Teachers' attitudes towards the use of the name Czechia
Lambert, Filip ; Jelen, Jakub (advisor) ; Chromý, Pavel (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the attitudes of teachers at primary and secondary schools, whether they know the difference between a geographical and a political name. The main goal of the work is to find out if teachers use the geographical names Czechia / Czechia in teaching, or for what reasons they prefer the political name, and if these reasons are relevant. The work also deals with the historical context of names over the last hundred years with an insight into the beginnings of the use of geographical names. The work primarily examines current events in the media and on the political scene. The research was conducted with the help of a questionnaire survey, to which 124 respondents responded. It was found that the majority of geography teachers use geographical names in their teaching, while the results were more balanced for teachers of other qualifications. Furthermore, it was found that respondents rejecting short names do not have any relevant reasons for not using them, but limit themselves to the dichotomy of subjective feelings, whether they like the name or not.

Materna, Kryštof ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Szczyrba, Zdeněk (referee) ; Toušek, Václav (referee)
This paper aims to contribute to the debate on the importance of local and regional context on the impact of global processes by using the European brewing industry as a case study. The brewing industry has been fundamentally affected by global changes over the last 30 years. At the same time, beer is a product that has been historically linked to its place of production, and consumers are both sensitive to any changes and can influence impact of possible changes through their consumers' behaviour. The research focuses on the impacts of globalization on the brewing industry and breweries in Europe in terms of the presence of transnational brewing companies on the markets of European countries, the concentration and relocation of the beer production and the unification of the beer supply. Moreover, it studies the glocalization and neolocalism processes shaping the emergence of the phenomenon of the establishment of microbreweries and its spread in space. Glocalization is understood here as a phenomenon in which local initiatives also use the opportunities provided by the globalization to succeed, while neolocalism is understood as a phenomenon of the return of demand for local products as an alternative to the overly strong supply-side effects of the globalization. The first aim of this thesis is...
Changing in Place Identity of Two Working-Class Neighbourhoods in Kladno since the mid-20th Century: Podprůhon & Nové Kladno
Čermák, Adam ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis focuses on the place identity of two working-class neighbourhoods in Kladno since the mid-20th century. It describes the historical development of all neighbourhoods in Kladno, but it analyses Podprůhon and Nové Kladno as prototypical examples. Although the two are close to each other, they have developed differently: Nové Kladno was transformed into a housing estate; Pod- průhon was left to its natural, gradual development. An essential part is a qualitative and quantita- tive research. It studies the people's relationship to both localities, the first impression of them, and whether the conclusions differ according to the respondents' ages. It exploits interviews with resi- dents and questionnaire survey with non-residents. The results are put in context with plans and artistic works, allowing for a detailed description of the identity of both localities. Nové Kladno has lost its identity due to its transformation and has not yet built a new one, while Podprůhon has re- tained its identity despite becoming an excluded locality in the 1980s. As there are many neigh- bourhoods with similar developments in Czechia since the mid-20th century, the interpretations from this thesis can be generalised as case studies of the industrial heritage transformations not only in Kladno.
