Older School–Age Children’s Leisure and its Experiencing. Results of the Representative Survey – Czech Republic 2021 (Monitoring Study)

The aim of the study is to present results of the own representative survey How children spend and experience their leisure 2021, which monitor the state of children's leisure at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century. In the begging of the study, the main findings are summarized and the parameters of the research are introduced. Then, the results of a more detailed analyses are presented. At first, these focus on how much leisure children have. Then, two more extensive chapters follow that represent the main parts of the study. They focus on how children spend their leisure and how they experience it. The final part of the study presents selected factors influencing the possibilities and ways of spending leisure: parents' views on children's leisure, household expenses related to children's leisure, satisfaction with the possibilities for spending leisure and perceived barriers.

Strategies of solving problems focusing on area of plane figures in elementary school

The theme of the diploma work are pupil's strategies of solving selected problems focusing on area of plane figures. The theoretical part includes definitions of basic ideas - problem, area, problems of area, solving problems, solving strategies. Plane figures are classified into particular school classes. Every plane figure is presented by examples of types of the problems, which are most common in elementary schools. The practical part of the work begins with the preparation of an experiment, where the objektive of the experiment is introduced, selection of problems for this experiment, description of tested group and the way of getting data. Follows the description of realization of the experiment. It contains three problems of the area of plane figures which were solved by pupils of the eighth and the ninth class. Supposed strategies, expected mistakes and analysis of pupil's solutions are presented. Expected and obtained solving strategies are compared for every problems. Leisure as a Cultural Phenomenon Věra Patočková: Obecná teorie a dějiny umění a kultury - kulturologie PhD Thesis Abstract The main aim of the PhD. thesis is to provide the complex view of leisure from the culture studies perspective. It is expected that leisure behaviour takes always place within the framework of the specific sociocultural system. In accordance with Kelly (1987) an attempt is made to prove that leisure is always in and of its particular culture. The thesis focuses on three main topics. After introductory explanation of the main terms "culture" and "leisure" attention is focused on discussion about their relation. This discussion is based on theoretical analysis of studies that concern of leisure and approach it from the perspective of cultural studies, sociology or anthropology. Value system is an important part of all cultures. Also leisure can be seen as a part of the value system of specific society. After brief introduction to approaches of leisure and work in historical perspective, attention is focused on the explanation of the position of leisure in the value system of the Czech society and its changes. The third part is devoted to leisure in the Czech society, while the Czech society is seen as a specific sociocultural system and attempt is made to explore leisure in a complex way...
Methodology for creation of conceptual documents for culture development and tourism support using participatory approaches

The methodology describes the process of creation of conceptual document for culture. It deals with culture in the complex way so it enables overlapping with other areas of local development. The process of creation of the document is introduced as a part of broader approach of cultural planning. Involvement of local community and application of participatory approach belong to its key attributes. The methodology is primarily intended for small and mid-size towns.

Social and Institutional Conditionality of Culture Development and Cultural Heritage Maintaining in the Regional Setting and its Exploitation for Effective Organisation

The report summarizes the results of the research project Social and Institutional Conditionality of Culture Development and Cultural Heritage Maintaining in the Regional Setting and its Exploitation for Effective Organisation of the Regional Cultural Activities. The main of the project was paid to research on relations between social, economic and political characteristics of the inhabitants and regional cultural distinctiveness; research on relations between characteristics of the institutions supporting or organising cultural activities, public administration particularly, as well as non-profit and private sector organisations, and impact of their activity on culture development, on cultural heritage accessibility and local democracy deepening; research on openness of these institutions toward themselves and toward general public, research on the practices supporting public participation in planning, organisation and realisation of cultural activities. In the last stage of the project, Methodology for creation of conceptual documents for culture development and tourism support using participatory approaches was developed.
Life style after 1989 – changes in leisure spending in the sphere of culture

Trends in selected indicators of leisure activities in the Czech society since beginning 1990´s using results of CVVM surveys and CZO statistics are outlined. Using data from large surveys from 1994 to 2011 (SOÚ), main factors influencing highbrow culture participation are pursued. It is shown that generally socio-demographic characteristics have very slowly weakened. Cultural and social class homology is still present in the Czech society, and convergence of cultural life in rural areas and urban setting has been continuing since 1989. More detailed analysis of social space of lifestyles (for 2011 data) also highlights importance of life cycle and gender.

The general overview of the SSH system in the Czech Republic in 2012 is given, and then the attention is focused on Policy Setting System, Funding System and Performing System all concerning situation in 2012. The report was prepared within framework of Metris, which is a project launched by the European Commission, DG-Research, Directorate L, "Science, Economy and Society" in order to provide an overview of these fields in Europe. The report followed the Metris prescribed structure.

The report summarizes the results of research policies affecting the migration of highly skilled, it indicates an estimated number of Czech scientists and researchers working abroad and presents the results of the analysis of factors influencing the decisions of scientists about the return to the Czech Republic. In conclusion, proposals for measures that could encourage the return of Czech scientists and researchers from abroad to the Czech Republic are presented.
