both respondents completed the questionnaire twice, six months apart. Attitudes of active smokers, patients of outpatient services, after a stroke towards smoking

Background: "A stroke is a brain disease caused by a sudden vascular supply malfunction" (Růžička, 2019, p. 213) and "nn the Czech Republic, it affects more than 50,000 people every year" (Zámečník et al., 2019, p. 676). Smoking is one of the most common modifiable risk factors of its occurrence. Chemicals in cigarettes are involved in the development of atherosclerosis and other pathologies leading to stroke and heart disease (Kim et al., 2012). Research suggests that even a complex life event, such as a stroke, does not lead to quitting smoking in many patients. This may be related to the low awareness of the population that smoking is a risk factor for stroke despite relatively high awareness of the negative effects of cigarettes in general. The emotional relationship of smokers to smoking is strong and the rationalization of smoking is strong as well. Aim: The aim of the thesis is to find out the attitudes of active smokers after a stroke towards smoking. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. Nutritional interventions for patients with brain injuries and movement limitations

Patients with acquired brain damage, who are attending rehabilitation day-care center on the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the General Hospital and the First Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, are often limited by fatigue and lack of energy. Patients are attending day hospital mainly with brain damage acquired after stroke and less often also after brain trauma. Secondary prevention of atherosclerosis development or progression and prevention of stroke relapse is very important with these patients. Nutritional intervention plays significant role in prevention and treatment of many risk factors of an atherosclerotic artery damage. Common consequence of brain damage is development of secondary sarcopenia. Patient in day hospital must bring their own food. Individualized program as a result from examination by the multidisciplinary team doesn't include nutritional assessment. Study with patients with acquired brain damage was carried out on Department of Rehabilitation. Study used bioelectrical impedance analysis provided by InBody 370 S. The impact of COVID 19 disease on quality of life in women working in health care

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the issue of coronavirus disease. First, the general characteristics of the disease, the major variants of the virus, the epidemiology and symptoms of the disease are described, followed by an introduction of the diagnosis and treatments methods. Information on the importance of vaccination and rehabilitation cannot be omitted. Towards the end of the theoretical part, the impact that the disease can have on the lifestyle of health professionals is presented, in all aspects, from diet to physical activity, stress, sleep, psychological hygiene and mental state. Last but not least, I also describe the post-covida syndrome and the subsequent care of healthcare workers. The practical part of this thesis is concerned with exploring how Covid-19 disease has affected the normal daily activities of women working in healthcare. Whether this period had an effect on weight gain in these women and whether there was a change in laboratory parameters.
