Allelopathy of aquatic plants and its possible application to control cyanobacterial blooms
Kolářová, Anna ; Jandová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kučerová, Andrea (referee)
The excessive growth of phytoplankton and the development of water bloom leading to the damage to aquatic ecosystems are becoming a more and more frequent problem. There are many methods to control the water bloom from which mainly those that use interactions of living organisms have been developing lately, with the utilisation of aquatic plant allelopathy being one of them. Allelopathy is a type of relationship between two organisms when one of them influences the other by secreting allelopathically active compounds in the environment. However, the effect of these secondary metabolites depends on many biotic and abiotic factors, which also has consequences for their potential use to control the water bloom. Although the results of many studies suggest that allelopathy can affect the community of phytoplankton, its role in aquatic ecosystems is still unclear. This thesis summarizes the knowledge about the occurrence of allelopathy among aquatic organisms, the modes of action of allelochemicals and the impacts of the key factors influencing the allelopathic effect. At the same time, it evaluates the prospects of using the allelopathy of aquatic plants to control water bloom and reviews experimental approaches to studying allelopathic interactions.
Mandatory rules in the international commercial relations
Kolářová, Anna Anežka ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Pfeiffer, Magdalena (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to define the cathegory of peremptory rules in private international law and to describe their specific use in the commercial domain compared to business to consumer contractual relations. The reason for my research was my concern for the conflict between the formal possibility to conclude a contract and the actual enforceability of the contractual claims before a court or before alternative dispute resolution bodies in the domain of private international law. A major part of the thesis uses an analytical approach and a grammatical, teleological and logical interpretation of the mentioned legal instruments. The final part is grounded on the legal comparation of several laws across different countries and thus demonstrating how different approaches to peremtory rules may influence the actual interpetation of various legal relations and the contractual liberty in general. The thesis is composed of four chapters and a conclusion. To begin with, the first chapter focuses on the peremptory rules in international commercial relations as a whole. It aims to define the core notion of the peremptory rules. It also reals with a personal and material scope of the thesis - the particularities of commercial relations. Furthermore, the second chapter examines the application of the...
Female coping strategies with anger
Kolářová, Anna ; Štětovská, Iva (advisor) ; Junková, Vendula (referee)
This thesis focuses on anger coping strategies, with emphasis on experiencing and expressing anger by women. First part surveys theoretical resources, especially anger in cultural framework and connection between anger coping and health. Based on theoretical background, BARQ questionnaire (Linden et. al.) and Czech version of STAXI (Stuchlíková, Man, Spielberger 1994, 2003), we designed a pilot questionnaire ANDO. Our goal was to design a questionnaire with better ability to register unhealthy anger coping mechanisms and gender differences. Using factor and cluster analysis, we established 9 subscales of strategies for coping with anger (4 of them are measuring anger coping strategies considered unhealthy) and derived preliminary standards for the questionnaire (n=212). By the means of ANDO questionnaire we measured differences and relationship between two generations of Czech women. Our sample consisted of pairs of mothers and daughters (nm=41, nd=41). We wanted to verify, whether the change of social climate in Czech Republic influenced female anger coping strategies. And also if there is a connection between mothers and daughters anger coping style. We found, that mothers incline to anger-avoiding strategy more than daughters (p<0,01). On the other hand daughters tend to use the support-seeking strategy...
Manipulation of physical environment and cognition in primates: Ontogenetic development
Kolářová, Anna ; Nekovářová, Tereza (advisor) ; Hradec, Michal (referee)
Cognition is a crucial factor for primates as it allows properly perceive and respond to the surrounding environment. This thesis is devoted to cognitive phenomena, which are often associated with understanding the physical environment and object manipulation. Much attention is focused on causal reasoning, object permanence and tool using. Particular emphasis is placed on the ontogenesis of these cognitive abilities. One of the main questions is how development differs between humans and non-human primates. Despite the fact that non- human primates, just like humans, have a very complex knowledge of the laws of the physical environment, causal reasoning and object permanence develops in a very similar way for these related species, but far from the same way. A large disparity is observed mainly in the area of the pace of development. Tool use in humans and non-human primates is strongly influenced by social learning and traditions. Key words: primates, physical environment, cognitive abilities, causal reasoning, object permanence, object manipulation, tool using, ontogeny
Folklorism after 1948 on the example of Strakonice
Kolářová, Anna ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor) ; Randák, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to explore the role of a phenomenon of the "Strakonice bagpiper" in constructing of local identity of Strakonice. It uses two main perspectives to achieve this goal: the first one is the changing role of the folk culture under socialism, demonstrated on the example of activities of the Prácheň Ensemble from Strakonice between 1949 and 1989; the second one are the celebrations of 600th anniversary of Strakonice in 1967, that enable to observe the bagpiper (in relation to other symbols) during the process of construction of local identity. A preceding chapter summarizes the institutionalization and of the folklore movement in the given period and current research regarding the movement. The thesis uses articles in regional newspapers, annuals of the Ensemble and a documentation of the Ensemble and the anniversary deposited in the Strakonice District Archive. The thesis presents the possibilities of a political use of the folklore movement in a local context. Keywords: folklore movement, Strakonice, bagpipers, identity, regional history
