Energy needs and body composition in individuals with transverse spinal cord injury
Pavlíčková, Jana ; Sadílková, Aneta (advisor) ; Staňová, Alžběta (referee)
Introduction Spinal cord injury is associated with negative changes in body composition, glucose and lipid metabolism. This fact is responsible for a higher risk of metabolic complications in patients with a transverse spinal cord lesion (TML). Individuals tend to achieve a positive energy balance, which leads to an increase in adipose tissue, the development of overweight and obesity and other diseases, and last but not least, to the deterioration of self-sufficiency. Setting optimal energy intake is main key to maintain the patient's health and quality of life. Target The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to determine resting energy rate (RMR) in people after a transverse spinal cord injury. The subject of interest is also the comparison of the results with the prediction equation of Harris-Benedict with the indirect calorimetry (NK) method, to determine the body composition and determine the real energy intake of the diet. A control set of healthy individuals without the handicap of a transverse spinal cord lesion was chosen for the comparison of the obtained data. Methodology The research group consists of adults after a transverse spinal cord lesion. There were 26 people included, 11 women and 15 men, clients of the non-profit organization Centrum Paraple, o.p.s. The average age is 40.3 years...
Selecting English choral works with focus on children's and women's choirs
Pavlíčková, Jana ; Tichá, Alena (advisor) ; Stříteská, Leona (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on English repertoire for children's and women's choirs. The initial part deals with development of children's voice. The thesis also includes a survey about the occurrence of English choral works in programmes of elite children's and women's choirs of Czech prestigious choral competitions and festivals (Porta musicae and National festival of school choirs. A chapter describes the development of choral singing on British Isles and introduces contemporary British and Irish authors who write compositions suitable for children's or women's choirs. The crucial part of the thesis is a chart of English choral works. They are classified according to the predetermined criteria (interpretative difficulty, instrumentation/setting, and content/genre). The works come from resources of Czech and Irish libraries, and from the internet. At the end of the thesis, a practically oriented chapter about English pronunciation is included.
Non-traditional Musical Instruments and their Utilization in Music Education Lessons
Pavlíčková, Jana ; Tichá, Alena (advisor) ; Kopřivová, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis Non-traditional Musical Instruments and their Utilization in Music Education Lessons focuses on homemade instruments and common objects and deals with their usage in elementary music activities. The chapter about musical instruments aims to classify the non-traditional instruments and puts them into the context of traditional and children's musical instruments. A Few examples of homemade musical instruments are given. Afterwards, advantages and disadvantages related to production and implementation of handcrafts in education are discussed, while considering various criteria (accessibility, pedagogical, and psychological points of view etc.). An emphasis is put on Orff-pedagogy, which can work as the basis for music education, utilizing non-traditional musical instruments. At the end of the thesis, activities and games developing musical abilities (primarily rhythmic ability) via the use of non-traditional musical instruments are included.

Genetic and clinical aspects of the restless legs syndrome
Pavlíčková, Jana ; Kemlink, David (advisor) ; Seeman, Pavel (referee) ; Martásek, Pavel (referee)
Introduction: The Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a frequent neurological disorder with a prevalence ranging from 5 - 10%. RLS is characterized by an urge to move the lower extremities during the night, thus RLS causes sleep disturbance. It presents as both idiopathic and secondary form. Idiopathic RLS is associated with common genetic variants in MEIS1, BTBD9, PTPRD and MAP2K5/SCOR1. Recently, multiple sclerosis (MS) was identified as a common cause for secondary RLS, the prevalence of RLS in patients with MS ranges from 13.3 to 37.5%. The aim of our study was to analyse the clinical and genetic aspects of this disorder, especially in patients with multiple sclerosis. In the clinical part, we evaluated the prevalence of RLS among Czech patients with MS and we compared the extent of brain damage between patients with and without RLS using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In the genetic part, we further analysed the impact of known genetic variants (MEIS1, BTBD9, MAP2K5/SCOR1, PTPRD) for RLS in other European populations and in patients with MS. Methods: Clinical part: Each patient with MS underwent a semi-structured interview. A patient was considered to be affected by RLS if he/she met all four standard criteria at life- long interval. Lesion load (LL - T2), brain atrophy - T1 and brain...
Stanovení stresové odezvy smrku ztepilého na suché a zamokřené prostředí
Pavlíčková, Jana
The diploma thesis deals with the effects of abiotic stress on seedlings of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karsten), the impact of water deficit and abundance. In the theore-tical part is described the importance of water in plant, stress and its impact on plants and the cultivation of plants in vitro. Experimental part consists of experiments in vitro. Waterlogging conditions were simulated the medium without agar, drought conditions were created by increasing concentration of sucrose and polyethylene glycol. In the course of experiment were measured plant responses to stress, concentration of ethylene, ethane and CO2 in the culture vessels. At the end of the experiment was measured concentration of O2, quantum yield of photosynthesis, plant growth parameters, content of plant pigments in needles and anatomical changes in the stem and root of Norway spruce.
