Abstrakt: This study discusses the effect of temperature and gas components, present in typical flue gas from MSW incineration, on both mercury oxidation and capture by mineral and carbon-based sorbents. The study was carried out by means of a laboratory scale device that simulates the gaseous mercury behaviour in flue gas at temperatures ranged between 150-300 ºC. The results show the influence of HCl, SO 2, NO x and H2O vapour in the gaseous transformation of mercury identifying the major reaction pathways.
