Dynamics of carbon and phosphorus flows in arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis Mgr. Tereza Konvalinková (doctoral thesis) Abstract Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are widespread and highly specialized root symbionts, which gain all of their carbon (C) from the hosts, supplying plants with mineral nutrients (particularly with phosphorus, P) in return. This thesis focuses on the size and flexibility of C and P flows in arbuscular mycorrhiza in relation to environmental conditions, in particular to light and P availability. The indications that the symbiotic flows are regulated actively by both partners are discussed. The main findings are presented as a compilation of separate scientific works (two research articles, one review and one book section). A glasshouse experiment has shown that both mycorrhizal benefits and mycorrhizal colonization of medic (Medicago truncatula) by an AMF species (R. irregularis) decline along the gradient of decreasing light intensity. Interestingly, morphological adaptation of medic to the long-term light deprivation was boosted by mycorrhiza, probably because of C demand of AMF and due to the improved nutrition of the mycorrhizal plants. Interactions of microscopic fungi and testate amoebae in Norway spruce litter

Both testate amoebae and fungi are common inhabitants of coniferous litter. Their interactions in this environment were rarely studied, although they reach high biodiversity and can play a significant role in nutrient cycling in this environment. In this study, a cultivation of litter needles in the damp chambers was used to investigate interactions between fungi and testate amoebae. Observation of spruce litter needles in environmental scanning electron microscope was used to better characterize testate amoebae communities directly on the needles. Additionally, two experiments changing the biotic conditions in the microcosm were used to follow a principle of the interactions. Three species of testate amoebae from litter needles were able to colonize the filter paper on the bottom of the damp chambers. Occurrence of Phryganella acropodia and Assulina muscorum on the filter paper was significantly fuelled by the presence of mycelium. Assulina muscorum was associated with the fungal spores and Arcella discoides was attracted by sporulating colonies of Cladosporium spp. in the damp chambers. The umgebindehaus in the north Bohemia

This Diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the Umgebinde houses in the North Bohemia. The Umgebinde house is a unique architectural form of the vernacular house, which appears only in the definite area of the border region between the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. This thesis is based on a large, multiannual field research. The research was grounded on studying of scientific literature, archival sources or historical photo-documentation. In addition to documenting and describing the present situation in situ, the thesis is handling the origin, development, construction parameters or exterior and interior of the Umgebinde house and their regional spread.

94 THESIS TITLE LAND CONSOLIDATION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION RESUME The aim of my thesis is a partial analysis of the relationship amongst land consolidation process, reinstatement of private property after 1990, environment and private property constitutional protection. The process of land consolidation is a special tool, which helps to create preconditions for rational land keeping. The special legal statutes (mainly law No. 139/2002 Sb.) that regulate the land consolidation in the Czech Republic, creates a framework for these operations. The thesis includes a land consolidation historical overview, which is the key to the understanding of the land consolidation consequences for private property and relating landscape changes. The next chapter depicts the land consolidation importance, in the process of post communist private land property transformation in the 1990's. This further outlines the most important changes of the new land consolidation law, which came into force on 1st January 2003 (statute no. 139/2002 Sb.). Motivation and Stimulation of the Employees

Diploma thesis clarifies issues of motivation and stimulation of employees. The theoretical part describes the basic concepts of the issue as motivation, stimulation, human resources management, communication and life situations that may arise in social work. The empirical part was examined on the basis of an anonymous questionnaire for employees in social services and interviews with executives. The main goal of the questionnaire was to find out how the employees in social services are motivated to do their work and how much they are affected by external incentives. The interview should provide a preview of executives and complete the whole topic. The group of the respondents were the employees of the home for the elderly in Libina, which provides social services to the elderly and persons with various types of dementia. The results and recommendations are given at the end of the thesis.
