Confronting of transport-geographic and socio-geographic regionalizations of Slovakia on example of Bratislava mezo-region
Farkaš, Rastislav ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
ABSRACT The Bachelor thesis devotes to confrontation created transport-geographic and socio- geographic regionalization of Bratislava mezo-region with existing administrative and socio- geographic regionalization of Slovakia. The introductory chapter describes different regionalization approaches, and balances different regionalizations of Slovakia, in which base defines the research questions for the Bratislava mezo-region transport-geographic regionalization analysis. In the next part of the thesis author's transport-geographical regionalization methodology based on transport gradient and public transport operation analysis and partially resembling to socio-geographical regionalization approaches is described. The methodology is then applied into the definition of transport-micro-region in the Bratislava hinterland. The defined transport-micro-region is confronted with the existing socio-geographic regionalization of Slovakia and currently existing administrative hierarchy. The final chapter presents the main transport operations influencing factors including a discussion of the individual factors impact determining discrepancy between each regionalization. KEY WORDS Region, regionalization, transport-geographical regionalization, public transport, public transport operation, transport gradient, Slovakia,...
Evaluation of Freight Railway Transport Importance Case Study the Královéhradecký Region
Kasper, Tomáš ; Květoň, Viktor (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
To move freight transport from overloaded roads to railway is a frequently discussed topic. In this paper we focused on the evaluation of the importance of rail freight, our example was the Královéhradecký region. In the paper we judge if the evaluation of the rail freight will be higher in regions with worse road locations and conditions. Attention will be also focused on position of the rail freight with the growing size of regions. Another view of this paper is the evaluation of importance of the rail freight with growing quantilies and structures of companies with discussing other factors which may affect importance of rail freight. Key words: transport, railway, freight
Park and Ride System (P+R) in Prague
Fenclová, Veronika ; Vondráčková, Petra (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
The thesis concerns the traffic in Prague. It targets the potentialities of short-term parking on the city outskirts, on metro and train stations, and summarizes the conditions for people who combine personal and public transport in their commuting. The central part of the thesis focuses on the park and ride (P+R) scheme, and their location and availability. The bike and ride (B+R) and kiss and ride (K+R) systems are regarded as well. A questionnaire, carried out with respondents who regularly commute to Prague for employment or education, is evaluated. It comes out clearly that awareness of parking possibilities on the outskirts of Prague is low. And even if a respondent is aware of the possibilities, then the system is usually not used, for reasons that are summarized in the evaluation of the questionnaire. The goal of the thesis is to inform about P+R system and to highlight its shortcomings, which have been either deduced from the questionnaire or derived from P+R usage data. Keywords: system P+R, parking, commuting by car, Prague
Modeling spatial interactions on the example of the regional cities
Zelenka, Jaroslav ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
Management and planning of transportation is becoming more important in terms of continuously growing intensity of spatial interactions, which are still mostly realized through transport networks. That's why we can deal with this specific problem of transportation geography using for example spatial interactions modeling. The general aim of the thesis is modeling of spatial interactions and their subsequent comparison with real flows by using calibration in order to predicate the future value of flows taking the planned changes in the transport network in consideration. The main tool used to achieve the goal of the thesis is the gravity model which was applied on the example of regional capitals in the Czech Republic. Based on accomplishments we may say, that centers with lower significance of monitored relations are characterized by further location towards most centers, small number of inhabitants, low intensity of model interactions and lower values of transport intensities with neighboring centers. With the center growth itself, its range of interactions with other centers grows as well. Key Words: spatial interactions modeling, gravity model, model interaction, transport intensity, regional capitals
Changes of Air Transportation in USA after Market Deregulation
Škrko, Michal ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the air transportation and its growth after deregulation in 1978 as an example of the United States of America. The aim is to determine the impact of deregulation on the development of the US airports and to change their order of number of passengers. Markets of low-cost carriers are addressed in the period immediately after deregulation and after those terroristic attacks of September 11. The thesis includes comparison of air transport models point-to-point and hub-and-spoke. It has been demonstrated that low-cost carriers use point-to-point system while traditional airlines use hub-and-spoke networks with system of hub airports whose creating is also described in thesis. Keywords: air transportation - deregulation - point-to-point - hub-and-spoke - low-cost carriers - USA - September 11
Long-distance Public Transportation Planning: the Case Study of Slovakia
Farkaš, Rastislav ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
ABSRACT The diploma thesis deals with analysis the public transportation planning environment with focus in planning of public transport network service. In the introductory chapter there are shown and described different methods of public transport network planning and analysed influencing factors. Consequently the thesis examines the institutional framework as the principal factor and analyses contemporary Slovak public transportation legislative. Following the analyses are the first results and the suggestions of modifications presented. In the next part authors alternate method of public transport network rationalisation is shown. Despite traditional planning attitudes the thesis integrates into the issue also question of time geography. In the author methodology there are vast qualitative parameters defined. The parameters dealt with the system and also with the number of operated station and tracks. The methodology is consequently presented at the case study of Slovak long-distance public transport service. KEY WORDS Public transportation, Public transportation service, transportation planning, institutional influences, transport integration, Slovakia.
Changes in transport behavior and modal-choice by students on the route from České Budějovice to Prague
Hornych, Lukáš ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
This thesis aims to modal-choice and changes of transport behaviour, especially for students on the route from Praha to České Budějovice. The route is chosen due to expanding of the highway and to newly introduced bus and train services. The category of the students is interesting terms to limited options in the context of finances in relation to employees. The comparison of the preferences of these groups is the goal of the thesis. The goal verification has been completed by quantitative and qualitative research by questionnaire. The questionnaire for employees was created by Public opinion research centre, while the questionnaire for the students was created specifically by the author of the thesis. Contrary to the original assumptions, the thesis found that students prefer travel time ahead of the price and employees prefer flexibility ahead of the travel time. The goal of this thesis is determination of meaning chosen factors in modal-choice and monitoring differences of these factors between employees and students. Further, the thesis evaluate competitiveness each of transport modes on the chosen route. Keywords: modal-choice, transport behaviour, public transport

Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, Department of Commercial Law Dissertation topic: European Order for Payment and European Small Claims Procedure Author: Mgr. Ing. Jakub E. Chmelík, LL.M. June 2010 1 General Overview The topic of my dissertation work is European Order for Payment and European Small Claims Procedure. In particular, I examine two European regulations relating to European private international law: (i) Regulation (EC) No 1896/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2006 creating a European order for payment procedure and (ii) Regulation (EC) No 861/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 July 2007 establishing a European Small Claims Procedure. An older Czech translation of the term "European Small Claims Procedure" (Evropské řízení o drobných pohledávkách) essentially corresponds to the current official Czech translation (Evropské řízení o drobných nárocích). 2 Aim, Structure and Content The aim of my research is to analyze the legal provision of the European order for payment and the European small claims procedure. As a part of this analysis, I also attempt to describe the key correlations between these two regulations and Czech civil procedure regulations. Another aim of my research is to compare European regulation with...
