Planning Solar Array Operations on the ISS

This work focuses on the problem of planning solar array operations on the International Space Station. The goal is to find a viable orientation for ten joints which attach panels to the station. These orientations and modes must satisfy various constraints and the final schedule should also take into account certain preferences. This is a task suitable for automated planning and scheduling, but new technologies are gaining very slowly in the field of the human spaceflights. In this work we will analyze the current solution of this problem and then we will propose a new algorithm that will exploit techniques of automated planning and scheduling. In the contrast with the original greedy algorithm, the suggested algorithm initially finds any solution and then tries to improve it by optimazing partial objective functions. Identification of Terpenoid Resins in Artworks by Gas Chromatography

Terpenoic varnishes are used in artworks since 11th century. Their task is to protect the artworks against the adverse effects of the environment and frequently they complete the artistic page. Although synthetic varnishes are currently widely used, especially in the case of modern art, the use of natural materials is still widespread and not only in the restoration of historical paintings and polychromy. In order to prepare terpenoic varnishes, rich supply of natural resins is used (damare, mastic, copals, colophony etc.). These resins differ in their composition and therefore they have various physical properties such as fragility, solubility, and not least the various darkening of varnish. For these reasons, it is necessary to know their composition, in order to be safely removed during restoration and subsequently replaced by a varnish of the same material composition. Gas chromatography is the most widely used analytical method for determination of natural resins, using a number of derivatizing reagents. The task of this thesis was to find the best separation conditions for the identification of resins by gas chromatography combined with flame ionization detector (GC-FID).

The change of Luxembourg's foreign policy

Bachelor thesis "The change of Luxembourg's foreign policy" focuses on contemporary foreign policy of Luxembourg. The state of flux of Luxembourg's foreign policy is visible from the second half of the twentieth century, occurring at the present time as well. Past far- reaching changes of the world sphere were in the background of prevailing part of changes in external Luxembourg's priorities. The current alteration of Luxembourg's foreign policy illustrates the presented relation as Luxembourg's external priorities adapt to the changing global stage. Luxembourg decided to directly come down to the process of European integration in the time of the beginning of European Community in post-war Europe, which provided the opportunity to become an important European centre. In the present time, Luxembourg's foreign policy concentrates apart from other things on remote world regions of Arabian Peninsula and south- eastern Asia. This bachelor thesis is firstly devoted to illustrate the past approximation of Luxembourg's foreign policy towards Western Europe as well as to present the position of Luxembourg in Europe. Geographical aspects of the security of International Security Assistance Forces's projects in Afghanistan

The thesis is dedicated to the ISAF's Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Afghanistan. The research focus of this study is the analysis of specific geographic factors related to location of selected reconstruction teams in Afghan provinces. Geographic factors affecting security consist of armed groups, warlords, ethno-cultural structure of population and terrain type of the areas examined. Structure, investments, prevailing priorities and effect of local area characteristics are analysed in connection with selected provincial reconstruction teams. The study aims to determine whether teams managed to stabilize the situation in their provinces and which geographic factors affected the safety of their activities.

Cardiac ischemic tolerance of hypertensive rats

The aim of this thesis is to summarize current knowledge about the influence of the ischemic- reperfusion injury at the myocard of hypertensive subjects. First part of this thesis is focused on the description of ischemia, reperfusion and changes in the myocardial metabolism during these processes. These changes in the myocardial metabolism are for example necrosis or apoptosis of the myocardial cells. The second part describes the currently known cardioprotective phenomena. This part also compares their effects. The signalization of preconditioning, the second window of preconditioning and the postconditioning are described here in more details. Third part is focused on the description of the risk factors connected to the ICHS and hypertension. It describes also classes of hypertension, clinical and experimental methods of hypertension treatment, description of the laboratory breeds of hypertensive rats. In the last part of this thesis I describe the influence of hypertension on the I-R injury in current laboratory studies. In the most studies spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were used. RNA tertiary structure prediction using multiple templates

In this thesis we will further develop the algorithm of homologous prediction of tertiary RNA structure. The algorithm was originally created and implemented in my bachelor thesis. We will focus on further automatization of algorithm implementation and we are going to make it easier to use. The user will be able to predict tertiary structure of RNA based only on target structure sequence. The algorithm will be also extended to use multiple template structures for prediction and it will be able to firstly predict the secondary structure of the target molecule. Both of these modifications should lead to more precise prediction by restricting the search space and reducing the size of unconserved regions of the predicted structure.

Legal regulation of air quality protection

Legal Regulation of Air Quality Protection Abstract This diploma thesis provides an overview of the legislation on air quality in the Czech Republic with a focus on the regulation in the Act No. 201/2012 Coll., on air protection including a detailed analysis of some problematic aspects and current issues. Air pollution is the actual global issue that is discussed not only in the Czech Republic but also all over the world, mainly because of the harmful effects on human health and the environment. This paper is organized as follows. The introductory chapter defines the necessary terms, which are essential to the following text of the paper. This chapter also describes the distribution of air pollutant sources and the importance of this distribution for subsequent obligations. The next chapter provides an overview of the historical development of Czech, international and European air quality legislation following by chapters, where the individual types of regulatory instruments to reduce air pollution are analyzed. The chapter on conceptual instruments mainly focuses on the National Emission Reduction Programme of the Czech Republic and an Air Quality Improvement Programs, including an analysis of the changes brought by the amendment to the Air Protection Act implemented by Act No. 172/2018 Coll. Mathematics textbooks for secondary schools from the point of view of beginning teachers

The aim of this thesis is to identify differences among Mathematics textbooks and to find out how they work in real education process. This research will provide information whether such textbooks are actually used by Maths teachers, and if so, then in what manner and how effectively. This will be viewed from the perspective of a teacher-beginner who searches for the most appropriate textbook for Mathematics lessons. Another goal is to introduce the offer of various Maths textbooks for the 2nd stage of basic schools. Also, there is a research performed that could compare these books, especially books published by Prometheus, Fraus and H-mat. Results of the research will be then used for lesson plans of a beginning teacher.
