The Effect of Socio-Demographic Factors on Consumer Trends in the Czech Republic
Čechová, Tereza ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Kolář, Daniel (referee)
The thesis examines the potential effects of various socio-demographic determinants on consumer trends in the Czech market over the years 2009- 2019. We use data from the agency Median, s.r.o., which has been researching consumer behavior since 1993. This work analyzes dependent categorical variables that define potential consumer trends and represent answers of respondents or households. We utilized an ordinal logistic regression for the analysis, which we subsequently tested by Brant's test. Statistically significant results from the models are similar to the results in previous studies. Specifically, during the years 2009-2019, the interest in recycling increases, people tend to buy organic food more often, and spending on Czech products decreases slightly (especially in 2018 and 2019), and people tend to spend more money on vacation. For example, the bachelor thesis shows that women have a greater tendency to buy organic products and Czech food than men and, at the same time, recycle more often than men. Furthermore, new variables are examined in regards to observed trends. Such variables are the number of persons employed in the household and the ABCDE classification. Overall, the main contributions of this thesis are Czech consumer preferences and trends over eleven years and detailed...

Šulcová, Iva ; Broklová, Lada (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Background: The phenomenon - mothers, alcohol users is increasingly relevant, the specificity of the female group in the drug scene is given by problems associated with pregnancy and motherhood, different biological factors compared to men, the issue of child care. Among other things, the use of addictive substances by mothers endangers the upbringing of the child, thanks to which mothers often come into contact with OSPOD due to various factors, and cooperation with this institution is a necessity. The question therefore arises as to how the OSPOD cooperates with the mother - an alcohol user and what are the effects on alcohol consumption by these mothers. The aim of this work is to find out how women got into the care of OSPOD and what effect has women's awareness of the conditions of supervision on their alcohol consumption. Methods: Data were obtained through a semi-structured interview, the respondents were clients of the outpatient program. Elements of grounded theory were used for data analysis. Results: Based on the testimonials of the respondents, it was found that the most common circumstances that put women in OSPOD care were quarrels and subsequent expulsion from the partner's / husband's apartment, as well as reporting to the OSPOD partner / family member for substance use before the...
Assessmen of clients' satisfaction with the services of the contact and advisory center Stage 5
Smetanová, Simona ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Broklová, Lada (referee)
Background: Analysis of client satisfaction with contact center services is one of the important tools for obtaining feedback on the contact center services offered and on interventions by employees. The diploma thesis deals with the interventions offered by the Stage 5 contact center and how it is evaluated by its clients. According to the annual report of Progressive o.p.s. the number of clients in contact is increasing every year and their needs can be expected to change over time. However, we often lack feedback from these service users to think about specific adjustments to existing services. Aims: The aim of the research is to obtain a so-called "consumer" view from the centre's clients. More specifically, to obtain information about their satisfaction with the range of services they use. Based on the respondents' answers, consider or suggest how individual interventions could be improved or new ones proposed. Through research questions, I also focus on the time flexibility of individual interventions in the use of clients. Research set: The research set coincides with the primary target group of the contact center. They are problematic and often long-term users of addictive substances that meet the EMCDDA definition (person using heroin and other opiates, cocaine, amphetamine,...
The Impact of Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund on Convergence: The Case of Slovak Districts
Kotrč, Michal ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee)
Do Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund contribute to the improvement of economic performance across Slovak districts? In order to answer the question this thesis explores the impact of EU funds invested within specific operational programmes over the programming periods 2007-2013 and 2014-2020 on the decrease in unemployment rate and on the increase in real wage and employment rate. Besides the standard panel data regression technique we also apply a spatial autoregressive model due to the presence of spillover effects between regions. This thesis thus goes beyond the existing literature on the evaluation of the impact of EU funds in Slovakia as it incorporates spatial effects in the analysis. In comparison with the results of the baseline fixed effects model, the estimated impact of EU funds in the spatial autoregressive model is smaller and in certain cases even negative. Hence the results raise doubts about the efficiency of EU funds. Furthermore, after including the spatial effects we find that the existence and significance of the economic convergence across Slovakia depends not only on the chosen economic indicator but also on the specification of regional units.
The Effect of Exogenous Revenue Shocks on Local Public Spending: The Case of Czech Municipalites
Hrtková, Andrea ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Švarcová, Natálie (referee)
This thesis is devoted to an analysis of the impact of exogenous revenue shocks, both positive and negative, on spending in the Czech municipalities. A closer look is also taken into the different reactions of different political affiliations of the mayors to changes in tax revenues. Although there have been written several studies which have focused on reactions of shocks to revenues on local public spending, our research should serve as a starting point in completing existing gaps in this field of study in the Czech Republic. Empirical methods involving the use of dynamic panel data were applied to test the hypotheses. This research shows that changes in tax revenues have a significant impact on the expenditures of the Czech municipalities. However, the results indicate that the extent and direction of this impact differ across different types of expenditures. Keywords Municipalities, exogenous revenue shocks, fiscal stress, tax revenues, current expenditures, capital expenditures, political affiliation
Identifying driving factors of coffee prices
Gajdušková, Karolína ; Pleticha, Petr (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the price of coffee and the factors affecting it. The study aims to identify these factors to predict price movement. This thesis also answers the question whether the factors observed have the same impact on two coffee varieties: arabica and robusta. There were defined five groups of the factors: supply, demand, climate, commodity market and financial. The effect is observed for annual coffee price data that were obtained from the International Coffee Organization (ICO). The observed period is between 1965 and 2018. The impact of the factors was detected by the ARDL regression, both in the short run and the long run. Based on the results, the price is affected mostly by supply, demand, and financial factors. Moreover, robusta's price specifically is driven mainly by the factors explaining the power of the US dollar. Arabica's price, on the other hand, is affected by the supply and demand factors: exports, and the growth of GDP. This finding supports the claim that these two coffee varieties should be considered as two different commodities. The results suggest that the establishment of an association of the biggest coffee producers regulating coffee exports would help in control of coffee prices.
