Host immune response in cutaneous versus visceral form of leishmaniasis
Matějková, Barbora ; Leštinová, Tereza (advisor) ; Jelínková, Kristýna (referee)
Parasitic protozoans of the genus Leishmania circulate between vectors and hosts during their life cycle, in which they come into contact with the immune system. In the host body, infection can lead to the development of a disease called leishmaniasis. This can manifest itself in a number of ways, with the best known forms being referred to as visceral, mucocutaneous and cutaneous leishmaniasis. This thesis focuses on the host immune response during the cutaneous and visceral forms of leishmaniasis. In addition, attention has been given to host, vector and parasite factors that differ between cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis forms and that may influence the different clinical manifestations. Attention is paid not only to factors related to immunity, but also to factors such as parasite inoculum dose sizes, temperature differences between skin and internal organs, parasite genetics, and others. Keywords - Leishmania, visceral leishmaniasis, cutaneous leishmaniasis, immune response, parasite, immunity

Sustainable fashion within environmental education
Matějková, Barbora ; Kasíková, Hana (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Daniela (referee)
The Bachelor thesis concerns the problems of fashion industry as a possible topic for the environmental education. After defining the basic termes such as "environmental education" and "sustainable fashion", we introduced project-based learning which is suitable for realisation of "crossing themes". The main aim of this thesis was to create a concrete project about negatives aspects of textil and clothing industry and to present it afterwards at a chosen school. This educational programme should get students interested in this problematic which will be tested afterwards while proposing a realisation of concrete project. It would be about SWAP, when participants exchange their clothing they don't use anymore for clothing they will use. However, the pandemic made it impossible to realize the programme so this thesis propose only the theoretical proposal. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Evaluation of cell adhesion molecules expression in mice aorta in animal model of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.
Matějková, Barbora ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Doleželová, Eva (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Consultant: prof. PharmDr. Petr Nachtigal, Ph.D. Candidate: Barbora Matějková Title of Thesis: Evaluation of Cell Adhesion Molecules Expression in Mice Aorta in Animal Model of Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis Background: The purpose of the thesis was to observe changes in the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in mice aorta endothelium. The study compares results of a group of mice after the administration of a NASH inducing diet and a group of mice fed by a chow diet. Method: Two groups of C57BL/6 mice were used for this experiment. At the age of ten weeks the experimental group was transferred to a NASH inducing diet which contains 40 % of calories from fat and 0.2 % from cholesterol. In addition to this diet, the experimental group was fed by fructose and glucose dissolved in drinking water with the concentration of 42 g/l (called "FFC-type diet" - high saturated fat, high saturated fructose, high saturated cholesterol). This diet lasted for 25 weeks. The control group was fed by a standard diet for rodents (called "chow-type diet"). The obtained samples were analysed by immunohistochemical methods. For ICAM-1, the indirect three-step avidin- biotin complex method was used. VCAM-1 molecules were...
