Differentiation of commercial suburbanization in Plzeň and Olomouc metropolitan areas

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the development of commercial suburbanization in Pilsen and Olomouc metropolitan areas between 1990 and 2018. The research of differentiation of commercial suburbanization was based on spatial data analysis, obtained from Corine Land Cover database, data from the Urban Atlas database was added in the time period 2006 - 2012. Change areas were extracted from databases within the areas of interest. Spatial data containing information about the area extent and period of origin, they were subsequently supplemented with the type of functional use (land-use). The comparison of metropolitan areas was based on the results of the analysis. The analysis showed that the main difference within the development of commercial suburbanization in the selected metropolitan areas was in the structure of functional categories. Then, there was a difference in development rate of commercial suburbanization and also in spatial distribution of commercial suburbanization within the metropolitan areas. The structure- based difference could to a certain degree be interpreted by different macro-location within the Czech Republic. Interactions of developers and mayors of suburban municipalities in hinterland of Prague

This master's thesis is devoted to the character of the interaction and negotiation about residential development between the municipality representatives and development companies, the key players in the suburban development. As the geographical area for the research were chosen selected municipalities in north-east hinterland of Prague. The theoretical part summarizes the institutional approach, residential suburbanization, spatial planning and the residential development. The practical part consists of the research itself. It was done as the qualitative analysis of the semi-structured interviews with the municipality representatives and development companies. The interviews are then evaluated on the basis of the theoretical thematic analysis. The interaction between developers and mayors is quite complicated because it represents the conflict of private and public interests. This leads to further negotiations. The character of the interaction and also the negotiations are more or less formed by various circumstances. In this thesis have been distinguished four types of interactions. These types differs in the conditions and requirements determination by the mayors and its fulfillment by the development companies. Residential suburbanization in Kladno district: change of social environment

Since the second half of the 1990s a residential suburbanization process has occurred in the Czechia. Within the process residents move from cities to municipalities that are located in their outskirts. The general aim of the thesis is to evaluate the social environment in Kladno district which is change just as a consequence of the residential suburbanization process. Within the general aim, the thesis sets out three partial objectives: To characterize the process of residential suburbanization in Kladno district, to evaluate changes in the socio- spatial structure of Kladno district with the main focus on the suburban municipalities, and to evaluate the social environment in the selected suburban municipality in Kladno district. There are quantitative methods used in the work. To accomplish the first and second partial objectives is used the analysis of statistical data from Czech Statistical Office. To accomplish the third partial objective is used a questionnaire survey, which investigate how respondents interact with native and new residents and how they engage in social and political life in Buštěhrad. Residential change and gentrification process: the case of Holešovice in Prague

Holešovice, Prague inner city district, currently undergoes a transformation which resembles the gentrification process. However, gentrification has not yet been empirically proven. Gentrification is characterised by the renovation of existing housing stock, increasing social status related to immigration of new residents, and displacement of original inhabitants. This thesis focuses on the residential change of Holešovice neighbourhood from 2001 till present. It aims to identify areas undergoing gentrification and to detect other processes of residential change. The analysis uses housing stock, population and migration quantitative data together with interviews with local actors. Firstly, the changes of physical and socio-spatial structure are observed on the neighbourhood level. Secondly, various trajectories of residential change are identified on the level of statistical units. Life in suburbia through the lens of its inhabitants: case study of a municipality in the hinterland of České Budějovice

The bachelor thesis is focused on study of residential satisfaction in the suburban zone of the city České Budějovice, where one of the biggest suburbanisation effects in Czechia are described. Survey method is used to investigate the level of residential satisfaction in the specific location of suburban zone of České Budějovice. As the case locality was chosen municipality Srubec, one of the biggest suburbs in České Budějovice hinterland. The main goal is to find people's level of residential satisfaction and describe which factors have the biggest influence on residential satisfaction in the locality and which factors have positive or negative influence on the satisfaction of the residents. The survey results show that people evaluate their life conditions in the examined locality very positively. The access to the core city and the nature are considered to be the biggest positives. Gentrification of Karlin district. Current status of physical environment and sociodemographic and economic development after 2002

The aim of the thesis is to find out if then Prague quarter of Karlin has been under the process of gentrification recently. Karlin is an inner city and has been going through dynamic changes in the last thirteen years. This is not only because of post-socialist transformation but the regeneration was also accelerated by dealing with the consequences of the flood in 2002. Different census areas of Karlin are classified into three categories according to the degree of gentrification: gentrified, ungentrified and below average areas. The research is based on the results summarizing a field research which determined physical condition of the houses, the result of analyses of ownership and price levels of Karlin houses and the development of sociodemographic and economic structure. Regional differentiation of demografic ageing and amenities in residential care services for seniors in the Czech Republic

The main objective of the thesis is regional differentiation of demographic aging and amenities in residential care services for seniors at the level of municipalities with extended powers. The age composition of the population in a given territory is a significant determinant of the need for individual types of social services, while the demand for these services is affected by many factors that are discussed in this paper. The findings of the analysis should lead to the identification of regional disparities in terms of location of seniors and the capacity of selected residential social care service and also to detect spatial patterns of these two thematic areas.
