X chromosome inactivation in human with abnormal gonosomal assembly
Chaloupková, Veronika ; Šolc, Roman (advisor) ; Rothová, Olga (referee)
X chromosome inactivation is the process of genetic regulation of mammals, which is designed to balance the genetic dose between male sex chromosomes (XY) and female sex chromosomes (XX). During embryonic development in females, one of the two X chromosome is inactivated and that it's detected in the cell as a Barr body. The other chromosome remains active. The whole process is controlled by genes from the X inactivation center. At the same time, we can see that some genes from the inactivated chromosome can escape and they continue in creating their products. That could be the cause of different phenotype of individuals with heterochromosome aneuploidy. This work summarized the current knowledge of the process and regulation of X chromosome inactivation in people with abnormal set of gonosomes and compates them to the inactivation process in healthy woman.

Sicily as a metaphor? Literary image of Sicily in selected works of Sicilian authors.
Chaloupková, Veronika ; Flemrová, Alice (advisor) ; Pelán, Jiří (referee)
(in English): This diploma thesis deals with the literary image of Sicily by analysing characteristic works by four Sicilian authors in the historical period from the process of the Italian unification to the end of World War II. The authors are Giovanni Verga, Luigi Pirandello, Vitaliano Brancati and Leonardo Sciascia. This thesis is based primarily on the assumption that these writers are subjective and empiric authors and their works clearly reflect the fact that they hail from Sicily having been influenced by its societal norms and traditions. The author supports her arguments by the theoretical essays written by Leonardo Sciascia, who devoted his lifetime to the study of Sicily from the historical, social, political and anthropological perspective. The basic prerequisite for this work therefore consists of three theoretical publications: Pirandello e il pirandelismo (1953, Pirandello and the pirandellism), Pirandello e la Sicilia (1961, Pirandello and Sicily), La Sicilia come metafora (1979, Sicily as a metaphor). In this thesis the author attempts to trace the common attributes and linking motifs throughout selected characteristic works and their analysis. As a conclusion, the author summarizes her observations and intends to find more general parallels between the historical development of...
Italian theatre of the Grotesque
Chaloupková, Veronika ; Pelán, Jiří (advisor) ; Polišenská, Vladimíra (referee)
(in English) This bachelor thesis deals with the portraits of three authors of Italian Grotesque Theatre in the years of 1916-1924, such as Pier Maria Rosso di San Secondo, Luigi Chiarelli and Luigi Antonelli. The introductory chapter presents the theatre and analyses authors' unique poetics, which, however, cannot be perceived as the programmatically defined theatrical movement. The first section of each chapter is dedicated to the authors' biographies, the second part to the analysis of their best known plays, such as Marionettes, what a passion! (1918), The mask and the face (1913), The man who encountered himself (1918) in the order given. By doing that, the thesis tends to reveal significant features of the above mentioned authors' poetics and analyse the development and changes of the themes and the artistic devices used in their works. The final chapter summarises the gained facts and observations and compares the authors' production in the Italian theatrical context of the time.

Three faces of Italian contemporary drama - Fausto Paravidino, Letizia Russo, Davide Enia
Chaloupková, Veronika ; Christov, Petr (advisor) ; Sieglová, Tereza (referee)
1 Abstract With my bachelor thesis I would like to contribute to the additional knowledge of contemporary drama and I intend to provide a view into the Italian background to whoever is interested. The thesis deals with the image of three authors from the youngest generation of Italian dramatists, such as Fausto Paravidino, Letizia Russo, Davide Enia. The choice of these authors is led by positive reception by both theatre and literary critics, by staging off their plays in European theatres, by gaining prestigious awards, and by subjective preferences as well. Most of their texts have not been translated into Czech and as well, the reception of their works in the Czech Republic is not so numerous. The introductory chapter presents all the authors together and is focused on their most famous pieces and gained awards and points out published collection of their plays and other international projects. The analyses of the concrete published texts in chapters are organized according to the chronological order of the time when their works were written and order of the authors is based on gaining the most prestigious Italian award for young dramatists (Premio Riccione). Short extracts of the pieces are also added mostly in translation by the author of this thesis. The second chapter deals with the dramatist Fausto...
