A Problem of the auteur film as a value-positive concept
Nováková, Denisa ; Zuska, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Hadravová, Tereza (referee)
Bachelor's thesis will aim to point out the concept of the contemporary understanding of auteur film as a positively laden concept, across professional and public discourses, and to problematize the auteur film concerning its definition. Attention will be paid to the origin as defined in the 50s and 60s with the French film magazine Cahiers du Cinema, whose editors were part of the French New Wave cinema. This group of editors and directors stood at the beginnings of the new wave auteur film movement still spreading across Europe. Therefore, my bachelor's thesis will focus as much on the current definition of film authorship while looking for its roots in the times of the first boom in auteur cinematography. My thesis will examine in detail the requirements for the eligibility of the director to become an author (auteur) not only from the point of view of individual editors from Cahiers du Cinema (François Truffaut, André Bazin) but also their predecessor Alexandre Astruc and following theorists (Peter Wollen, Andrew Sarris). Subsequent criticism of the inadequacy of the concept of auteur film by the mentioned film theorists and filmmakers will be supported by a critical article written by Pauline Kael. Afterward, the thesis will show the parallel of using the concept of authorship with the...
The role of topology and chemical composition of zeolites on their biomedical characteristics
Nováková, Denisa ; Grajciar, Lukáš (advisor) ; Rubeš, Miroslav (referee)
7 Abstract Zeolites are traditionally used materials in the petrochemical and chemical industry that have recently drawn attention for their possible utilization in biomedicine as drug and gene carriers, materials in bone tissue engineering, or adsorbents for detoxifying human organisms. Zeolites offer a possible solution for removing protein-binding uremic toxins, such as p-cresol, that are unremovable during classical hemodialysis. This bachelor's thesis focuses on analyzing the motion of water within zeolite with CAN framework topology using molecular dynamics simulations with neural network potentials. The obtained data is used to calculate the self-diffusion coefficients and analyze the effect of water loading, aluminum content, and the distribution of aluminum atoms on water diffusion and degree of deprotonation of Brønsted acid sites (BASs). In addition, the thoroughly tested water-loaded CAN models are used for evaluation of the interaction between the zeolite framework and water molecules and p-cresol in the context of potential application of zeolites for dialysis. Key words zeolites, machine learning, biomedicine, p-cresol, CAN
Interpretations of a negative result of the British parliament vote on military intervention in Syria
Nováková, Denisa ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Rovná, Lenka (referee)
On August 21 2013 a massive chemical attack took place in Syria. On the basis of the attack the British Prime Minister convened parliament and asked the House of Commons for the approval of a military intervention in Syria. The government motion was however disapproved by 285:272 votes and therefore the possible military intervention and the further voting on this issue was blocked. Right after the vote a series of possible causes and consequences occurred. This bachelor thesis "Interpretations of a negative result of the British parliament vote on military intervention in Syria" tries to systematically analyze possible causes and identify the main factors, which contributed to the negative result. Then it tries to justify why Britain as a country with long history of humanitarian intervention refused to intervene in a country where one of the greatest humanitarian crisis of the 21st century takes place. Moreover when a military intervention in Libya took place under the current government. At the same time the bachelor thesis puts an emphasis on the character of the Syrian conflict, British political discourse in the context of a military intervention and experience with foreign-political interventions. Then it also analyses the allocation of seats in the British parliament, current state in a...

Thesis "The characteristics of Jiří Hanák's columns and feuilletons" analyses the columns of one of our eminent columnists. In the first part it attends to the person Jiří Hanák. It presents his personal life and the motives why he became a columnist. The thesis answers the question, where did his interest in history begin. (polistopadová historie) a Jiří Hanák ve sloupcích II. (co to je, když se řekne) and in the journal Právo in 2009. It analyses the columns from the content, language a stylistics angle. In the content part the thesis tries to find the themes, that Hanák wrote about the most often. In the language part the thesis describes the language, that makes his style very peculiar. In the stylistics part the thesis judges, whether Hanák keeps the publicistic style. In the end the thesis summarizes, what is the most often theme of the...

Tolerable risk
Nováková, Denisa ; Vokoun, Rudolf (advisor) ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (referee)
Tolerable risk Abstract The thesis deals with the topic of tolerable risk. Tolerable risk is a type of criminal defense that has first appeared in the Penal Code, Act No. 40/2009 Coll. Today, after almost ten years since the it came into effect, is the time to summarize the practical use of this institute. Chapter One outlines the types of criminal defenses and looks at the position that tolerable risk takes among them. Chapter Two offers a historical viewon the development of tolerable risk as an institute; first showing how it had been inferred from doctrine and then how the final version of tolerable risk, implemented in the Penal Code, was found. Chapter Three analyses the constructional features of tolerable risk; that means the conditions to be met in order to apply this criminal defense. Chapter Four compares tolerable risk with other criminal defenses, both legally defined (self-defense, necessity, consent, legitimate use of the weapon) and also not legally defined (fulfillment of obligation, exercise of entitlement, performance of a profession). Chapters five, six and sevendeal with the most common areas in which tolerable risk is employed. These areas are healthcare (Chapter Five), economy (Chapter Six) and sport (Chapter Seven). These three chapters focus on those components of tolerable risk that...
Poverty as an anthropological problem
NOVÁKOVÁ, Denisa
This thesis aims to point out poverty from several perspectives that are part of human life. The focus of the thesis is not only a problem of poverty in terms of material shortage referred to social policy but also it tries to uncover other possible types of poverty that can threaten human life. A human is from its nature a creature of biological, social, psychological and spiritual components. Therefore, it is defined as a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual being. For this reason, as with other human-related topics, it is not possible to deal with one of these components but data from all these areas need to be used to provide a complete explanation of the issue. The first chapter defines poverty and associated terms. Moreover, it names different approaches to poverty and affected persons. From chapter Two to Five the author specifies particular types of poverty-physical, cultural, relationship, spiritual and mental poverty. In comparison to previous chapters, chapter Six is explaining the state's attitude to poverty and possible measures that can be conducted. The last seventh chapter deals with Christianity and its history of poverty.

Industry 4.0 as an example of a top-down vs. horizontal Europeanization
Nováková, Denisa ; Young, Mitchell (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
Industry 4.0 is a new generation of manufacturing based on robotics, automation and new trends in ICT. It was for the first time introduced at the Hannover Fair in 2011 and has been part of the European, German and Czech discourse since then. This Master thesis deals with the topic of Industry 4.0 in the Czech Republic and assesses to what extent the concept is coming to the Czech Republic as a result of a top-down (EU) or horizontal (Germany) Europeanization. The thesis came to the conclusion that there are two perceptions of Industry 4.0. One is narrow and deals with the industrial policy and the other is broad and deals with society wide implications of the fourth industrial revolution. The debate about Industry 4.0 in the Czech Republic is mainly a result of a horizontal Europeanization based on bilateral agreements and close cooperation between Germany and the Czech Republic in the area of R&D, innovations and business. However, the top-down Europeanization cannot be neglected as the EU provides much broader context where Industry 4.0 is taking place. Moreover, Industry 4.0 gave a new impetus to the digital economy and society in the Czech Republic. It turned into agenda 4.0 and moved forward the debate about digital skills.
