The Europeanisation of Asylum law
Pifflová, Viktorie ; Pítrová, Lenka (advisor) ; Říha, Michal (referee)
The Europeanisation of Asylum law Abstract The content of this thesis focuses on the development of the European Union asylum policy, as the youngest but fastest developing EU policy. As the field of asylum law is highly influenced by the incorporation of EU legislation into the national legal orders of the Member States, this legal area can be described as strongly Europeanised. This thesis aims to document the process of Europeanisation of asylum law through the construction of a regional subsystem of refugee protection in the European area, called the Common European Asylum System, or CEAS for short. The thesis is divided into an introduction, seven chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter explains the basic concepts with which the thesis works, as well as emphasizes the necessity to consider the field of asylum law through the prism of three layers which mutually influence and complement each other. These layers are of the international, EU and national law. For this reason, the most important international legal pillars supporting the EU asylum acquis are mentioned. The following chapters deal with the very concept of the Common European Asylum System and EU asylum policy, in an attempt to capture the underlying conceptual ideas behind the need to build this system. As the CEAS was built...
Common defence policy in the contex of the EU law
Syruček, Václav ; Říha, Michal (advisor) ; Svoboda, Pavel (referee)
178 Common defence policy in the context of EU law Abstract: This thesis deals with the common defence policy in the context of EU law. The common defence policy is an undefined area of the EU's common defence and security policy. The first part of the work is devoted to the necessary theory of security policy, the theoretical concept of grand strategy, deterrence strategy and a brief history of the security integration of Europe, up to the establishment of the European Union and the increasingly extensive legal regulation of the area of common security and defence policy. Special emphasis is placed on the presentation of less well-known concepts in the Czech Republic, such as the theory of grand strategy, the theoretical approach to the formation of an ends-ways-means strategy and peace research. Peace is seen in the work as an ideal state, which itself, however, needs wider theoretical research. An understanding of peace theory is important for understanding the steps the European Union must take towards potential allies and systemic adversaries in order to ensure the security of its sovereignty, democracy and the lives, health and property of its citizens and residents. Positive peace is built using soft power and international cooperation. Negative peace is maintained through hard power and a strategy...

Bodlák, Daniel ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Říha, Michal (referee) ; Jíra, Aleš (referee)
1/1 škola: UNIVERZITA KARLOVA V PRAZE, Fakulta tělesné výchovy a sportu disertační práce: "Trends and forecasts in the technology of artificial disc replacement" autor: Ing. Daniel Bodlák datum: prosinec 2023 Abstract: The aim of the work was the study of current and new directions and trends in intervertebral disc replacement technology, a critical evaluation of current methods using implants for the treatment of degenerative disc disease, as well as a forecast of further development. The work also contains the related results of the collaboration on the optimization of the total "ball and socket" lumbar disc replacement within the project TA01010860 "Solving the problem of intervertebral disc replacement using modern knowledge, engineering methods and progressive technologies". In the part of the dissertation, focused on theoretical starting points, the attention is paid first to the intervertebral disc itself and its various aspects, from anatomy, through biomechanics and degenerative diseases, to the issue of implants for its partial or even total replacement. Subsequently, current trends and progressive methods of treatment are processed. The results section begins with a description of the methods used and then presents the results themselves, both from literature research and experimental work....
Late transposition phenomenon in the Czech Republic
Říha, Michal ; Pítrová, Lenka (advisor) ; Svobodová, Magdaléna (referee) ; Plaňavová-Latanowicz, Jana (referee)
LATE TRANSPOSITION PHENOMENON IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC The implementation of European law is a necessary precondition for the functionality of European integration. However, while the Union institutions carry out the legislative work, the implementation of European law is a task for the Member States. They must adapt their legal systems accordingly and enforce EU rules effectively. In the case of directives, the basic condition for their effectiveness is transposition into national law, which usually requires to propose a new act of Parliament. The Czech Republic has long been one of the countries with a high proportion of late transposition of EU directives. Despite the generally accepted claim that the culprit of these transposition failures lays in the Czech Parliament, research refutes such views. Although the Chamber of Deputies is relatively autonomous from the Government, its deliberations are lengthy, and the Chamber of Deputies' Rules of Procedures offers only a limited range of instruments to guide parliamentary deliberations, transposition delays occur already at the executive level. This is even though the Czech Republic has a series of robust measures to improve the planning of implementation works, but these are not enforced in practice. Presented research is based on data on the legislative...
Current approaches in the therapy of spastic paresis after acquired brain injury in adult patients - review
Štětková, Hana ; Říha, Michal (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: Current approaches in the therapy of spastic paresis after acquired brain injury in adult patients - review Objective: The goal of this diploma thesis is evaluate the most efective current physiotherapeutic procedures in the therapy of spastic paresis after acquired brain injury in adult patients with the main focus on physiotherapeutic intervention and further to find out whether the reduction of spasticity on the lower limb improves walking speed. Methodics: The diploma thesis is written as a theoretical thesis in the form of a literature review using the following electronic databases: PubMed, PEDro, MEDLINE, EBSCO, Scopus, Web of Science. The first half of the thesis summarizes the theoretical basis and knowledge dealing with spasticity assessment scales and spasticity therapy. The second half is written as a descriptive-analytic rewiev and contains an analysis of studies where therapy was used to affect spasticity with a joint assessment of walking speed without concomitant botulinum toxin treatment. Results: After conducting the search, only 6 studies that addressed the influence of spasticity after acquired brain damage in adult patients with simultaneous assessment of walking speed met the established criteria. Due to the very small number of studies and the way the studies were...
Transposition of Energy Communities into Czech Law
Pešková, Michaela ; Říha, Michal (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Václav (referee)
Transposition of Energy Communities into Czech Law - abstract The main topic of the presented diploma thesis is the legal concept of energy communities and its transposition into Czech law. The term "energy communities" means both citizen energy communities according to the Directive (EU) 2019/944 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019 on common rules for the internal market for electricity and amending Directive 2012/27/EU and renewable energy communities as defined by the Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. None of the mentioned directives has yet been fully transposed in the Czech Republic, although the transposition deadlines in both cases have already passed. The first chapter of the diploma thesis discusses the transposition of EU directives in general and from a theoretical point of view, including transposition methods and a description of the process of transposition of directives at the national level. The second chapter deals with the EU legal provisions regulating the energy communities themselves. Common characteristics, as well as basic differences between both types of energy communities, are identified, including the consequences of these differences for...
